Polonus European Deli

Honestly this is probably my favorite place to eat in downtown Salem, Mass. It’s inside the mall and it’s in sort of a weird location but if you love Polish food like I do, it has excellent kielbasa and pierogi - and the ladies who work there are so kind and funny no matter when you go in (and if you aren’t eating your food they’ll come after you like they’re your mother). You can also get some imported food items as well and it’s also a functioning deli so you can bring home meats, etc. I visited at least once a year and have for the past two decades.

Great service and great food! The workers are attentative even when they are attending to other customers. They have few spots to eat inside, but they play a Polish radio, which is nice to listen to. We asked for the keilbasa sandwich to be split in half and they were happy to do so. The pierogies were great, loved the potato mixture inside.

If you find yourself in Salem definitely make it a point to stop here! Everything we ordered was exploding with flavor yet so simple! I also bought some treats from inside the store and omg they are perfect! The lady was also such a spitfire we just all loved her! Go support them you won't be sorry🖤

The workers were so kind and friendly. Also super delicious food with great prices! We came to Salem during Halloween when it was super busy and this little place wasn't nearly so busy, so we could get a bite to eat. We got kielbasa and some fried pierogi. Definitely recommend!

Very busy Polish market just before the Easter celebration meal. Even added some counter space in order to stock some additional items. Nice selection of Polish foods and perfect little deli. Ladies were all very helpful.

The owner is extremely friendly. My fiancée and I make it a point to stop by and order a kielbasa and sauerkraut hero every time we stop by. They have a lot of authentic Polish food, as well as candy, and garnishes.

This place is a MUST GO TO if you’re in Salem.

My daughter and I stopped by to have lunch today. We met the Polish “Diva” “Alicja”. She is a bundle of energy and has a charming personality! She clearly loves serving the public. She had all of us laughing. The rolls were fresh, the meat and cheeses were good quality. I highly recommend this shop if you are looking for a great sandwich!

I love this little Deli. They have the best meats and cheeses. Their Polish pickles are amazing. The ladies that work there treat you like family which is just awesome. It made my daughter's day that you were open on Halloween. She was so upset when she thought you were closed. This is a must stop.

Very friendly and welcoming people making you feel like your visiting a Polish Home. We are from the neighboring Baltic Countries, it was so nice! We will without a doubt come back! Thank You! Dziękuję Ci. The Polish kiebasa very authentic and was very good!

Authentic as they come. Tons of Polish groceries and the fried pierogis were amazing. The lady behind the counter is super nice! Highly recommend stopping by if you’re passing!

Visited from Chicago and stopped in to see! The woman who runs the shop is amazing! So sweet and loved to have conversation. The store had all the great options one would have at a Polish deli in Chicago. The kielbasa was great and so were the snacks and treats we had picked up! The prices were fair and just like any other Polish deli I’ve experienced since I live near several. Truly authentic and I will definitely revisit when I’m back in town!

Came to Salem for brunch and ended up not even going in a restaurant because I couldn’t get enough of these perogies. Best perogies around with the sweetest sales girl!

The owner is pleasant and easy to talk to. The kielbasa and pierogies are incredible. Will definitely be back. Seeing other reviews saying the lady was rude are fabrications of unreasonable people I'm pretty sure. The lady that helped me was amazing, gave me compliments, and happily accommodated everything I asked for. Also the negative reviews all seem suspiciously similar. To me it seems like one person made a few fake accounts to add multiple negative reviews. Competitors maybe?

Super nice woman running the joint, she was funny and engaging. The pirogies were delicious, and sweet treats were yummy. Suggest swinging by and enjoying the atmosphere and food.

We ABSOLUTELY LOVED this place!! We made a point to stop in all 5 days of our Salem trip! Amazing selection of goodies, and delicious foods!! More than that, this awesome lady is what had us coming back every day!

The fried pierogis are amazing! I don't know what the other reviews are about because the lady who works here is very helpful and was not rude at all she is a kind hardworking person. I definitely recommend this place one of the nicer European shops I've been to. Great food and friendly service my family will eat here again!

Had Polish kabasi sub with sauerkraut. Enjoy the food as well as setting outside while eating it. The lady behind the counter was extremely nice and fun to talk to would come back.

Absolutely wowed by the kielbasa and sauerkraut sub! HUGE and delicious. My friend ordered the Polish cold cut sandwich, which looked divine as well!
