There are many fine people of whom are gainfully employed there. Each month the fee for being a customer of whom exists with the privilege of being connected to their h20 pressurized system pays above $40 prior to the use of their metered water charges which on the surface might sound as if every residences gets kinda doubled whammies. Let me be clear once upon a time (bc I'm that old) the "USER READINESS" fee did not exist. It started (like most things)under $10 dollars & was about that area of price for some while. Every unnecessary drip or endless running toilet can devastate your PPG charge that goes above & BEYOND that pesky READINESS fee. I live as many others do (excluding govt) on a fixed income, fixed lower than I would choose but fixed it is. Now ACCROSS town like Rosedale for example is the folks @ Vaughn(spelling) water district & it's likely their good people too. We east siders are blessed by comparison Trust & believe bc my fixed income allotment for h20 would easily be doubled with Vaughn CSWD. Thanks East Niles & hey what about that west Nile virus thing? Were blessed SEE!

Only thing I can complain about is the rudeness of the people inside. I noticed my name was misspelled, which is common by the way, yet went to get it corrected and provided my CALIFORNIA ID when she asked for it, and guess what? STILL have it misspelled.

Office staff (white, older, heavy set lady with long hair) is rude every time I attempt to communicate with her. She cuts you off without hearing what the billing error (on their part) is. You have to tell her to let you talk so she can finally understand. She gives wrong information, then when you ask to talk to the manager, the manager has to clear up the errors. Very unprofessional. If it wasn't the only water company I would change services due to the rude, unprofessional behavior of the lady. Whatever billing system they are using is not good.

Okay I’m starting to think my water company is shady. The water seems to smell and taste weird, but my bill keeps raising. Maybe someone should contact reporters.

Update 11/20/20:

This is on their website:

“This is not an immediate risk. If it had been, you would have been notified immediately. However, some people who drink water containing 1, 2,3-trichloropropane in excess of the MCL over many years may have an increased risk of getting cancer.”

Very rude to me when I ask about $29 dollar fee lady was so rude said I was lucky the didn't raise it a long time ago. The fee is like 42 now and we are on SSI.

I LOVE our water constantly being shut off without proper notice. Especially on a Saturday afternoon. This water district is a complete JOKE.

I grew up in this district in the 80s/90s, and because of that, to this day I don’t like plain water. This stuff tastes and smells disgusting. My grandmother still lives there, and in 30 years it hasn’t changed. You can actually **smell** the ice made from this water if it was in a glass of soda. Will actually change the taste of whatever you put it in. Grandmother has been buying gallons of clean water for decades. Finally got her a large water dispenser/filter, and the pollutant (heavy metals, etc) numbers before and after are 600+ vs ZERO. Tast difference between tap and filtered is massive. Undrinkable vs clean. Would LOVE to know why this water has been as horrible as it is for so very long. Unacceptable. Beware of moving into this water district!

I don't even know why I'm paying more then $60 in winter, i don't use sprinklers in winter, this is ridiculous, pay $8 of water use and $52 on fees, the bill is never clear.

Rude staff, expensive bills, and just overall an extremely inefficient company. Try to make sure when you’re buying a house that the water is not managed by them.

This water company is just as bad as pg&e.Over the last ten years, rates have jumped yet nothing has been done to improve the taste or safety of the water. The water is contamined with Trichloropropane:A cancer causing containment.I purchase a hundred dollars of drinking water each month because the taste is horrible and clearly unsafe to drink.Instead of using their hiked rates to fix this issue, east niles water district is waiting for a lawsuit to be approved to correct the issue.Go figure.Anticipated correction of this issue is well over 2 years. This screams profit over people loudly.Shame on you east niles water district!
