Leaven Community Center

I've been involved here a lot over the years. As an atheist that goes to the very welcoming and inspiring Lutheran church service, as a member of the NE Portland Tool Library, and a hot spot for community organizing. Good people and a loving community.

A community center that hosts multiple faith communities and other non-profits that are all working together to make our neighborhoods better places to live. I love the philosophy of grass roots community organizing through one-to-one sharing of our stories to find points of commonalities.

My review is exclusively for the Leaven Arthritis class offered at the Leaven Community Center. Jackie is our teacher and she comes highly recommended. She has a certificate to work with arthritic patients. Her class is fun and she adds other events like potlucks so it becomes relational. I have arthritis and I find her exercises helpful for the relief of symptoms and I believe I am building flexibility and strength. The class is 50 minutes long and ideal for those with arthritis and in their 60's.

More than a church . It's a community open to everyone! It's about relationships and being proactive in the community.

Best place in the whole city!! People are amazing and the only place where i actually meet real people silling to share and love each other as we are!!
