Penzeys Spices

Love visiting this place! Friendly faces and helpful suggestions. I did purchase the corned beef spices I came for. Then I found several other interesting items: vanilla sugar, popcorn seasoning gift box, dried minced lemon peel, cinnamon and dill weed.

Love, love Penney’s variety and quality of their spices. I don’t mind paying for quality. Love the specials they run because it allows me to try spices I may not have purchased. I love going to the Cary Street location but would love to have a store in my neck of the woods Chesterfield County where there is quite a bit of growth.

I have been a Penzeys customer for 28 years. I love being able to smell the spices in the local store. The staff is always helpful!

This is a great little store in Carytown selling fresh spices and extracts. I like the fact that they sell small sized packets so that you can try out the flavors before you buy a large quantity.

Always receive friendly service from this Penzeys location and they pack online orders very quickly. Definitely a tad more expensive than grocery store prices but well worth it, especially if you are looking for something more obscure (me searching forever for some fenugreek and finally finding it here 😭) They have great sales if you subscribe to their newsletter. I am definitely a better chef because of Penzeys!

The aroma as you walk in to this place is arresting, in a good way. Tons of selection, helpful and friendly associates, all at reasonable prices. Hassle free purchasing process and a quick turn around. Highly recommended.

Penzeys is the ultimate herb and Spice shop. Love that place and enjoy seeing the people that come in and are fascinated with the selection of products. I've seen chefs, chefs bring there students, culinary students, families and people from every culture. I have given away so many spices because of their promotions and deals I can't stop. Gave away a bag of products yesterday to a friend I haven't seen in 20 years.. few years ago gave everybody in the family a collection of spices I thought they would like. Penzeys is awesome, a delightful experience. I'm glad they have the sniffing jars back since the pandemic.

Absolutely love Penzey's! Went to the Naperville location for years. Moved back to Richmond about 10 years ago and adore the Carytown location. Employees are always friendly & helpful.

We absolutely love Penzey's and their phenomenal spice selections. We go to the store at least once a year to stock up.
Mural of Flavor is our go to seasoning for fish.
They also offer great online deals and fast shipping!

A nice selection of spices. Most available in a variety of sizes. Signs describe blends and suggested use of each. Quite a few were on sale, and we received a free spice with purchase. All spices are also available online. Prices are amazingly reasonable.

Visiting from Charlotte . Stopped in this shop that a true original for Carrytown VA Randi helped us gladly spend our money on some simply lovely spices. Yum!

Always super friendly staff and great sales if you sign up for their newsletter. Yes, it's more expensive than say Mccormick spices at the grocery store but the flavors make all the difference in the world. Check out their unique spice blends for a treat!!

Love the freshness. I also read the "about Republicans" part. Yep, I agree with everything they wrote. None of it was ugly or name calling, just dead on balls accurate. I'd try them based on that alone.

Great experience picking out spices and the staff was super helpful and friendly. We can here to buy bulk spices to make our own pickling blend and it did not disappoint!

Penzeys is the essential spice shop. The staff is extremely helpful and so knowledgeable.

I love this place. I'd be there once a month if I wasn't so apprehensive about driving in a high traffic area. I adore their blends, quality of the spices and their values.

I was looking for some non traditional spices and came across this place. I was so impressed with the selection and quality of their seasonings. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They even have several sodium free blends that are incredible. Each spice has multiple size options at reasonable price points....AND they have a sample of each available to smell/taste!!! I highly recommend, not just for the odd stuff, but for everything. I will never purchase spices at the grocery store again.

What's not to like. The people are very very nice and when it comes to food like most things you get what you pay for. You much pay a bit more by the quality is hard to match. Prime rib blend and buttermilk ranch mix are so flipping good is all good but those two are staples now in this house.

Wonderful selection of spices. Exotic things like flavored salts and spices I've never heard of to more everyday things like taco seasoning. Prices are not cheap, but their stuff is very good quality and there's no filler. And if you want, say, something for lamb or pork or whatever, they have things packaged like that. Also gave me a free coffee mug once, so that's nice.
