Bodega Bay Surf Shack

Surfer Bob is the bomb. I bought some swimwear and rented a SUP from them for a morning paddle. Their customer service is 10/10 - they made the rental super easy and Bob was a delight to talk with. I'll be back for surf lessons from him for sure!

We decided to go kayaking the next day on a Wednesday so I called and they had availability. It was a great experience. The operation runs very smoothly and they were super laid back. We got our money's worth. The equipment was well maintained and the instructions was adequate.

We will definitely use them again

We rented single and tandem kayaks for a half day. “Uncle” Bob was terrific in answering all our questions the week prior and flexible when we needed to switch from SUP to kayaks the night before. He gave us a detailed tutorial, recommended trail, and how to stay safe. We saw many seals, ducks, and pelicans up close! When we were done, we just had to return our kayaks to the beach, and they took care of everything for us. A lovely, tranquil way to spend the morning in Bodega Bay.

BEST SURF SHOP!!! I love this shop! All of the workers are so cool and helpful. Each time we visited we were well attended. The girl who helped us first, Lauren offered to let us borrow her soft rack for the day because we didn’t have one. Luckily, the shop sold some and I bought some. We also rented wet suits and boards for a great price! When we went to return our gear another guy, Uncle Bob gave us a wholesome surf talk and was glad to answer all our questions. We ended up buying wetsuits and got a deal on 2 boards!

I just went in today and the worker who I later found out was Leo. Had great costumer service and accommodating and helpful. Will be back again!

Can’t say enough great things about our surf lesson through Bodega Bay Surf Shack! Bob was extraordinary kind and accommodating in scheduling my husband and 10 year olds’ surf lesson. We had Nate as an instructor and he was absolute incredible. He was kind, patient and made the entire experience of my son’s first time surfing a great memory. My son now wants a surfboard...needless to say he’s hooked! Wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Where do I begin? My husband and I celebrated our engagement in Northern California last year and stopped by Bodega Bay Surf Shack and absolutely loved it. We got matching sweatshirts that we still wear all the time… which brings me to why I’m writing this review.

I wanted to get my husband a new hoodie for Christmas, and on a whim, I looked up the store’s website and found Bob’s number. I asked if he could send over some options and within minutes, I received a response saying he can help me! He sent over pictures of hoodies, I gave my info, and he’s shipping it so it will (hopefully) make it to Chicago before Christmas! He was so, SO nice and easy to work with.

We can’t wait to go back to Bodega Bay and visit the shack again!!

Awesome beaches & great business! My family of 5 spent time with Miles learning to surf. Miles was super patient and encouraging, explained things very well, GREAT people skills, created a fun and relaxed experience. The owner, Bob, went out of his way to say hello, and the shop staff was super helpful, friendly and took time to make sure we were taken care of. We will be back and will recommend this shop and area to everyone we talk to!!

Awesome surf shack with everything you could ever need to go out in the ocean and have some FUN

Had a terrific time kayaking with the surf shack! My friend and I called at the last minute, and expected that we'd be turned away because of the high winds on the coast. Instead, they proposed kayaking on salmon creek, which is more sheltered. We happily agreed, and Bob met us there for the handoff. He's the best!! We had a great time and would recommend that others take advantage of this little spot!

Great shop for surfing and kayaking. Bob knows his stuff and has been holding it down for years.

Uncle Bob took 3 of us total beginners out for a surf lesson and it was fantastic. Taught us all the essentials in a fun way that was easy to understand, and then got us out in the water and got to doin it! Really fun day and a beautiful location. Gave us gear to keep practicing even after he had to go back to the shop. Highly recommend going to this shop for lessons, gear, just chatting and information, anything you need.

Took a surf lesson from Bob, he has the most positive and uplifting attitude! He took us to some beginner waves and within minutes of instruction my group felt comfortable on our boards. You even get to keep the boards and wetsuit for the rest of the day after the lesson to keep practicing. I would definitely recommend taking a lesson from this shop or just stopping by to check out some gear/apparel.

Went as a first time surfer and was pleased to be welcomed by a welcoming kook. They decked me out with all the gear and sent me on my mary way to shred some waves. The owner some tips and a phat stack of stickers. The vibe was rad and would strongly recommend! 🤙🤘

The owner Bob is a great guy. Generous, knows his stuff, and fun to talk to. He hooked me up with a great new wetsuit for winter.

Great place to stop when you are in Bodega bay. They have sweatshirts, t-shirts, bracelets, wet suits, stickers, sun glasses and much more. Prices are responsible, and staff is always friendly.

The gentleman that helped my son and I was really nice and explained the type of board he needed. Plus he hooked my son up with the essentials he needed for his board. Definitely recommend anyone to visit and shop when in the area.

We rented kayaks and the service was top notch. We are new to kayaking and they recommended we kayak the river as opposed to the bay due to the winds. We were thankful for the river recommendation!!
