Great experience at Runner’s High today. The staff member who helped me was patient and attentive. She measured my feet and made great suggestions. The store was well stocked so there were plenty of sneakers to choose from. I bought a pair of New Balance sneakers after trying 3 or 4 other brands. I’ll definitely be back!

Excellently run shop. Walked in and was immediately greeted by a salesperson who was very knowledgeable and helpful. He asked what I was looking for and what were some of the issues I've faced with other shoes that I was looking to improve upon, rather than just asking what my favorite color/brand/style was. He gave me multiple options based on our conversation and did not rush me out the door at all. He took great care in providing a shoe that would be comfortable and functional. Overall great experience and would absolutely recommend to friends and family.

Sure, you can buy your running shoes anywhere. But then you're risking a purchase that may not be the perfect fit, which will only throw off your game. And, your ankles, your knees, your hips, your back. I've made that mistake and my body 's paid for it. That's why for years, I've been buying my workout shoes at Runner's High in Metuchen, because their expertise is vital to getting the right fit to optimize my performance and minimize aches/pains that come with ill fitting shoes.

When we walked in, one of the owners (Rob) greeted us. I informed him of our search and motivations. One of the 1st things he had me do, was remove my footwear and walk in my socks to see if he could spot an anomaly.
That alone amazed me. Then a further few comments and inquiries, then try a few pair on to identify comfort and any issues.
Not in my wildest dreams did I expect to walk out with a pair. Nor did I consider putting my trust in someone that was helping me spend my money. But, he was Knowledgeable and informative and to the point. I came in with the concept of trail sneakers to fix a problem of longevity and comfort but I was concerned about them being too stiff. He informed me that though it could be possible, it was not likely that trail sneakers would cover all of my issues and interests. The most ideal for my circumstances & the ones he recommended based would be better. Rob stated, if they weren't, after the purchase, he wouldn't abandon me. He'd make sure I was in the right pair for me. He again stated, if not meeting my needs, we had backup options to ensure the right fit and resolve. I ended up going with his suggestion as I thought his insights made good sense. His direction seemed specific and well thought out for my needs. Interestingly, he informed me that my old pair I was wearing, was a 1 & 1/2 sizes too large and that they had almost zero support even when they were new.
He stated I needed more support for my low arched feet. More support and cushioning would help correct my faulty stride. Rob gave me the pair that would keep my constant twisting of my ankles in check with more support and wider base and the slight inward lean that changed my leg and hip rotations and posture & caused pain. The brand On and shoe CloudFlyer seems to be current best option for me.
More later after testing, but so far I'm liking the feel.

Update: At 1st the sneakers were feeling a bit tight and I wasn't sure it would make it into my rotation of normal wear. Now it's getting better with some adjustments. Hoping it continues. If so, real winner. 😉

I had heard from a few friends about the quality of the service at Runners High. I finally went in last week and I was not disappointed. They open at 10 AM, I was there at 9:45 and that was when Craig opened the doors. He was extremely helpful. I tried on a few pair of running shoes and finally settled on a pair after about 15 minutes. The price was very reasonable considering the quality of the shoe. I will be back and I hope this was helpful for anyone in the market.

That was 3 years ago. I went back 2 weeks ago for new shoes. When I got there it was already about noon and they had a few customers. No matter, i was helped immediately. The young lady (sorry, forgot her name) listened to what I thought I needed and voilá, she brought out 4 pairs but the first was exactly what I wanted. I've been jogging and walking in these new shoes for 2 weeks now and I love them! In and out in less than 10 minutes. Great store and people!
