On Site Physical Therapy

Do not go to this place if you are disabled. I was referred to On Site Physical Therapy for an evaluation. I parked in handicap parking in the front and went up the steep entrance ramp only to find a tiny sign at the entrance that said to use the east entrance to access the lower level. There's no elevator in the building, so a person in a wheelchair or with a walker or cane cannot get to physical therapy unless they go down two flights of stairs. The east entrance is a narrow emergency fire lane on the edge of a cliff. I had to park illegally in the fire lane and wait for assistance to exit my vehicle, because the lane is too narrow to allow safe egress from a vehicle with a walker. If I had had a wheelchair, it would have been impossible. Then the physical therapist had to open two narrow doors that didn't have buttons to open them. I had to navigate over a bump at the entrance and around a sharp corner. When I asked to use the restroom, the physical therapist had to open the heavy door. Once inside the restroom, I was faced with three narrow stalls, none of which was handicap accessible. I had to leave my walker outside the stall to reach the very low toilet. I don't understand why a physical therapist would choose an office that is so completely inaccessible to people who are in need of physical therapy. Not only that, but the therapist spoke to me the entire time in a tone of voice normally reserved for infants. The entire situation was demeaning and seemed designed to take away from a disabled person's dignity. I can't imagine a worse place.
