Detroit Dover Animal Hospital

Dr Burrows and the entire team at Detroit Dover Animal Hospital were great!!! My cat was very sick and had been to the ER at another hospital 3 times but was not improving. Dr Burrows listened to me and ran proper tests and my spent time explaining what was wrong and how to help my cat. I’m happy to report my cat is finally doing better thanks to Detroit Dover Animal medical team. Thank You so much.

This week, we had a distressing experience with our golden retriever, Moose. We rushed him to Detroit Animal Hospital, fearing he had suffered a seizure. Dr. Courtney Burroughs and her team were immediately attentive, providing reassurance in a moment of panic.

Dr. Burroughs conducted a thorough neurological examination on Moose, right in front of us. This not only demonstrated her expertise but also gave us a transparent view of the process, which was incredibly comforting. Her gentle and caring approach was evident as she carefully handled Moose, making sure he was at ease throughout the examination.

To our relief, it turned out to be a syncope episode caused by an accidental choking incident at the groomers while Moose was unattended for a few moments, and not declared a seizure at this time (we always know this could change, but evidence and statistics are showing that it is highly unlikely). Dr. Burroughs took the time to explain everything to us in detail, ensuring we understood Moose's condition and the steps we needed to take moving forward in case it was a seizure.

The compassion and professionalism shown by Dr. Burroughs and the entire staff at Detroit Animal Hospital were truly remarkable. It's clear they not only excel in veterinary skill but also in providing emotional support to worried pet owners like us. We left feeling relieved and grateful, knowing Moose received the best possible care.

Dr Mills is great! He takes all of our concerns seriously, no matter how big or small. He explains everything thoroughly and ensures our questions are addressed before closing the visit. I feel confident in his physical assessment and diagnoses - You can tell he truly loves what he does and I know my cats are receiving the care they deserve with him!

We are so grateful for the veterinary care at Detroit Dover animal hospital, especially Dr. Hughes. She is kind and compassionate and has taken care of several of our dogs over the years. This was my first time here as my vet left clinical practice and I wanted a place close to home. From check in to check out my experience was smooth, thorough, efficient, and professional. My cat and I were welcomed with warmth and kindness and everything we had hoped for was thoroughly and professionally rendered. Dr Burrows was excellent in demeanor, professionalism, and knowledge and all with a personal touch. She knows her field extremely well but wouldn’t discuss health matters of my cat like a smart robot, although she could since I immediately noticed how well educated she is. She instead applies it with wisdom crafted specifically to my cat’s needs, which is a magic touch that so few have left in our modern world. For Dr Burrows it comes simply and naturally. Thank you all for your hospitable care of my cat and me.

Our first vet visit with a new puppy and I’m so pleased with every bit of our experience. From the front desk staff, to our Vet Tech Robert, and Dr. Mills. Everyone was so friendly, and helpful with answering any silly questions I had. Highly recommend!

This is my fourth dog since 1992 and all have been treated very well here. Dr. Hughes is wonderful, so caring and compassionate. They never rush me, always have time for questions and the follow up communication is excellent. We would not go anywhere else and even Bailey gives a four paws up to our five star rating!

We loved Dr. Burrows! She was very patient (with the “people” parents) and kind and gentle towards my kitty cat (who wasn’t feeling very well 🙀)! She has a great understanding of how to calmly treat cats, who are scared and really aren’t thrilled to be there! Her exam was thorough without being over the top and she asked on numerous occasions if we had any other questions (therefore we never felt rushed)! She genuinely cares about her patients and I would drive the distance to return to her as well as the Detroit Dover Animal hospital!

I have been a client of this hospital for several decades. I feel my pets have lived longer, healthier lives since becoming a client. Dr. Greg & A.J. are my favorites but all of the doctors, techs and staff are wonderful and compassionate people. They not only service my own pets but have also provided medical care to the Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue and other local rescue organizations I volunteer for. The Best in the West - also great murals by local artist on the walls !

I’ve been taking my dogs there for years and cannot say enough good things about their service. From the front desk to the vet techs to the doctors, they are all friendly, professional, and so knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Brought my 13-yr old dog in - she just wasn’t acting herself. Dr. Hughes was fantastic!! She checked out my pup, Karlee, from head to tail thoroughly! Dr. Hughes is super friendly and so helpful!! Karlee already feeling better!! The staff is wonderful, as well! Kind, caring, helpful!! Would highly recommend this facility for your pet!

I have a reactive pitbull who’s very scared of new people and this is the only clinic I’ll take her to. They’re so patient and understanding with her. They do everything they can to make her comfortable, move at her pace and give her tons of whipped cream and cheese. They’re also very helpful when explaining medications. 10/10 would recommend.

My dogs have been seeing Dr. Cunningham. He has been our veterinarian for 20 years. He is kind, knowledgeable, offers up solutions. I find his honesty and compassion very comforting. The staff is also friendly and helpful. Great experience.

All of the staff at Detroit Dover is truly phenomenal. They are all so friendly, caring, and compassionate. Dr. Mills is the absolute best and is very easy to talk to and truly listens to concerns, and answers all your questions. I've been to a few of the other vets there as well and they are all so personable and caring.

We always leave feeling great. They take such good care of our elderly 17 year old dog. All of the team members are nice and professional.

I scheduled a very first wellness visit for my puppy and Dr. Hughes was amazing! She took the time to answer my extensive list of questions and gave me recommendations for puppy classes and groomers. Rob was also amazing and my puppy just loved him. Lots of treats and fun was had!

I always have a wonderful experience at DDAH. All the DVM’s are amazing, but Dr. Hughes has a special place in my heart for not only her nurturing and patient-specific care to all my babies, but also for me as a highly anxious pet mom. She has spent hours talking me through every obstacle I’ve faced with senior/terminally ill pets, answers all questions in great detail and with kindness, and the added bonus of being incredibly personable and helpful in any way possible. Though I have great respect for all of the staff and the way they care for my pets, Dr. Hughes goes above and beyond to ensure all needs are met, with patience, grace and compassion. You really can’t go wrong with this clinic. I can honestly say that when my babes are under their care, they’re treated like their own and that’s more than I can ask for.

As a new customer I was very impressed with my first visit with our new lab puppy. We were greeted and directed to the exam room. We met the vet tech and shortly afterwards Dr. Hughes. Everyone was wonderful with our new pup Sadie. We signed up for the puppy care plan and scheduled our next round of vaccinations. Very pleased and would recommend the practice to all.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the staff in the building. This was the first time taking my cat salem to the vet and it was the best experience I could’ve ever asked for. I love that you can book online so you don’t have to call And you can pick the vet that you would like all from the comfort of your own phone. I loved the care that all of the staff showed for my pet it made it a much more comfortable environment. I loved Dr. Walker. She answered all of my questions, and never made me feel stupid or like I was a bad pet Which I really appreciated. The prices were perfectly reasonable and they were even able to add a nail trim at the end of my appointment so I didn’t have to come back just for that. I wish I could give them more than five stars I don’t think I will ever go to another vet.
