The prime rib sandwich was BIG and messy but tasty! I really enjoyed the roasted carrots too - they were seasoned really well! The turkey sandwich was also very good. Just FYI the marinated cucumbers are pickles. The cortado and almond croissant were delicious as well - very big pastries! Pricey but nice place for lunch.

Absolutely adore smallSUGAR!!!
I tried the prime rib sandwich with marinated cucumbers, and the iced golden latte during my visit. Everything was phenomenal!
The atmosphere was very relaxed, great artwork that is available for purchase, and the staff is very polite.
When the signs says they're gratuity free, they mean it! There are no tip jars or prompts asking for a tip.

We love the outdoor area. We came for breakfast and the food was a pleasant surprise! Some healthy eats and giant pastries! Quite delicious!! We brought our puppy dog and he liked the space too! We had the sweet potato dish and it was amazing.

I am visiting from Charlotte and sooo happy I found this place for breakfast! Absolutely delicious and unique. I love good food and this place exceeded my expectations! It’s a must if you’re in the area! I am definitely coming back.

This was my first time coming here and I will definitely be coming back! I got the overnight oats, almond croissant, and an iced chai au lait. Everything was very tasty. I just moved to Columbia a few months ago and have been on the hunt for a new favorite chai and I think I found it here! Staff is very kind and gave good recommendations. Absolutely love the music in here too, some fun throwbacks I haven’t heard in a while. Price is what I would expect for a small business bakery, especially in the heart of the city. Can’t wait to support more small Columbia businesses like this one.

Great menu, amazing food and coffee. 5$ cortado is wayyyy too expensive, even for NYC or LA standards.
Lots of good vegetarian and vegan options.

Cool little bakery/coffee shop in downtown Columbia. It’s a little hard to find down the alley but it’s a great gem! We met the owner who was so friendly and welcoming. Although there is a small, limited menu, the food was fantastic and surprisingly unique. I tried the smallSugar breakfast and loved it. Highly recommend giving it a try. Also, the team doesn’t accept tips and told us that they get paid well by the owner, which was nice to hear.

Needed some grub after a trail run at Congaree and smallSUGAR was the only place that was open and looked decent.

****Gratuity included in price****

Turkey Club; At $17 for a sandwich, you really get what you pay for and it was fantastic! Thick cut carved turkey, tasty aioli, melted mozz & caramelized onions all in between 2 toasted slices of their house made sourdough. The kicker for me was the beets for the side, friggin love beets like my name is Dwight Schrute.

Atmosphere; 10/10. Indoor & outdoor dining areas are clean & have kind of a hipster vibe. Also the staff is top tier. I cannot emphasize that enough.

Parking; good luck, try to come during non-peak hours if you can help it... but then again, this place is worth the hike if you have to park a few miles away. For real though just utilize the paid public parking.

Side notes, the drip coffee was pretty expensive at $5 HOWEVER, free refills and they sent me off with a coffee to-go. Again, STELLAR service. Everyone else seemed to like their specialty coffees as well.

Well decorated, comfy cafe with a wide selection of breakfast items like pastries, parfaits, and toast. Tried the almond croissant and it was delicious. The filling was soft and the outside was crunchy and chewy. It was a bit pricy.

Thought I needed a to go box for my cinnamon roll! Oops. It never made it out of SmallSugar! Tried the bread board first with local honey, almond butter, and butter spread, accompanied with a hot oat milk latte! After I sat there reading and working on my laptop for a while, tried the cinnamon roll and I had a 10 minute love affair with it! Great decor and vibe! The ability to see the kitchen in action adds to the eclectic atmosphere. Love the fresh cold water bottles as well. So glad this business is in Cola; normally something you would see in Greenville! Thank you for offering this to us!

Definitely one of my new fav breakfast spots. Sat in the patio and it was gorgeous. The food? Amazing. The shakshouka-ish came with bread so if all of their baked goods are as good as their bread, they’re in good shape. Will be back.

An absolutely fantastic place for breakfast or lunch. If you’re a mushroom fan, the mushroom tartine is a delight and the soft scrambled eggs…good lord, it’s hard to find the words. A wonderful place well worth your time. And I think it’s so great that they pay the employees a proper wage so tips aren’t part of the exchange.

I have visited a couple of times, great food, pastries, and beverages.
Their menu is not very extensive but there are interesting dishes. I had the small sugar breakfast and it was really good.

The best tasting quality pastries and bread in Columbia! This place reminded me of the feel of good European pastries. They make their pastries fresh and ferment their bread downstairs. The food is fresh, flavorful, and satisfying while not feeling too heavy. We really enjoyed their Matcha Latte.
The decor of the place is comfortable and homey with a rustic modern feel.
Interesting business model of paying their servers living wages without the expectation of tips (they have a sign at the register that says this). Even though they don't get tips the servers are very helpful and kind. They bring your food to the table and refill your water.
This is our favorite breakfast/brunch place in Columbia, highly recommend you trying!

My wife and I walked there from the hotel after hundreds maybe thousands of coffee shops all over the USA. We were served by Angel (I think) and she was outstanding! Don’t ever let her go or I will grab her up. This will be a regular spot for me if I return to Colombia.

We came for brunch and were pleasantly surprised. The food is relatively expensive (menu prices included gratuity), but it was high quality and healthy.

The coffee was exceptional here. We will definitely come back when looking for a healthier breakfast/brunch option.

I had the greens and grains bowl, my daughter and her roommate had the sweet potato kale bowl, my husband had the mushroom tartine with scrambled eggs. The bowls were absolutely delicious and huge! My husband enjoyed his mushroom toast.

The cafe was crowded last Sunday and our party of 4 had to sit at a tiny ledge facing the wall. They were also out of sandwiches. However, it's a nice problem for a little bitty place to have -- so much traffic that you're running out of food at the end of the weekend. I definitely recommend smallSUGAR.

Food was fabulous and cashier was helpful in making choices and describing menu items.
The overhead fans made for a cold seating area, but it was clean and inviting. Staff was friendly upon leaving.

This cafe is a very comfortable, soothing atmosphere. Hard to find if you’re not used to the area, but worth hunting down. The food is extremely flavorful and tastes so fresh! The smallSugar breakfast was the perfect portion size; super filling but not to the point of being uncomfortable. Quick and friendly service. Love that tips aren’t a big deal because they pay their staff a good wage. I will be back!
