Down from Vancouver Island! Had no idea what to expect from the fishing. All my questions were answered by Brady and on a second visit by Randall ! They were very encouraging and informative. Prices seemed reasonable to me.
In all the reviews I read they seemed genuinely concerned with customer satisfaction. This is a tough, competitive business. Give them an opportunity !!!

Great place! I came in with my family and had to translate for them. He made sure we had everything we needed and provided excellent customer service even in the middle of a customer rush!

Dropped in on a freezing cold day. Very friendly, funny, and helpful owner who took the time to demonstrate a few rigs and give some suggestions and tips. Great to spend a while in a knowledgeable and friendly shop.

August 2019 Helen is absolutely amazing. This place is awesome. Great prices and she had the best advice, she is very sweet and knows what she is talking about. IF YOU WANT TO CATCH FISH stop in and she will hook you up with the best tackle at the best prices we have found in town. Makes the drive from Arizona not a problem to catch big fish!!!!!

Was referred by a friend to stop in this tackle shop. Stopped in over New years weekend, and man wished I would have stopped a long time ago lol , hands down the best, my new go-to while in or near Port A. Top notch customer service, kid friendly. And thanks for the low prices

Excellent fishing store. Owner was extremely helpful and took time to help us gain a basic knowledge to enjoy a day of local fishing on our own.

On a recent trip to Port A, my husband wanted to buy a surf casting pole.
He said he wanted to go to Island Tackle and at that point I found myself along with Charlie Brown in the classroom. Whaa whaa yada, yada something, whaa something, yada. So of course, I said okay because I did not want him to know I had not heard a word after Island Tackle.
Once there we found the shop to be well stocked.
The gentleman behind to counter was courteous and very knowledgeable.
He provided a lot of information.

We never felt like we were being sold something.
My husband found a pole that he said was fantastic because it, whaa whaa yada yada something.
That is as he was on his way to the checkout counter.
That is when I thought I really really should have listened closer to what he said. I thought we were going to just look, silly me.
He is a lot less whiny now and brings home more fish!

Super friendly staff helped us get what we needed to get the family a day out fishing the Gulf.

No pressure, asked for my budget, and Randall set me up with a great rig and some good advice. Highly recommend. Now if I could just catch something...

Best shop ever. Owner was super helpful and got us set up with everything we needed to start fishing. She really wasn’t just trying to get sales and wanted us to have the best experience while spending as little as possible. Highly recommend!

Superb tackle shop. Everything is quality at reasonable prices. Knowledgeable and helpful staff.

Owner is super friendly, helped a couple of us beginner fishermen pick a rod, proper bait for the area, and even tipped us off to a couple great spots. Here's a photo of a catfish we caught within a couple minutes of using the rig he set us up with!

I had a problem with my new fishing pole. I had purchased from a different store the day before and they said they couldn't do anything about it, so I took it to Island Tackle and the gentleman that helped me must be the nicest man on the island! He was so kind and thoughtful in showing me how to fix my problem with the reel and got it all set up for me. He even took the time to teach me which knot to use to secure my hooks. He changed my whole day!

This is place is precisely why you should support small businesses. The owners are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They spool any newly purchased reel with monofilament line free of charge. Try finding service like this at places like Academy. You can rarely even find someone to unlock a reel display for you at places like that.

I’m not a local, and I’m new to salt water fishing; However, I came prepared to slay the fish! Or so I thought. Picked up a few items: Fish lip gripper, hook remover, and proper scissors for my tackle bag. The woman who assisted me was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, just as I witnessed with other customers being served. I got a really great vibe here, and from what I could tell they had everything you’d need and then some. Also, their prices seemed very reasonable to me. I’ll definitely be back with the rest of my list tomorrow. Thanks!

Island Tackle is the best tackle shop in town. Great knowledgeable people and surprisingly friendly prices for being in a vacation town. Will be back next time we’re here

Outstanding place. For such a small place he’s got everything you need for inshore, surf and offshore. And frozen bait! It never ends here.

Even in off season it was a great experience and ended up w 2 new poles at a great price

The owner and his wife are awesome! We had lots of gear problems but they were able to keep me fishing. I had three rod failures and two reel failures but instead of pushing product they got me fixed up and I only purchased one new rod and one new reel. They love to fish and understand buying gear for every problem is not the answer. I went from catching a few fish to catching 30 in one evening just by asking questions and taking some advice. As a freshwater guy I was dumber than I thought on saltwater fishing! Can’t wait to see them again next year!

These guys were awesome. Newbies to ocean fishing and they hooked us up with just the gear we needed and told us where to go. Ended up buying a pole and renting a couple. Definitely would recommend.
