Breakaway Carrboro

Discovered this place using Offline. Otherwise I’d never heard of it or really would drive here. However we had brunch on Saturday and the Dutch baby special was so yummy. My other half had Amy’s scramble and it was also very tasty. I’d def come back here. It’s probably gonna look busy but they’re efficient at what they do. Outside seating is nice.

It was great! It was both my friend and I's first time there and we loved it. I ordered the cheddar sausage scramble, iced vanilla oat latte and a chocolate chip cookie. The food came out so quickly and tasted delicious. I also love when a brunch spot has a full espresso bar so that was a real treat. And a parking lot!! Loved it, will definitely be back!

Fantastic place for brunch. We ordered the Avocado toast, brioche French toast, sweet potato side and two cappachinos. The French toast and avocado toast were a good size, pleasantly plated and very tasty. The sweet potato side was heavenly. Maybe it was the dash of salt or whatever oil used on the grill but they were exceptional. Cappachinos were great as well. The restaurant was well staffed with very attentive people. The restaurant can be a little loud though because of the concrete floors. Overall a great option for brunch.

The food was incredible, the service was amazing and so friendly. Having worked alot of service/retail jobs I really appreciate when you can come into a restaurant and see that the staff actually seems to be happy. The feta red pepper spinach quiche was the best quiche I have ever had in my life, the iced maple latte was incredible. My fiance got the grilled cheese with Mexican chocolate Budino and matcha latte, all were so delicious. I love that the coffee drinks are affordable here as well. I would come in here every day just to grab the bakery treats (which they offer discounted sometimes which is so nice) the cinnamon roll was the best I had ever had.

The coffee is great and the avocado toast plus was even better than I imagined. This spot is fantastic so be sure to come early on weekends because there can be a wait.

This is some of the best breakfast I've had in a long time! The food came out hot and everyone was so friendly. I definitely recommend sitting outside if the weather permits!

Breakaway is a GREAT Carrboro spot! I work in the area and had not had the chance to try. Menu has plenty of options, staff is kind and the environment is completely inviting. Love a well designed space too! Will come back!

Friendly staff with a great menu. Everything we ordered was tasty. Open and airy dining area provided a great atmosphere.

After spending a nice in Carrboro, we were wanting to try out some delicious breakfast. We came across this little spot not too far from our hotel.

They had a great meal and drink selection. We both got lattes, cali Benedict, and a amy scramble. Both were tasty, a good portion and came out relatively quick.

The place had plenty of seating inside and out.

Great service. We will definitely be coming back.

This place was delicious and in the perfect location! You order at the counter and they bring food out to you. We only waited about 10 minutes in line on a Saturday morning and got our food in about 30 minutes while we drank coffee. The staff was all very friendly! For it being a Saturday it wasn’t too crowded and we easily got a table. They have drip coffee you can serve yourself and milk substitutes available. They also have outside seating and there were some dogs. Highly recommend the Maple Latte and the Breakaway Breakfast! Lots of parking right outside and very close to all the Carrboro charm.

Such a wonderful spot for a cafe! The parking got a little tricky with some folks backing their cars up, the FedEx delivery truck, and way too many handicapped parking that were all empty.

They offer breakfast all day, along with various salads and sandwiches.

Loved the decor, especially the light fixture coverings. Very clean place and I enjoyed the music.

We had the ham and cheese omelette and The Connolly, a ham and cheese sandwich, two sweet iced teas.

My omelette was delicious! Ham, cheese, spinach; so tasty. The fries were hand cut and good. It came with salad greens and they won’t let you substitute. I added toast on the side and it was the best toast I’ve had in a long time: thick cut, grilled added butter and jelly. The tea just wasn’t good. Not at all sweet enough and I don’t like artificial sweeteners. By the time I got home, I had to pour a glass of real iced tea.

The Connelly was good, had a nice flavor. However, the bread was too thick and the crust too hard to eat. Only once slice of ham. Not sure that was worth almost $13.

They have free Wifi and seating outside in the front near Greensboro St.

Total with tip was over $40, kinda pricey.

Enjoyed the food and ambiance, want to try their Mimosa’s, Eggs Benedict and grilled chicken so we will be back.

Ate here with my fiancé on August 1 - their grand opening. As you walk in your greeted with smiling faces and delicious baked goods. The staff were very polite and helpful. We had the eggs Benedict, avocado toast and 2 cold brews. Both meals were delicious and full of flavor. The atmosphere is great - beautiful decor on the inside with a cool wood slat ceiling look (they must have had a good builder!). Overall we loved our first experience at Breakaway Carrboro and are excited to come back again as we live nearby. A cafe that Carrboro needed.

Brand new spot in heart of Carrboro with inviting atmosphere, incredible food and coffee and caring friendly staff. This place truly cares about the quality of the food as well as overall experience which is so hard to come by these days!! Would highly recommend and will be back many times. Also do yourself a favor and try one of their freshly baked scones. They are next level goodness and they are addicting.

We’ll be back. Everything was delish. Even with a line out the door it went quickly. They are very good at managing a crowd here. The coffee drinks were hot and perfect. The Cali Benedict was great with perfectly poached eggs. Buttermilk pancakes with chocolate chips were a hit too. Huevos Rancheros was so good.

Someone mentioned this place in a Facebook chat this morning. I had an appointment in Carrboro, so I decided to pop in for takeout. Got the spinach, mushroom, portobello quiche, and the Cascade salad. Everything was delicious. Service was kind (didn’t rush me or appear annoyed while I worked through the extra thing I would get). Didn’t try the gluten-free strawberry cheesecake, but plan to try it along with one of their smoothie. Beautiful tables.

The food is so delicious! One of my favorite spots for a great brunch meal. The ingredients taste fresh and local. I love the quinoa bowl with an egg.

Seems pricy ($50 for brunch for 2, for example), but I gather that’s just the cost of eating local these days.

Staff are very kind as well. Good ambience and nice place to post up with a chai and get some work done.

Friendly and incredibly fast service, reasonable prices, and a straightforward, well prepared breakfast. Eggs were perfectly poached and the potatoes were good and not greasy. I appreciated that the menu and cooking style leans healthier than a lot of local breakfast spots.

Great location with good outdoor seating. Cool vibe inside. Excellent coffee. My go to is an oat milk cappuccino which they make perfectly. Current favorite breakfast is the Breakfast Grain Bowl with citrus quinoa, mushrooms, sweet potato, kale & tahini sauce, it’s fantastic!!! Nice staff!

Absolutely the best French toast I've ever had! The staff is super courteous, and the chef even brought out my food himself to ensure everything was to my liking. If you are looking for a great brunch spot, look no further! A☆☆

Awesome place for breakfast or brunch! Food is fresh, service is fast, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Might have a long line sometimes but worth the wait!
