Ruff Start Rescue

Adopted Franklin from Ruff Start a few months ago, and both him and I have never been more happier. The whole process was extremely easy and seamless from start to finish, and I appreciated not having to leave my home to adopt him, as I don’t own a car and don’t drive. I even had staff call and check on him when he wasn’t doing well when I first adopted him. He has been the sweetest cat I’ve ever had, a cuddle machine; makes coming home after a long day at work, worth it. Could not recommend them more!

Best dog! This dog had come with warnings, but the lady fostering him got to know him and us and was confident we’d make a good match! We couldn’t live without him, neither could the kids in our family!

Last summer we adopted a Ruff Start Rescue kitty from the Monticello PetSmart. The process was very easy and we found the most amazing boy for our family.

Ruff Start is an amazing organization for adopting a pet. They are very supportive and have amazing communication from start to finish. They make sure even after you have adopted your new furbaby that you are doing well or if need any support. They provide so many helpful tips and tricks and you can truly see that they want you and your furbaby to be happy and healthy and be together forever. I have used other rescues before an RSR is by far the best of the best.

I have never worked with a better organization than Ruff Start! I just adopted my sweet little Jemma Grace a couple of weeks ago from them. The entire adoption process, from beginning to end, was so seamless and efficient! I applied on a Thursday evening and had my precious little girl at home with me very quickly! Everyone was so kind, and so helpful, as well as being extremely responsive! I am so in love with my Jemma Grace, and if it wasn't for Ruff Start I would've never even met her. I am forever grateful to Ruff Start and will tell everyone looking to adopt to look no further than them! They are the best!!💕🐕💕

Rescued my Guinea Pig Flapp 5 months ago and he is so amazing! I looked through the Ruff Start Rescue page for single guinea pigs and Flapp was the first one I saw. The adoption process was very quick and easy. They make sure you have a good home for them, have thr knowledge to care for them, and everything you need for your animal. I got to take him home in less than a week and its been an adventure since. He has such a unique personality it brightens our days! Thankful for this rescue!

Ruff Start Rescue has been awesome to work with. Everyone has been quick to respond, helped with meds/health issues, transportation and behavior concerns. Sometimes rescue animals come with issues; Ruff Start tries to help so it can be a successful adoption. Also, there is a huge variety of animals to choose from. Thanks Ruff Start!

We adopted our puppy from Ruff Start Rescue. Very professional organization. Great experience. I highly recommend them.

Ruff Start was professional and easy to work with. We had submitted an application for a dog who was placed in another home, only for us to be followed up with a month later when that placement didn't work out. We've had our girl for almost a year now and it was amazing we didn't get forgotten about during that time. I would adopt through Ruff Start again!

I have adopted both my dogs from Ruff Start and am a current foster mom. Both my experiences iwith the adoptions were easy and positive. The rescue does a great job supporting their fosters and adopters!

I adopted two kittens from ruff start rescue. I have a super senior cat at home and had to be careful to be sure cat friendly and heathy cats were brought in. They were wonderful and understanding. The office was very helpful and emails were answered quickly. We are very happy with our experience here.

Just two suggestions:
To anyone adopting here is to be sure to cover your bases with information from the fosters.
I had to pass on a few possibilities because not all information is given in the descriptions of their bio.
For instance one said that the cat was good with cats. Upon talking to the foster it was a best guess. The cat wasn’t around any cats with her home and not knowing of prior either. That was one irritating thing. How can you say on the bio that they are good with other cats when you don’t truly know.
You inquire it takes a week then I had to move into the next maybe. It takes extra time to find a match because informing isn’t as accurate as it could be initially. Ask about illness too and how long it’s been since they have had treatments. Cover what concerns you and you will get answers so you can decide if you want to continue.

Thankfully all went well!! I would recommend ruff start for sure. Just be patient with the process and cover your concerns and you will find your new furry family members!

We had a wonderful experience with Ruff Start rescue and adopting our new kitty, Kelso! He was being fostered through a foster family and then brought to The Cafe Meow in Minneapolis to be adopted. Ruff Start has been very kind and responsive both before and after our adoption was completed, which we appreciate so much! We were very impressed by how quick the adoption process was. Thank you Ruff Start rescue for helping us find our new best friend! :)

We adopted Niko the bunny a couple of months ago from Ruff Start Rescue. They made the process very easy since our home was experienced with rabbits already. I even offered to do a Skype or video call to show my current rabbits living conditions but a few pictures is all the foster mom required and my vets information. It’s helpful that he was neutered and they were honest that he had not had the RHDV2 vaccine and I would have to get him vaccinated. Niko has settled in well and is a happy boy with a sweet personality. I am happy to report he has even lost 1/2 pound due to us having him on a strict diet. Thanks,

My sister met ruff start with puppies at forgotten star, and new I was going to get a puppy. She gave me information and from there ruff start made everything easy and comfortable for me and Vienna. Wonderful program highly recommend. I now adopted Vienna and she's a wonderful puppy. Thank you all Craig Lehner

After dealing with "Minnesota Pitbull Rescue" which is a terrible Rescue, absolute garbage and should be shut down.

Ruff Start was a breath of fresh air. They are a true Rescue, they actually Rescue animals opposed to M.PB.R.

Great communication, they work hard, they do a great service for animals, they are all-around great people.

They will be getting my donations from now on.

I have worked with Ruff Start Rescue numerous times starting in 2007. Both my cats were rescues. I have fostered several litters of kittens and adult cats with Ruff Starts help and they have all found loving homes.

We just adopted from Ruff Start and we are in love with our puppy! The adoption process was awesome and easy to do. We are so blessed to have used ruff start!
