Parley P. Pratt Memorial & Gravesite

Parley P Pratt was an early church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints missionary. He wrote several books and many inspirational hymns. He was shot by a Van Buren man as he left a meeting at the Masonic Lodge across the street from his Burial site. There is another memorial to him in Salt Lake City on North Temple.

Very simple but nice. My kids thought it was neat, though there isn't much to do other than observe the memorial site/stone. It is a pretty little site. The parking lot is small (2-3 cars), but I don't imagine many people going at once. There is a picnic table, too.

Small and simple but worth a stop on a Church History road trip. Has a few parking spaces as well as a couple picnic tables.

This place is of little or no significants to everyone but members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To us though it is a special and somber place where one of our founders and apostles was martyerd. A must visit site if you are anywhere close.

Wikipedia references an excavation attempt granted by a judge for these human remains, but the grave was empty when opened. Resurrected?
