Amazing Indian food. Tried sambar vada and karampodi ghee masala dosa. Taste was too good. Price is regular. Very crowded and not very clean as it is expected to be. Slippery floors and restroom could be maintained in a better way.

No frills South Indian establishment with solid food and good service. The sambar was excellent, and the masala dosa was also very good. The onion chili uttapam was bready/gluey, but the flavor was good and the green chilis weren’t overwhelming.

Others with more experience eating South Indian food may feel differently about this place, but I enjoyed Dosa House and will return.

Amazed by the authentic taste of South Indian dishes. Visited for the first time and as soon as I stepped into the hotel I felt that typical south Indian hotel aroma and chaos we experience in India. Ordered sambar idly and I just fell in love with it. That is the traditional sambar taste that is even hard to find in India. Puri kurma has a different taste unlike a typical Andhra tiffin Puri curry. I didn't like Masala Dosa but that's ok as it was not bad. Overall I recommend sambar idly here and definitely visit again when I come back in future.

This Dosa House is a bustling hub of activity, where the aroma of spices greets you long before you take your first bite. Despite being extremely crowded and busy, the energy within is part of its charm, reflecting the authenticity and love poured into each dish. The place is a haven for South Indian cuisine enthusiasts, with a menu that's as inviting as the staff who navigate the packed space with smiles and efficiency.

The standout, without a doubt, is the Thali. It's not just a meal; it's a culinary journey through the rich tapestry of South Indian flavors, presented in a huge platter that's as pleasing to the eyes as it is to the palate. Each component of the Thali is crafted to perfection, from the fluffy, fragrant rice to the variety of curries that range from mildly spiced to boldly flavored, ensuring a symphony of tastes in every bite.

And then, of course, there are the dosas—crispy, golden, and filled with a delightful mixture that makes every bite a moment to savor. Despite the hustle and bustle, the quality of the food remains consistently amazing, making every wait worth it. The Dosa House isn't just a place to eat; it's an experience that encapsulates the joy of sharing a meal in a lively setting. For those who appreciate great food amidst the chaos of popularity, this spot is a treasure.

As we were tourists we got suggested this place by our friends who live there. I have visited this place with 7 other friends on march 4th and 7th there we have tried almost 8 different types of dosas also we tried thaali’s which were so good and my personal favorite was Bangalore masala dosa which was 10/10. Staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to everybody. Also I will definitely visit again next time when I come to visit Nj. Unfortunately I didn’t took any photos or videos of food to post it here.

By my standards some of the best I’ve ever had in the US. Just as good if not better than some places in India, also the chai was the perf amount of spice and sugar, not too sweet. Super authentic and you can tell it’s good and fresh by the crowd, though you may have trouble finding a seat, but def worth it

Great place for South Indian food. If you are from India then you must know that there are many flavors of authenticity when it comes to food whether it’s Dosa, Samosa etc. So when you talk about Dosas, Idlis, Uttappas this place fits the bill. It’s definitely someone’s authentic version of South Indian food. Stick to the traditional items and this place is very good.

One of the authentic South Indian restaurant which provide superb food. We have been visiting this hotel since last 2 years and are never disappointed. The only drawback is we have to wait for seating and it's a bit dis organized.

The place is extremely good and is a must visit. The dosas are extremely well made and they have a sambar counter where you can have all the hot unlimited sambar in the world😛. You can get extra potions for chutney as well. The idli and vada were extremely soft and crispy respectively. They have a huge variety of dosa options, close to 100. The price is reasonable as well.

Last night, my family and I dined out, enjoying a variety of dishes. Our order included Poori Bhaji, Ghee Dosa, and Rice Pongal, providing excellent vegetarian options. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try at least once.

Ganesh Dosa house without a doubt serves the best Dosa in whole of Jersey City, NJ. It is one of the most popular restaurants on the Indian street in Journal square area. I found the food served here pretty good, the place is kept decently clean, the service is quick and items are reasonably priced. In the evenings and weekends, the restaurant gets crowded and may involve a wait to get served. It is a pure vegetarian self-service restaurant, one has to place the order at the counter and wait for them to call the order number once ready. However the restaurant can improve on their Hygiene and Cleanliness of the restrooms.

Dosas are savoury South Indian crapes served generally with chutneys and sambar(spicy veg lentil soup). They serve about 50+ varieties of Dosas here. Each Dosa is served with white(coconut) and orange(tomato) chutneys on the side. One can pick the sambar from a table setup behind the order counter at the back. I absolutely love the Dosas served here, my favorites are Peserattu with Upma, Masala Dosa and Rava Onion Dosa. Few other popular dishes served here are Idli, Vada and Mysore Bonda

Peserattu with Upma is a Dosa made with green gram and stuffed with some Upma in the middle. It's very unique of a South Indian state Andhra Pradesh. Masala Dosa is their most popular item which is a simple Dosa served with potato and Onion bhaji stuffed inside. Rava Dosa is a thin and super crispy Dosa.

Recommendations:
Peserattu with Upma
Masala Dosa
Rava Onion Dosa
Idli or Masala Idli

Summary:
Ganesh Dosa House is a must try place to have some authentic Dosas and other South Indian dishes.

Tons of reasons I liked this place
1. fresh food.
2. Sambhar is unlimited and very good (so far the best south indian sambhar i have eaten in US - across east and west coast)
3. very affordable
4. Kid friendly

Context:

For over a decade, I frequented this place, initially setting foot in 2011, and subsequently returning countless times until 2017, when circumstances led me to relocate to California. My daughter, born in 2013, developed a fondness for the cuisine (her first taste beyond home was idli, and she adored the dosa). During a recent nostalgic revisit to cherish the east coast places, I brought her along to Ganesh Dosa House. It was here that a flood of heartwarming memories from her early years came rushing back.

Vividly, I recall the owner's heartwarming generosity – a complimentary dosa for my daughter, creating an atmosphere akin to an extended family. The culinary delights and the profound sense of connection within those walls etched themselves deeply into my consciousness. Today, as I reflect, gratitude wells up within me. I extend my heartfelt thanks, profoundly appreciating the restaurant's survival through the pandemic and its current state of thriving. May blessings continue to shower upon them.

The best South Indian restaurant in NJ. They have a huge variety of dosas and south Indian dishes. Their Sambar tastes the best. Underrated restaurant. Do try their Puri Khorma and Masal Dosa.
