Canal Art and Framing

My Dad passed away recently and I was looking to have someone create a very special shadow box in his memory. One that would capture the essence of who he was, his tremendous appreciation for music, and his true passion of being a Professional Jazz Clarinetist. I only wanted the very BEST to take on this important project for our family! And for this reason I chose to go with Samantha Thompson who owns Canal Art and Framing. Her background and extensive experience truly are impressive! She not only exudes an intense passion for her craft, but her brilliance, expertise, artful eye, and precise attention to detail are to be commended! As you can see from the photo I included with this review that the completed shadow box is simply gorgeous! It vastly exceeded my expectations! She went above and beyond to create something truly extraordinary that my family, along with all of our friends and loved one's, can thoroughly enjoy and treasure for the rest of our lives! I will share some of my geekiness with you all. Magic: The Gathering launched an Autobots set last year. The MTG cards are the foil versions. The top sign is 3D printed, and the two coins are from Etsy. I had an idea in my head, and Samantha the owner of Canal Art and Framing was able to make it a reality. The end result shows she is at the top of her craft.

Samantha at Canal Art and Framing did an amazing job with a three pieces - a custom hand-calligraphy piece that needed special framing. They look stunning! I was on a tight deadline and she pulled out all the stops to make sure I had my pieces in time (thanks to multiple choices in her shop). She also has local artist's work for sale! I'll be coming back to peruse again - and will absolutely use her shop's services for future framed orders.

I'm am deeply satisfied and grateful with the recent framing of two pieces of art at Canal Art. Samantha's artful eye and attention to finishing detail is beyond my expectations. The selection of frames was truly helpful in finding just the right frame for each piece. The quality and choice of glass is an important plus. And....Samantha is a pleasure to meet and work with.

Samantha did an amazing job with my project. I wanted a wedding gift for my fiance. Not only did she make sure I had my shadow box before my wedding, the quality of her work was amazing!! Having been a photographer, lab owner, frame shop owner and gallery owner for 15+ years I have an insiders insight into the business of framing and what it takes to produce a first class product. Samantha hits as a 10 on all counts as a professional framer. The work is exceptional, attention to detail is top shelf, and her assistance to her clients in choosing the proper and compatible mat and/or frame is always on target. Having that innate color sense to choose compatible elements for a piece of art is really a pretty rare talent. One of the few places you could probably walk into, drop the art work on the work table, give Sam carte blanche, walk away and return to a beautiful product. Truly a hidden gem in southern NH.

I am very pleased with the quality of the framing job I had done on a piece mosaic artwork made of cut stone. The owner took a LOT of time to help me pick the right frame and mat. Both complement the colors of the stone wonderfully. A small stone was missing from the mosaic and the owner replaced it with a piece of matching colored foam. That was certainly going above and beyond my expectations. Due to the weight of the mosaic special mounting brackets were used so that the final product would not fall forward once hung. The museum quality glass was the final touch which really makes the art work stand out. I definitely brought my art work to the right place.

Absolutely impeccable job. Samantha was so helpful in designing framing that worked best with the art, since I have no eye for it and wasn't sure what would work. She spent time walking me through and sampling different options. Highly recommend!

For the past three or four years I have periodically been bringing sets of items to Canal Art and Framing to be framed or reframed; Sam has always spent the time and assistance I needed to collaborate with me for the mat and frame design. Her intuitive inspiration and attention to detail has constantly resulted in the enhancement of each piece that I have been collecting over many years as well as admiration by my family and friends.

They did an excellent job, straightening, matting and framing an old black & white photo. A difficult process! They made it come alive!

Canal Art and Framing has been in business for over 20 years. I've had several pieces of autographed music related material. I've had autographed posters, limited edition lithos, and autographed LP jackets. Samantha has always guided me with great advice on mats and frames. By the way, the LP jacket also has the vinyl framed as well. I love it.

Really helpful owner. I walked in with 8 pieces of art I needed help arranging in a configuration. She spent over an hour with me figuring out what to do and how to beat configure them. She even mocked it up for me so we could doodle check before framing. It's going to look awesome and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to frame anything.
