I’ve been visiting Dodd’s for 2yrs and the staff has always been approachable and helpful. I needed a solution to make my LUMIX flash wireless and the FLASHPOINT flash transmitter that I bought online was unable to communicate with my LUMIX flash. Logan helped me explore some options, patiently walked me through the process, testing & trouble shooting several products until we found a comparable GODOX flash unit that met my needs. Another staff member named “Q” also helped me order a Tenba backpack that quickly shipped from another store. Thank you Dodd’s team!

The folks working this place are respectful, no matter where you’re at on your photography journey. They’ve solved a lot of last minute issues for me and will always have my business.

Been there several times, always with pleasure. The staff are helpful and patient! As a Fuji fan I would say they’re the best in Chicago.

Stopped by this sweet local camera shop and picked up a mobile tripod, LED light and tripod mount from Pro Masters to help streamline some of my on-the-go behind the scenes filming that I’m always pulling off. They do camera and equipment rentals as well as educational events- definitely check them out and support this local, family owned spot! Shoutout to Nyia for helping me out with my search. 🙏🏼 🎥📸

this place not only features very friendly and knowledgeable staff, but the shop is filled to the brim with every accessory applicable to photography and videography imaginable. you will never, ever, need to buy online as long as this store is around!

I recently checked this place out after living in Chicago for two years. I have always been an online camera researcher and shopper unless I was in NYC and could make it to B&H. I did not realize I missed fantastic in-store experiences when looking at camera equipment. *Logan* was over the top helpful and knowledgeable on the products and industry. He was able to help me with some of my unusual requests and special order inventory from other stores. This place is excellent, and I will be coming in here when I'm in the market for new gear or want to geek out. Great spot!

Never had a bad experience, super helpful staff. I have purchased and rented equipment. It's nice to have a reliable photo store especially in the neighborhood! Especially when other photo stores have closed over the years.

I came in for a lens and walked out with a lens, a backpack, and a microphone - all of which I have been enjoying since my purchase. This store is a toy store for photographers. They have a great selection of lenses for my Fuji XT3. What’s nice about this store is you can also see what the backpacks are like; and they have backpacks in all price points. Seeing the backpacks and testing the backpacks allowed me to see what things I liked and didn’t like - something you can’t do when shopping online. For that, I find lots of value in shopping at and supporting camera stores like Dodd. I just tested the microphone (Rode Videogo) and I’m in awe at the improvement of video sound. I loved every purchase I made and will be coming back for any future camera related purchases.

Honestly... They are so helpful and kind at this store every time I've been in. You can't get a better experience. Recently, Aaron was so patient and helpful, he really saved the day for me to be honest. Q was also helpful over the phone before I even came in.

I’ve been buying from Dodd camera since 1994 in Columbia, Ohio. I have bought most of The equipment that I purchased new from them throughout my life as a photographer. They have excellent customer service. Shop local.

This place is amazing. Super knowledgable staff and very fair prices on rentals. Why would you risk buying something you hate when you can try it out in the store or rent it for a day before shelling out your hard earned cash? By far one of the best nerdy places I've been to in Chicago. On par with Chicago music exchange just with cameras instead of musical equipment!

It's fun to read all of the terrible one star reviews for this local gem. And by terrible one star reviews, I mean reviews with little to know base. People just love to complain and think the world owes them everything. Anyway. I've been going here for years and have always been treated with kindness. It's becoming more and more rare to have a brick and mortar camera store with knowledgeable employees.

Camera shop with all your basic needs. From bags, lenses, equipment rentals, 35 or 120 film, or just a friendly and smiling face, they have it. Their hours are great and I highly recommend them.
