Riverfront Marina Newburgh NY

We docked our boat there on a 5 day trip. Newburgh being our first stop. At first I thought $72 was a lot considering we weren’t hooking up to water or electric. Then we were setting up our gas bbq and someone walked up to us and said that we couldn’t use our grille in their marina 🥲. Then the same man said we could use their picnic area which had tables and 3 gas grills. They also let us use their air conditioned kitchen/entertainment room. Along with plates, condiments and they turned on overhead fans that scattered the flies. Also included in the dock fee was swimming which all 4 of us enjoyed. People here super friendly, it was like we left the NY area, something we always noticed when we travel far from home.

The jewel of Newburgh, it is in danger or being compromised by crime. There is no finer place to spend a day walking on the riverfront and enjoying the weather, the view and the local restaurant fare than this well-designed and pretty public marina. You do not need to own a boat to get the same benefits of those who pay a fortune to rent a berth and do the same thing on their boat each weekend (many never leave the dock). There are some innovative dining spots and lots of events, and this could have been the start of a renewal of Newburgh that spread up Broadway to revive this once beautiful town on the Hudson. But there is also some trouble at night that is stalling out this rebirth. Rowdy, undisciplined and sometimes violent gangs that are gathering here at night and driving out those that just want to enjoy the ambience in a safe and relaxed atmosphere. One "club" that attracts this element will drive out the other businesses in short order and leave this area as decayed and abandoned as it once was. Better policing seems to be the only answer, because every time there is a robbery or shooting, fewer people will take a chance. on visiting the waterfront and it will empty out by six and the restaurants and bars will start closing.

There is a large inventory of rundown and empty housing that could be rehabbed. It's too bad Hassidicks didn't choose to cluster in Newburgh where dense, affordable housing was cheap and available. They would achieve the urban density they seek and the greener parts of Orange County could develop normally with existing farms and towns. Unfortunately both Newburgh and Orange County are now suffering the loss of this solution.

Fab, esp on a sunny day in any season. Limited seating but who can beat a great view of the Hudson! A few restaurants - pricey and mostly bar trade. Need more smaller restaurants.

Stopped by for a pumpout. They couldn’t have been nicer or more efficient helping us dock and getting us on our way. Much appreciated!!

The seafood is the best in the Hudson Valley without a doubt very large shrimp great oysters if you like seafood This Is The Place To Go believe me you won't get better than us the service top shelf
