We travel from an hour away to come to this restaurant. The food is better than in any other Indian restaurant we have tried in the midwest. The vegetable pakora is lightly crispy instead of being rock hard, as at some other places. Main dishes are spicy without being too hot, and I am wimpy when it comes to hot peppers. Weekend lunch buffets are a great way to sample many different dishes. Thank you, Maharaja chefs, great work!

Last minute, I had to shift an 8 person birthday dinner to this restaurant rather than the venue we planned. I fully expected to need a reservation with a party that large, but they were incredibly accommodating, even when 2 members were 20 minutes late. We ordered 5 appetizers and all were hits at our table. The staff was so quick to refill drinks and check on us, as well as take plates. Our food was delicious, everyone enjoyed and had more than enough.

I can't stress enough how attentive the servers are. Plus, the staff overheard that we were there to celebrate a birthday, and when we ordered dessert they surprised us with a candle and song, and all wished us a great night. It meant so much to me! I'm so glad we were able to go.

What a FANTASTIC Authentic Indian Food!!

After Visiting Temple, I took my family to Maharaja Restaurant as I had heard much about that .
Waitress explained the menu Very nicely. We ordered some drinks and we preferred to go for the buffet. I liked crispy Punjabi style pakoras and manchurian.

Noodles I didn't like. They could have been made much better.

Potatoes and peas vegetable was very delicious. Even I liked Shahi Paneer preparation. Others in my family liked non vegetarian food too like Lamb curry, chicken tikka masala, Fish Fry but being vegetarian I was happy with very yummy garlic naan . All dishes were fresh and it tasted like homemade food. My son loved the Mysore Masala dosa with the sambar.

They serve Gol Guppas in the buffet but need improvement.

The drinks (certain type) were included in the buffet

Dessert like gulab jamun and kheer was perfect and they also served Mango ice cream on demand. I tasted everything but preferred Hot Gulab jamuns.

Service was super good. Friendly and generous reception . Everything neat and clean. Furniture setting was good and surprisingly no table was vacant. Sarah was our server and she made sure everything was taken care of.

Best thing, we all got private parking.

One if the finest Indian Restaurant i have tried in months. I loved how our server (Sarah) was very considerate, helpful and very smart. I lived the way she introduced herself on the table that she will be making sure everything is taken care of.

We went there in a party of 8 after my sister’s engagement. Since we went for the lunch, there was buffet or we could order Ala-Carte. We chose the buffet as it so many options - both in vegetarian and meat.

Couple drinks were included in the menu. I ordered Mango and Orange Mimosa and few others on the table ordered Taj Mahal Beer.

From what i could recall - they had Mysore masala dosa, pakoras, sambar, fish fry, paneer tikka masala, noodles, lamb curry, chicken curry, matar paneer, Manchurian, Pani Puri, salad. - i am still missing 5-6 items.

But food quality was very good. The naan are served hot on the table.

We enjoyed our food and then in desserts ate Gulab Jamun, kheer, and mango ice cream.

The owner of the restaurant was always in the dining area making sure everything is taken care of well.

Definitely a place to try if you are in Milwaukee area.

Family Owned restaurant - Do support them

We're from Madison, WI. The Indian Restaurants here no longer serve buffets, so we decided to try our luck in Milwaukee. Glad we did. We were greeted very graciously by our host/mgr as well as their super friendly waitstaff. Already a HUGE improvement from the service we get at Indian Restaurants in Madison.

The staff explained that there was a lunch buffet $20. We were there on the weekend, a little pricier than we'd like, however, it did include refreshments such as Mango Smoothies, Mimosas, Bloody Mary's, along with fountain beverages. Their Mango Smoothie hit the spot, especially after eating the various curry offered from their buffet.

Their buffet is small in comparison to some of our older Madison buffets, but they make that size up with absolutely delicious, foodgasmic experiences with their choice selections they put in their buffet table. I chose to get the standard Bread and Butter items, such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta, Goat Curry, and some fried catfish nuggets. Accompanying that was a few spoons of chutneys (Coconut, Mint, and Tomato) as well as some diced onions that I mixed with hot sauce to make my own type of onion chutney. Oh boy, that stuff was AMAZING! The Chicken Tikka Masala had great flavor, although my pieces of chicken seemed to be a little on the drier overcooked side, the sauce along with the chutneys helped overcome that issue.

The Saag Paneer had a great texture along with their cubed/diced pieces of cottage cheese. The Malai Kofta, great vegetarian option here for those that don't eat meat. The sauce is divine with the pieces of Veggie Meatballs, it's a match made in heaven. I personally loved adding some of my onion chutney with the sauce to scoop up with the freshest of freshly made Garlic Naan bread, so fluffy and soft and warm and buttery as well. I do appreciate the fact that the naan is fresh and not reused from other tables like in some of the Madison Indian restaurants.

The Goat Curry was amazing. Great flavors, not as spicy as I would like it, but I just added some of their hot sauce to compensate for that. The meat so so tender, especially the pieces that are attached to the bone. I cannot wait to go back to this hidden gem around the lake area. I talked to my family and relatives, and they are looking forward to trying this place out in the future. Unfortunately, the Indian Restaurants in Madison post pandemic have cashed in on take out carryout orders, that they make up lame excuses as to why they will not open up their buffets, such as "No one in Madison is interested in having an Indian buffet." Good-Bye Indian Restaurants in Madison, hello Maharaja in Milwaukee. I will drive on hour to eat at your restaurant. You're that good. You can have my business anytime. I apologize for the quality of the photos, I'll be sure to take better pics next time. The food was so good, I forgot to take a lot of pics. Keep up the great work. Love, from Madison.

I walked into a restaurant that had the atmosphere perfect for a date night. Greeted immediately with broad genuinely smiling faces. Our service was absolutely wonderful there wasn't any Gap in service at all. The food came out in a timely fashion nothing was missing. I had the tandoori lamb and the curry lamb medium spicy with garlic naan and cheese naan and another curried lamb spicy. The food was absolutely amazing hot well seasoned tender lamb good portions and the perfect amount of food for two. I was made a drink that wasn't on the menu but it was made perfectly but just in case our table checked on to make sure the drink was too my liking asking if I needed anything to balance to drink out which I did not because it was absolutely perfect. The service alone make me return to a place like this. The bathrooms were clean well stocked and tidy a bit on the smaller side but it does its job as far as bathrooms go. The restaurant was nice they had a full bar with bar seating and it appears that they offer to go as well. Would absolutely return 10 out of 10. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed their Sunday sampler plate: appetizer, four main courses, and dessert for $15. The service was attentive. Parking is on the street, but on Sunday for lunch there was plenty of free parking close by.

This place really went above and beyond for Valentine's Day... The decor, flowers, ambiance, complimentary dessert and rose, not to mention the friendly service!! I am highly impressed with one of my go-tos on the Eastside. I hope that you stay open forever.

Places like this are what makes Milwaukee great.

I guess I should not be too surprised. I have never left disappointed.

What a fabulous meal I just had at the maharaja. They have a full Buffay, but I opted for a wonderful lamb dish with rice I had to order the flat bread individually, but it tasted so good. I would recommend adding it or even coming just for the taste of the bread I highly recommend.

I would say this is a really good Indian restaurant, waiters are very friendly and foods are very good. Those food are tasty and authentic Indian style. The Mango ice cream is really tasty 👍 The Mango smoothie is good too. For hot dishes, I would suggest the chicken biryani, tandoori chicken, Chicken tikka masala and goat curry. Actually, I like every kind of food they served 😋

We get take-out from here all the time and it is always amazing! Great flavors and they always have it ready when they say they will. I love the peshawari naan especially, as well as the navaratan korma!

A staple in Milwaukee this is one of the finest quality Indian restaurants in the Midwest.
Attempting to support local restaurants during the pandemic, we made a reservation to sit in. Pleasantly supposed to find ample spacing between tables with every member of staff wearing masks. In addition they prevent takeout orders from walking in wo masks as well. It was a wonderful experience to be able to sit at a restaurant with no concerns and enjoy an amazingly prepared meal.
If your looking for a safe place to eat at then come to Maharaja.

I genuinely enjoyed this place so much I forgot to take pictures except for when we first sat down. Some of the best Indian food in the city for sure. Sanjiv, our server was incredibly accommodating and fun to interact with. He did really well helping out our party of 8. Don’t be afraid to ask your server about the menu items if you’re new to Indian food as well!

One of my favorites restaurants on the east side of Milwaukee. Their signature plates as Rogan Josh or Mango are amazing. The tandoori lamb are perfect too.
