States Coffee

I’ve been going to States Martinez since they opened but it has been a while since my last visit. Pleasantly surprised to see they’ve expanded across the bridge and taken over the old ‘farm + flour’ spot. Dark mocha is a mildly sweet, slightly bitter deliciousness! Apple coffee cake is mildly spiced and has the perfect crumb. The cranberry ricotta toast is on thick country style bread and very good. Love the wood interior (has a barn like feel) with lots of tables/seating areas and seating outside. Thanks for a lovely coffee break.

Beautiful little Bread and Coffee shop! Was passing thru took a detour into Benicia CA and this place was a lucky winner for a quick coffee stop and to recharge. The smell of fresh bread and coffee roasting was celestial! Breads were/looked FRESH and Uber delicious; wish I had room to have tasted and tried some! the coffee is excellent, they roast it themselves and have been doing for years. will definitely come back to this laid back beach town and recommend the coffee shop to others! Did I say the coffee was excellent it sure was!!

States is 100% legit. This historic building is so cute and located on an idyllic street in downtown Benicia. Great coffee and loved my maple donut. Will try to get up here sooner next time to catch some more variety. Nonetheless. Taylor was a DOLL and made my visit so special. Thanks for taking such good care of me. The world needs more Taylors, actually…it would be a sweeter place for sure.

Loved it! We enjoyed Homestead Avocado on Country Bread and Brei I had it on Country toast so yummy. Also enjoyed a Vanilla Latte which paired nicely. Will definitely go back.

The avocado feta toast on fresh sourdough was great. Best paired with an iced Banaynay Carmelizer from Dutch Bros Coffee.

I've been roasting my own beans for nearly 20 years now. I might not be the most discerning coffee drinker but the cappuccino I had was so good that I bought a second. 'Nuf said.

Such a cute coffee shop. All of the food looked delicious but we got a maple donut and cashew butter bread, both are worth going back for. I got an earl grey latte and I loved it. I would absolutely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

A wonderful oasis of quality and cleanliness. It's a bit of a drive from the valley or the city, but you will be rewarded with quality breads, toasts, and of course espresso. The honey latte and avocado toast is my go to.

Classy, friendly, delicately delicious. The lattes were not too sweet and that gluten-free oatmeal raisin cookie was a buttery heaven!

Smooth cold brew coffee. I could easily down the entire cup if I don't watch myself.

They continue to impress. This time the cashew butter with honey toast... Mmmmmm😋

EDIT: These guys are back to 5-stars. They seemed to have some issues through the pandemic but seem to now be dedicated to the same quality they were when they first opened. Great coffee great toast and bread and the pastries from Starter Bakery are delicious; the vegan donuts are also great.

I have had many well crafted hot lattes here and the toast is always delicious. However, I have to knock off a star because the beverage quality has decreased. It seems like they have decided to cut corners and have lost vigilance in making sure they are steaming the milk correctly. Unfortunately, I will not be able to trust this place going forward to craft satisfactory hot beverages.

Love this place, states is awesome in Martinez so we had to try this place, it’s beautiful people are nice and coffee and food is great. I love to support good work and this is it.

Really like the atmosphere & decor - warm, airy, farmhouse style. Simple & clean. Nice variety of large tables and a couple bench seats to choose from. Staff was inviting and helpful. Menu is focused and right up our alley with the sourdough toast and combination of options. We had the apple-pear butter and Brie w/arugula toasts. Two very different but both yummy choices. Coffee is solid, and local too. Pretty diverse customer crowd when we were there Sunday midday; it was pretty full but still an easy place to visit with our three young energetic boys, and not get the raised eyebrows treatment. We’ll look forward to the next time we can stop in!

Best cafe in Benicia.

Great single origin coffees. On par with anything I've had in San Francisco. Expertly roasted and brewed. You won't find better drip coffee. I'd love to see more cold brew options, but that's just me.

Also, they've got great baked goods and toast options. You really can't go wrong here.
