Went to Madcap for the first time and really enjoyed the experience and the coffee. My friend and I stopped in ordering a regular vanilla latte and a Miser Brothers. We're not coffee connoisseurs, but the vanilla latte was very rich and full bodied. The Miser Brothers was very aromatic and the peppermint and cayenne combination was surprisingly satisfying.

Situated in the gorgeous Karl Aldrich building, Madcap has a variety of exceptional coffees and a slightly upscale and modern feel. Service has always been excellent, and it's quiet cozy vibes lend well to crafting or reading. Always a treat!

We stopped in midweek around noon and had speedy service. The staff here is very lovely and don’t mind taking the time to explain the differences between espresso drinks (if you don’t know). I got a matcha latte, and it was very well balanced. There’s a small “condiment” bar where you can get creamers (half and half and oat milk) and simple syrup to modify your drink to your content.

Great espresso/cappuccinos. Great service. Awesome atmosphere. Was visiting Grand Rapids with my family and stopped in for my caffein fix. It did not disappoint. Will definitely be back the next time I am in town.

Had an amazing time at Madcap Coffee in Grand Rapids! The vibe is just right—cozy and welcoming. The barista was super knowledgeable and made me feel at home. And the coffee? Absolutely delicious. Definitely a 5-star spot in my book. Can't wait to go back!

This Madcap location is in the perfect spot downtown. Just be sure to get here before or past peak time to enjoy it. Friendly staff and tasty coffee. Really fast service even on busy Sundays!

My wife and I searched to find the best coffee shop in the Grand Rapids area, and I think we found it(prove me wrong). Loved the atmosphere of the shop, the varietals of coffee and the seasonal drinks. Came back for more a couple days later, had a couple of drips, a seasonal and a cappuccino. Enjoyed the coffee very much!

can’t go a week without a visit to this cafe. baristas and staff are phenomenal and super sweet. their espresso (available to purchase as well) is top tier. I noticed that I am picky when it comes to espresso and coincidentally out my two favorite coffee shops in GR, both use the La Marzocco espresso machine. If that means anything to you this is your place, if it doesn’t stop in anyway to taste what I’m talking about. I do recommend coming in earlier though, this place is a hot spot on the weekends especially. and try the cafe miel! It’s a favorite i can’t get away from.
p.s. they don’t charge you for alternative milk options. I never understood the insane up charge for milk that actually suits my stomach, here you don’t have to worry about that

Legit coffee shop. The place ambiance is what a proper coffee shop should be. Friendly and professional staff. The barista knows what he is doing and pulls the shots like a craftsman. The espresso is smooth, has a rich body and balanced acidity. The cortado and flat white are well made with a clean latte art. I look for the perfect espresso wherever I go and this espresso is up to the level of somebody truly into coffee. Worth every penny. The eureka beans for espresso have a chocolate, nutty tone.

I love places like this if you love good coffee / espresso this is definitely the place to go. They know what they're doing although it may be on the pricier side I think that's just because of the location the espresso is worth it staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable about how to make it for me this is a must stop place if I'm in Grand rapids. You won't see me walking away without buying some for home thank you for a delicious cup of coffee to wake me up in the morning can't wait to come back.

Nice coffee shop. I had the cinnamon latte with oat milk. Seemed to be a little cheaper than other shops. And served in a real ceramic cup. Nice vibe. Overall good spot for coffee.

This is definitely a place for authentic coffee lovers. Their espresso was incredible but I wasn't used to the way they made the drink for what it was. No flavorings from what I could read in the menu, no added sugar or whatever either. They have a lot of options for people who want to buy whole bean coffee too! It was honestly a really nice experience but it might not be everyone's favorite. Personally I loved it.

One of my favorite lattes ever...their yam one in winter.. so good.

I’ve tried a lot of coffee in GR and this place has the best tasting espresso. I ordered a mocha and was impressed with the rich flavor of the espresso and ratio of milk. Staff was very friendly and there’s some nice lounging space.

This is a great coffee shop, albeit a bit pretentious.
The baristas seem very knowledgeable and skilled. The coffee and pastries seem to be of very high quality. The building is awesome inside and out. The presence of two bathrooms is highly convenient. The bathrooms are also clean and have nice soap.
The customer base is very much of a certain type of person, more so than other coffee shops. By that, I mean quite wealthy or pretentious. You should not, however, feel unwelcome. Just prepare to be the only one wearing sweatpants on a weekday if you do choose to do that.

Very efficient, we sat next to the station where they’re making most of the drinks and it’s all very impressive. The teamwork is phenomenal and the coffee is excellent.

Excellent place to experience top flight coffee. One of the best roasters in the country.

The staff prepares every drink with the care you would expect from a $5 cup of coffee.

The shop is always stocked with bags of fresh roasted delicious coffee.

I highly recommend trying one of the tasting flights. That way you can experience the different notes that are brought out of each carefully selected coffee.

It is a bit loud so not a great place to carry on a conversation. And the ordering process can be a bit intimidating for the uninformed.

All in all, MadCap is a flagship third wave roaster that will not disappoint any coffee lover. I highly recommend stopping by.

Best coffee and service around! Their sister location in Detroit is just as good.
