Great Pan-Asian restaurant! Came here on a Monday evening with friends to celebrate a birthday! Definitely make reservations if you have a large party. Nice bar area to wait in or even grab a before dinner cocktail!
Menu is amazing, so many great options!
Definitely a must see if you’re in the city!

My first visit and I enjoy the food and ambiance very much. Even though we didn't get a table, we were located in the kitchen area which was very interesting because we could see them preparing the food (I'm very visual so I was enjoying the experience). Our server was a sweet girl and she was very helpful. We had the tasting menu and everything was delicious.

We came for restaurant week, and they don’t go it on Saturdays, but our server recommended the menu tasting instead and man was that well worth it. All the food we got was just.. so incredible and perfectly portioned. I loved making the duck sandwiches and the wagyu is a must try!! The atmosphere is perfect for friends or to impress a special someone. Also! The cocktail prices are so good, I pay more for drinks in Atlantic City! Check this place out - restaurant week or not.

I made a reservation during restaurant week, I did not realize that they do not participate at dinner time. They do offer a chefs menu for $5 more with MORE food than the restaurant week menu on days other than Friday and Saturday. It was delicious, so much food! My husband usually is still hungry with small plates but we brought leftovers home!

The ambiance is wonderful, and the cocktails are great! Definitely recommend the chefs tasting menu!

Sampan Never disappoints!
The service is great here, the waitress is super cheerful and outgoing with best recommendations. We stayed s little bit longer after we already paid the bill and even after that they keep filling up our water glasses which is always a great sign of excellent service.
The Korean beef satay is my go to every time i visit sampan. Go for their happy hour but dont miss looking at the full menu as well.

Good food and not expensive if you catch happy hour.
We had cocktails and they were just right, not too sweet, not too strong. Very well balanced.
A little noisy if sitting close to the kitchen.

Went here with some colleagues while in town for a convention. The food was great. I had the vegetarian tasting menu and it was both very delicious and filling. I usually eat quite a lot; However I had to take the extra home since there was so much food. The server was very cheerful. There certainly was a bit of a wait. We also had some sake which was good.

I can’t wait to go back. The food was amazing. The service was friendly, informative and surprisingly fast. It was very busy while we were there but the food was brought out hot and fresh. Happy hour deals are amazing.

Discovered Sampan after how many visits to Philly but glad we did. One word of note: if you want to dine from the Happy Hour menu- no res is needed and it is only available at the bars. This is knowledge stored for future reference! We did small plates which was more than enough for two. We had the Kantoi Road cocktail which was good (I really want to try the Scorpion Bowl!). Our waiter helped us narrow down the small plates and we started with the Edamame dumplings and the Gen Tso dumplings. I am going to say that the Edamame dumplings are probably the best I have ever eaten and I would come back just for two orders of those! Also the broth that it was set in was the perfect balance for the dumpling and paired well with it. They were so different and so good!!! ❤ the pork bao and the Korean bbq beef bbq satay were both good- I enjoyed them but my partner was just ok with them- he is weird with meat. We ended with the kimchee fried rice- we both enjoyed it, but by this point we were full, yes full from small plates! And the rice was a nice level of spicy but I’m just gonna say I’m a bit finicky with seafood- it did have that seafood taste to it. That is more a personal preference so don’t let that deter you bc I did have a few bites in spite of that bc it was good! We are def adding this to the must eat places when visiting Philly!

One of my absolute faves! My go to when I want a chill atmosphere and great food! Service is also always pleasant. I always recommend this place. Soup dumplings and any steak there are top tier!

MAKE A RESERVATION PEOPLE IT'S COMMON SENSE. Me and my friends didn't but we were determined and waited a hour in a half to be seated and it was worth it 100%. I want to keep coming back for happy hour. It was a great fast paced experience and the food was so yummy.

Heard about Sampan in one of Antony Bordain’s series and decided to try it out. I had a dumpling and chicken wing experience. Chicken wings prepared Korean style (double fried) with garlic and spicy sauce. So mouthwatering, chicken crisp and juicy. Absolutely recommend. Also ordered soup, beef and chicken dumplings with peanut sauce. Chicken-peanut dumplings were unforgettable! Soup dumplings not very soupy, probably better to go to Chinese places who specialize in it. Chicken satay (skewers) were pretty good. Had sake with food, which was very good. A bit on expensive side, starting $48. Overall, very much satisfied with the food.

My friends and I went to this place for dinner. The ambience was really good with music and good vibes. Our server was nixy and she was one of the best servers out there. She explained each of the vegetarian options to us. We ordered crispy chicken bao, fried rice, ice cream, drinks ( mule, old fashioned ), tofu taco and noodles. Everyone was flavorful and tasty 🤤. I would highly recommend this place to everyone who likes asian fusion food.

Note : please make an appointment and go.

I have nothing but great things to say about Sampan. My husband and I like to go there whenever we are in the city. We do the tasting menu, which is $55 pp and allows you to get 2 items from the first page in the menu & 1 item from each other section of the menu. It also includes mini ice cream cones for dessert. We always have left over for lunch the next day, but that’s because we order big items from the menu. I highly recommend the bao buns, short ribs, and the kimchi fried rice. We got the Bronzino for the first time last time and it was great! Reservations are a must because this place gets very crowded.

Amazing Asian fusion restaurant!! We loved every single dish that came our way. Thankfully, we were able to participate in the last night of restaurant week which led to us trying a wide variety of items. Our waiter, John, was very helpful with giving suggestions on which dishes to pick out. The crispy duck and crispy shrimp were definitely some of our favorites. They were packed with tons of flavor, and among all the food we ordered, no two dishes were alike. The ice cream at the end had really unique flavors (peach and snickers) and were both excellent. I would definitely come back in a heart beat! Highly recommend.

Yesterday was my first time dining at Sampan, and it was amazing. Everything was delicious, definitely 10/10. I went during Happy Hour, which is from 4pm-7pm. I ordered so much, because everything was reasonably priced. We sat at the bar, where there were a handful of bartenders and waiters. Service was exceptional, and the pace was amazing. I mean as soon as we placed our orders, within minutes they were coming out. I would highly recommend the pork bao & the beef satay. Everything was exceptional, but those two stood out. Definitely have to return.
