Big Bear Ice Arena

On the night of February 4, 2024, I went to this place to skate at around 10pm, it was incredible and the guy in the lobby was super attentive! I love the university environment

This is great ice rink, with a great staff to hold it down as well. I have been practicing here for ages it feels like and ive never had any problems. The entire staff is so just and incredible. Connor who was running the clock for my last adult league game was exceptional at his job and he really loved his job. Plus he gave me a little extra "help" after the game.

My go-to skating rink in Denver. A ton of Public Skate options on their schedule and very reasonable prices. It usually isn’t busy at all (unless you are going during the holiday season. Public skate will definitely be busier than usual then, especially on the weekends) They offer Learn to Skate sessions as well as Hockey… I definitely recommend Big Bear Ice Arena for anyone looking to skate on ice.

Great place to go free skate! Lots of room to pretend you know what you’re doing but then fall on your face.

Great place! Also….this building housed radioactive aircraft and missiles for decades on end. So maybe don’t spend a ton of time here. No joke…it was nicknamed “The Black Box, back when it was a aircraft hanger because they kept all of the top secret projects they were working on in it…Wanna know why they have the concrete rink out front? It’s covering a huge hole filled with radioactive material!

Our son is taking skating lessons here for hockey and he loves it. The people are so nice and the arena is nice. Definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to learn to skate!

Not only a beautiful ice rink, but amazing and attentive staff. A situation occurred in which we needed some supplies and Johnny went out of his way to ensure we received the help needed. Johnny truly made this experience memorable. Thank you Johnny, you deserve a raise!

It's great how they re-purposed the old Air Force hangar

I started playing men's league hockey here at Big Bear about 23 years ago, I've enjoyed it ever since. Mostly public skating these days and some stick n puck now and again.

Nice, clean facility. The staff is friendly and really seems to keep on top of things. The locker rooms are generally clean.

I do hope they re-open the grill & cantina upstairs.

Big Bear Ice Arena is fantastic! The atmosphere is electric, and the facility is impeccably clean and well-maintained. A top-notch establishment for ice skating enthusiasts.

Great facility! Clean and plenty of space. Nice viewing area to stay warmer while the kids are practicing and a big lobby for hanging out.

When we first arrived their was alot of parking space and an outdoor ice rink. When we went inside their was cool wallpaper and many seats you could sit on. The reception was cool and you could even pick between hockey and figure skates. And the vending machine was also a nice touch. The ice rinks were big and very easy to get in a out of. The buckets to help beginners makes Big Bear Ice Areana available for everyone.

The ice was nice and cold, lol! Great arena and nice concession stand. Go Hawks!!!

Fun walking outside, fun watch hockey. Just one of great places in Denver. I feel thrill!

The public skate lasts 1 hr and 15 min, so its plenty of time to practice or to just have fun. Very few people at the public skate on Friday, but a lovely crowd. A good mix of very little skill and very high skill, and every one was very friendly and respectful of people trying to build their skills. There was one person practicing a routine across the whole rink and was still staying out of everyone's way!

Very friendly staff, we have gone a couple times for the public skate, they have decent hours. Only thing is sometimes they run out of your skate size but that just depends on how busy they get. They are never to the point of busy though that skating is no longer fun, like outdoor ice rinks do. The have skate rental. They also have free cones for the littles ones to use to help them skate.

We’ve been taking the Adult Learn to Play Hockey for the past few months and can’t say enough good things about the coach, Peter, and the arena. Everything has been great!

The women’s locker room is a converted storage closet but it’s great for team-building. Otherwise, the facility is clean and really nice.

Have been here numerous times over the last 20 years. I played competitive ice hockey and would travel from fort Collins to play here numerous times per year. Very nice rink, good locker rooms, helpful staff and good ice.. one if my favorite arenas around here.

We just hosted our daughter's 6th birthday party at Big Bear and cannot say enough wonderful things about how great our experience was!! The staff were all amazing but the coach who helped teach the kid some techniques, was SPECTACULAR!!! Thank you so much Jill!! Highly recommend!!!

Great rink with affordable Hockey for kids and adults. I play league and dropins. Our kid takes kids Learn to play hockey classes. Very affordable, comparatively speaking. Really glad I gave Big Bear a shot because it’s a big part of our lives, both now and for years to come I hope.
