Such a wonderful local gem! This is such a great place for your sweet tooth cravings and treats. It is cash only.

The selection and options were out of this world with very reasonable prices! I greatly appreciated the opportunity to sample some of the different flavors before making my decision! I went with the 6 flavor sampler! I got the Oregon Strawberry, Espresso, Coffee Oreo, Mint Chocolate Chip, Madagascar Vanilla, and Jungle Coconut. The Oregon Strawberry and Jungle Coconut were the best - very flavorful and fresh!

The service from Rachel and Jackie was PHENOMENAL!! They were so friendly, knowledgeable, and such a joy to talk with. The ambiance is very casual and a few seating areas to sit and enjoy your dessert.

We randomly found our new favorite ice cream shop last night! The workers were so sweet and patient as we asked them about a variety of their custom flavors. Every single thing we tasted was incredible! We ate it so fast that I forgot to take pictures - our group ordered lemon sorbet (incredible), coffee Oreo, Mill Pond Mud & Boston Blackout. We’ll definitely be back soon to try more flavors and maybe a flight! Flavors are seasonal, so they may change from the menu picture I posted.

I got a shake to go with Boston blackout ice cream, strawberry ice cream, pineapple, peanut butter, and vanilla. It was so good that when I got into my car and started driving, the shake mysterious disappeared before my eyes. I had to hold myself from going back for another.

My favorite place to get ice cream!! I can't have dairy, but they're my fav place to get vegan. They did run out of my favorite flavor, but the worker (I'm so upset that I don't remember his name 😞) recommended a new flavor they were testing with a banana base and it was amazing!!

Top 5 on our list of favorite CT locations, and thankfully close by! High quality ice cream, family owned, and plenty of flavors for everyone. Plus if you're GF, dairy free, or vegan there is something for everyone! Even GF cones, which are much appreciated, are available on site. I do miss the full restaurant from years past. And the location is not desirable being on the busy Berlin Tpke. They do have some picnic tables out back, but still wish they were downtown in a more family-friendly area (of course, they were here before it got so big in the area!). Also cash only, so don't forget to bring! (They do have an ATM) While the ice cream is incredible and so worth it, prices are getting a little high compared to other farm-fresh places that are not cash-only (Almost $6 for a small 1 scoop cone/dish, if that's important to you). Better value to get the 2 scoops+ when you are hungrier or can take some home. They also have a great value "flight" of scoops you can share. Highly recommend!

I love this place. Ice cream is fantastic but for me it’s the staff. They are all always for friendly. Like going to visit family. All the flavors are good and there are a lot to choose from.

Goes without saying, the ice cream was GREAT! I haven't been here in a couple years so I had to get past the sticker shock but I have no doubt it is the same everywhere that sells ice cream. Best of all was the young man that waited on me. Extremely patient and very helpful. That is the customer service I remember from the old Mortensen's. I will be back both for the ice cream AND the service.

Great little place to grab ice cream! The portion sizes are huge! One scoop is actually about 3! They have tons of flavors and the staff if really friendly.

I only rate the good stuff...small place be prepared for a long line depending on the time you go. There are a few seats inside and some picnic tables outside in the lawn by the parking lot curb. The ice cream is very enjoyable and tasty. Nice place to go in the weekend with wife /kids. Expect to pay $15 to $20 a person. Kids my be around $10 to $15.

One of the best little ice cream shops in CT.... Up there with Wentworth and Ferris Acres..... An absurd amount of flavor selections, delicious smooth and creamy ice cream. Highly recommend.

Really great ice cream!! They have lots of great flavors - it was hard to choose. I went with the pistachio walnut and graham central. They were both creamy and delicious!! Their ice cream portions are generous. I ordered a “one scoop” and thought it was really big!

The most amazing staff, we came in slightly towards closing and they were very accommodating and let my kids have three tastes each. Absolutely so sweet, respectful and courteous. Those girls deserve a raise. I bought a squishy cow for my dental office in New Jersey, and named him Mort. Now some of my patients who travel to Connecticut want to come get ice cream. I give them your address..☺ PS. THANKS FOR HAVING GLUTEN FREE CONES IT MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE... my kid doesn't get many options. 1000 out of 10

We LOVE mortensen’s!! We moved to the are recently and are always here ! The staff is always soo kind and welcoming, the best ice cream around !!

I was met with a big smile from Steph today! She was so personable I felt right at home. She was quick and offered recommendations on the ice cream. I had someone with special needs and she was very patient and kind to him. Great first expression and will definitely come back. Thank you for the great service.

Had a wonderful hot fudge ice cream sundae with nuts and whip cream. While the food was a bit pricey it was delicious and all who came with me raced about their ice cream as well! It’s a bit out of the way on the Berlin Turnpike, but worth the trip!!

I've been going here for years. The ice cream never disappoints. You have to try the CT BLACK BEAR...Great Sundays too.. highly recommend the Hot Apple Cobbler Sunday...and they will make you a Reeses Pieces Sunday that definitely makes Friendly's obsolete. Highly Recommend

Amazing homemade ice cream with all the toppings and fixing. They even have vegan and gluten free options! Definitely worth checking out, but make sure you bring cash as it's cash-only.

The sundaes are awesome n huge.. I tried the strawberry shortcake sundae n it was super tasty n completely worth my visit.. my husband loves the ‘pure vanilla’ here n it actually is one of the best vanilla ice creams we have tasted so far .. it is also a very old establishment n has a great history to it !!

Such a great experience there yesterday. The staff was super helpful as it was my first experience. There was so much to choose from. They offer many more flavors then I would have imagined being a family owned business. In addition, they offer gallon containers and ice cream pies aswell. If you haven’t gone in awhile, my husband says it’s still good! :)
