The food was great even comparing with some of the fine dining restaurants in NYC. We had Cheese Fondue and PEI Mussels for appetizers (they are my favorite). Cod and Ribeyes for entrees.
Will definitely be back when we are in town.

Holy smoke was this place amazing! I might even drive the three hours again to eat here. Let me start by saying the atmosphere and lighting is on point! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Now the FOOD, was incredible and worth every penny! My hubby had the beet salad and a side of Parker rolls, which came out warm! His entree was the strawberry glazed Salmon with fennel Cole slaw and sweet potato hash. I had the pear salad special but substituted goat cheese over the blue cheese crumbles. This has a maple balsamic dressing. My entree was the chicken with cilantro rice and chorizo corn salad. OMG it was all amazing. And please do yourself a favor and get the BlackBerry Sangria!

Overall, this was a great experience. The Bang Bang Shrimp were xooked perfectly and the sauce was wonderful.

My son ordered the ravioli and left full and happy. The ribeyes was cooked PERFECTLY.

The bartender set us up even though we didn't think to make a reservation.

If in town, GO.

My wife and I went there for our anniversary. Our food was great, but our server Paige was the best!! The restaurant is loud when it's busy. Could definitely use some sound absorption material.

Very good farm to table restaurant. The sweet potato and corn soup and the were both delicious and well flavored. The polenta cake was very cheesy and good, could use a bit of salt. The grilled cheese sandwich was delicious and the fries were above average. The tofu sandwich was quite well flavored but was a little bit heavy on the bread to filling ratio. Staff was very friendly.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday; portobello wrap was amazing! Great mix of savory flavors and a relaxed atmosphere. Our server, Shannon, was attentive, friendly, and had spot-on recommendations!

Food was amazing! We started with the beef soup each and it was warm, fragrant and hearty, with generous servings of ingredients (apart from the beef). Not too much sodium either.

We got the poutine which was a hit amongst all of us at the table. Heaping servings of blue and goat cheeses with sprinkles of beef and mushroom. Even the poutine-hating Canadian in our group admitted that it was great! Maybe a bit more gravy would have made it perfect.

I got the swordfish with mango salsa, which was on the seasonal menu. It was amazing, giving me decadent bites of flaky fish. The whole concept was reminiscent of a lighter, springtime flavor. The sauce on the side was good, too - no idea what it is though.

The waiter claimed that the pork would fall apart easily. It did. The Johnny cakes were really good, vegetables were the right amount of sour and sweet. Everything went well together.

Beef burger was okay, nothing special.

Best salmon I’ve ever had!!

Despite the restaurant being very busy, we still managed to get seating at the bar. The drinks came immediately followed by our appetizer of calamari and rolls (both were delicious). My boyfriend ordered the ribeye and I ordered the Salmon special. They were both cooked perfectly and some of the best meals we had ever eaten.

We will definitely be back for more soon!

We were looking for a restaurant that served more than just pub food so we decided to check Roots out and happy we did.

First off, the place is hard to find. It's nestled in an area in between buildings off the street. Once we found it things got better. We got immediately seated because the place was empty probably due to Covid restrictions. We had a delicious lobster and shrimp risotto special along with the pork sandwich and a kids burger and everything was great. Service was also very good. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

We have been here a few times and we really like this place. We usually sit at the bar. We had 2 whiskey sours (specialty cocktails). We had the Scallop Salad, which really surprised me. Very great flavors! We had as an app the Brussel sprouts (reminded me of sweet and sour flavor - very good!) Then we had a NY Strip with potatoes, fried onions and caramelized carrots. Good size portion, so we split it.gor dessert, we had their Carrots cake - which was to die forl!! Very pleased with our food and our bartender.

I’ll never make fun of Rutland again!
Best burger in a long time!
Love this place. Stylish, well-designed space. They thought of every detail. Even the undersides of the wooden tables are covered in carpet for sound dampening.
My burger was perfectly cooked to medium-well as I asked. Remained flavorful and juicy. I added a soft-cooked egg and goat cheese, and it was awesome—messy, but awesome.
Creative cocktails.
Small, but well-curated and local draft list.

Just the right amount of upscale and casual. Excellent food, lovely ambiance. Varied menu offers something for everyone with seasonal specials too. We really enjoyed the cheese plate and Parker House rolls to start, chicken and cod were both fantastic mains, and chocolate mousse semifreddo to finish.

Delicious food and great atmosphere. It was a little hard to find at first, since it appears they just moved locations so be sure to go to the 55 Washington Street entrance. My friend and I shared the homemade rolls which were fresh out of the oven and amazing. We both then had the pork sandwich and grilled cheese (pictured). Highly recommend for a tasty and very affordable lunch.

Great food in a tiny little restaurant. Three rotating beers on tap. Good options for vegetarian or meat based dishes. Great service, including squeezing us in even when there were no reservations. Try the lobster cups.
