The Left Bank Reviews

This restaurant and bar is the quintessential example of comfort. There's a level of 'cozy' that you feel as soon as you walk in, and it exemplifies right when you sit down. On those chilly Vermont nights, there's a warm reception from the staff, the lighting is ambient and soft, and the food is exceptionally proportioned. I keep coming back to that word comfort because I truly do believe the vision of this space is to make you feel warm and relaxed, both for the appetite and the mind.

The front of the house will learn your name quickly (and remember you the next time you walk in), the back of the house will try to make time to come out and visit and make sure everything is to your liking.
This Left Bank has the service and food preparation of what you would find in Manhattan, but the staff friendliness and accommodations of a small town like Weston, VT.

We had such an amazing dinner last Saturday night. The french onion soup, crescent duck and herb-brined chicken were phenomenal. Chef Brett stopped by and delivered an extra special treat for our table. The whole team are incredibly welcoming , and the ambience is best in class. We highly recommend for anyone traveling to the Weston Vermont area for an extra special dinner experience.

Absolute stunner of a restaurant in the middle of the mountains in Vermont. Everything here was impressive from beginning to end: the warm, cozy atmosphere complete with wood burning fire; the friendly, patient service; the wine recommendations; the fresh oysters; onion soup; the wonderful French entrees; and dessert. Our group of four each ordered a different dish (swordfish, beef cheeks, chicken, and duck) and everyone loved every bite to the very end. Had a wonderful conversation with the waiter and learned that this place is also a bed and breakfast. We’ll definitely be back whenever we ski Vermont! Well worth the 30-40 minute drive from the mountain area.

A wonderful find start to finish! Enjoyed the Rhode Island oysters with a mild saltiness and buttery finish. My swordfish was cooked perfectly. My husband’s beef cheeks were “melt in your mouth “ delicious! The wine selection is very good. Don’t forget to try the Espresso Crème Brûlée for dessert. Our waiter friendly and efficient! You won’t be disappointed!

It’s a wonderful place to go for a drink at the bar or for a higher level dinner.
Great food - can be a bit costly - but drink are understandably priced and the service is really wonderful. Everyone is so kind and helpful.
Great place to stop after seeing a show at Weston Theatre Company.

Wow, what an experience. My husband and I have been dining all over Vermont for years and this place takes the cake. You would never guess in the beautifully quaint town of Weston, such an experience could be found. From the start, you walk into the dining room with real gas lamps lit along the steps outside. We were warmly greeted and were swept away with incredibly balanced cocktails and courses of authentic French cuisine with amazing locally sourced ingredients. The wine list is insane- beyond. What really sets this place apart is the level of high end service which is on a whole other level- everyone from the wait staff to the bartender were so passionate about the restaurant.

Absolutely a first class experience. Matt, the manager ensured the quality was suburb. Laurie, the server was attentive and “spot on”. Ashley quality controlled customer satisfaction. John made outstanding drinks. As a family, our food choices varied but we sampled each dish and were pleasantly surprised by each palate pleasing experience. Yeah, I know this seems convoluted, but as a NYC dweller and part time VT visitor, TLB ticked all the boxes. It’s nice to try a new venue without the pretentious menu to accommodate the out-of-state crowds. Chef Combs created a menu that is uncomplicated and delicious.

The food was delicious and the service was exceptional! We had the duck confit and the steak at poivre, and I highly recommend both. Our server could not have been better at her job - she was charming, warm, and efficient. I think her name was Charma?

We went here to celebrate my husband’s birthday and it was a lovely evening. The vibe was elegant yet not stuffy. The server (Jess!) was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We had an amazing meal - beet salad, salmon, amazing burger, mushrooms and really beautiful cauliflower salad. The decor was spot on - every detail was thought out. The bathroom, the bar, the cozy fire burning outside. I can’t say enough good things!

Perfection.

The first thing you should do is to make a reservation now before everyone finds out about this phenomenal Green Mountain jewel. It is an intimate dining experience with Michelin star quality food. The preparation and presentation by Chef Brett is unmatched in a 150 mile radius. Of the 4 entree’s, appetizers and cocktails everything was perfection and paired beautifully. The menu is thorough but not overwhelmingly so. While the food is as fine as any of the countless Michelin starred restaurants (some 3 stars) I have enjoyed around the world and in nearly every highly rated Zagat NYC restaurant over the last 30 years, you do not leave hungry. The proportions were unexpected and so welcomed. They were not overwhelmingly large but just spot on. Too many times I’ve left a Michelin 2 or 3 star restaurant where I’ve spent 2 or 3 times the price and wondered if I can find something to eat on the way home. I’m not a big person but a few dots of this or that on a plate that I’m sure took hours to create isn’t always meal. You will not experience this at The Left Bank. Thank you Chef Brett for your work.

The ambiance is beyond anything I’ve experienced in VT. It evokes a feeling of a bygone era in Paris, London or old New York. All this and so much more enjoyable due to appropriate sound management. For those distracted by loud music, people and the clatter of staff attending to the tables, then this is your haven because none of that is present here.

As for the surroundings, this stunningly re-envisioned and remodeled historic property is truly something to see and experience. The private dining room/wine room is the work of a master craftsman in woodwork. The wine racks and shelving are mahogany, seriously. The wine list is extensive and I have no doubt with advanced notice, they would provide almost anything you might request.

On to the service, The Left Bank is thankfully and mercifully as unpretentious as it is spectacular. Our professional server, a Vermonter who lives in Weston, was equal parts charming, attentive but neither overly familiar. It was a fun experience and she added to the overall feeling of warmth and that everyone there really wants the patrons to feel welcomed.

The restaurant and resort management were friendly, engaged and greeted our party by name as we left. We were thanked for our visit and they genuinely cared about our guest experience. And, yes there is a luxurious spa and resort with an exclusive number of guest rooms that I believe opens in September. Though we live less than 20 min away, this might just be a staycation spot for a special occasion.

I hesitated to write such a gushing review. I rarely take the time to write them at all. However, The Left Bank deserved the time I took in creating this review. We look forward to many more fabulous evenings with friends and family here. I just hope we will still be able to get a table once the word is out …

We enjoyed a lovely evening during the opening weekend at The Left Bank. The dinning room is very cozy and we enjoyed our first cocktails next to the fireplace. We enjoyed our meal from start to finish. The staff is warm and pleasant. We are very happy to have this newcomer in town and look forward to dining regularly.
