Ayawaska Petaluma

First time trying Peruvian food. A friend of mine suggested this restaurant. My food rating includes the drinks I had. The food I would rate a 4/5 but the drinks were 5/5. If you're someone like me who enjoys a drink with a good alcohol to flavor ratio then I highly suggest this restaurant. The only downside is they close pretty early for a restaurant with great drinks, good food and atmosphere. Great place for a date.

Happened to be walking by and decided to sit down for a drink. Octopus was tender and flavorful. So was the duck dish ! Highly recommend!

We've been to Ayawaska several times and it has been a bit inconsistent.... however the food was always compelling enough to return.
This visit was the best ever.
The service, cocktails (a new, wider selection) and food all hit high notes.
Every dish was balanced and well present, but above all it was delicious.
I suspect maybe a new GM or new focus on operations!

Great little spot right on the water in Petaluma. Good Peruvian food. Particularly enjoyed the selection of Ceviches. The drink menu was also rather involved - with a large collection of cocktails - both containing alcohol and not.

One thing that was odd was that the zero alcohol cocktails were the same price as regular cocktails ($15). With that said, they probably took equal time to prepare and showed a high level of complexity in terms of flavor.

Solid service from friendly staff - that was prompt and effective.

Setting is nice, with a great outdoor patio that allows dogs. Good views of a river running through town.

I’d go back.

I love this place! Today is the first time my husband and I visit Petaluma and this restaurant was what we where looking for! Latin music, amazing food and our waiter today she was very proactive. We will come back again!

My friend and I really enjoy the tuna ceviche with yummy root chips and a glass of wine. For the main course we shared short ribs, Very large portions great food for spitting
The patio was a great abiance along the river, cozy little fireplace with wonder service.

Really cool vibe and design inside with fresh delicious food. We had a beautiful view of the river to sip our cocktails. My girlfriend is gluten free and she appreciated the clear markings on the menu for the GF options. We definitely will go back.

The food was delicious.
My fiancé has never been exposed to tapas before so I tried my best to order everything on the menu. The whole experience was absolutely amazing. The only hiccups we had were that the service wasn’t great at first I kept trying to get their attention and they would walk right by me, it was frustrating. Once the bartender decided to take care of us, everything was fine, my other observation is that their paella 🥘 even though it tasted good, it was not paella. That didn’t resemble any kind of Spanish paella I’ve ever seen. Paella is made a light Yellow color from using saffron. Saffron gives the flavor , color and aroma to the dish. Our “paella” was almost reddish brown as if they used too much goya sazon. My fiancé thought it was fine but he hasn’t had Spanish paella before. Other than that it was lovely afternoon I’d definitely go back if I’m in town.

I was here for a business meeting on a very nice sunny day. The seating outside was very nice and perfect for a day like that. Their yucca chips were too salty but the empanadas were delicious. They had good vegan options and I chose the lentil dish that was very tasty. The dish didn't need a flower on it and was a bit odd.

I really love this restaurant. It's spacious, light and charming, though a bit noisy later in the evening. The service is always excellent and the staff are willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. The cocktails take time to arrive, but are with the wait. My recommendations are arroz con mariscos, lomo saltado, pan de chicharrón and the whole fish.

Good food, next time I'll get the octopus and fish. The ceviche was unique, and the beef was cooked perfectly.

The place is amazing. Really good Peruvian food Best ceviche I have had in california. Food is tasty. Drinks are really good. Price is fine. Everything was good. Lomo saltado could have more meet. And the cream brûlée is more like a flan. But the place is delicious. Service was also rrreeeeaaallly good. The coffee was amazing

Seems to be a popular place. We had a reservation for a Saturday at 6pm & the hostess got us seated right away. Our server was very nice & answered all our questions about the meals & drinks we were interested in. The food, drinks & dessert were delicious! We sat outside & the view was 😍

Such a pretty spot and the food is fantastic. My husband and I split several dishes and everything was delicious. We'll definitely be back for their amazing empanadas.

Everything was amazing from service to food. Their cocktails are amazing with the right amount of booziness to start.

We tried their trio de ceviches and pulpo anticuchero. Everything tasted fresh and light! My favorite out of the trio is the calamari, squid, and scallop ceviche. The pulpo, octopus, had a nice char to it and its accompanying sauce was great.

My entrée was their arroz con mariscos, a Peruvian paella. So flavorful and definitely right portion.

I think next time I'll try their empanadas and dessert. 👍

Yummy food and great atmosphere! Driving through Petaluma and stumbled onto this place. The food portions are big so you won’t be hungry and awesome flavor! Fresh seafood. Will be back!

Yum, i loved the salmon with potato gratin and vegetables was delicious! I would absolutely order this dish again!! Lightening the oiliness of the gratin is warranted.

Staff were energized and seem to have a positive work culture. Some come across as if they'd rather be anywhere else but I don't expect restaurant staff to also be professional actors haha.

Elegant while casual. Great place. I’d like to return. Thank you, Chef for such excellent food with a perfect cook on the salmon and a generous portion.

A very special shout out to Mr. Phillip, the waiter extraordinaire, who took care of me. You want to be treated as if you are a VIP, ask for him! Tallk about top notch service, which is far from the norm these days what with all the staffing shortages. Overall, a great dining experience.

I RECOMMEND THE CUSTARD for dessert!!

Food here was outstanding. The octopus is just incredible and we would have eaten another it was so good!

I came here with friends and had a great experience at the bar! Nick treated us like family, made us excellent drinks, and made our experience overall a great one. Make sure to get yourself some of the Empanadas De Lomo they were the best empanadas I’ve ever had. Can’t recommend this place enough if you’re on the fence let this review be your push to give this Peruvian restaurant a try!

This is such a great dining experience. I love the patio and the excellent service. They are very attentive. We often get the catch of the day ceviche. The drinks are so good! The pisco sour is one of our favorites. So refreshing and Fresh! You can tell they use fresh and quality ingredients in their meal. Of course, they have a nice river view too. I would say this is the best patio dining in Petaluma.
