This is one of the best SS offices. The employees are nice, helpful and knowledgeable. People are not patient enough and don't take into account the number of people that they are dealing with every day and the fact that they have to follow policies when helping us....I think they do a great job!

My last payment fell on 4th week in the month of Feb. The part that was helpful is that I would get a late payment due to only 28 days in the month. It is a leap year so they made the payment for Feb.arrive exactly 3/1/24 plus another Payment on the 4 th Weds in March. Thanks for the once every 5 th year cycle for leap year heads up.

The staff worked through the full waiting room and they worked with each person to complete their reason for coming. We were seen about noon and the staff that helped us was compassionate and willing to understand our needs.Wonderful

Very quick and professional. Arrived 20 minutes early and stood in line. At 9 am, security came out. Gave us a rundown of limited people in the office, bag search, weapons etc - very quick and informational. After about 15 minutes, my number was called. The representative was friendly and helpful, explaining what I needed to bring back for my children's cards and processed my application. Less than 5 minutes. Very true, you treat them like you would like to be treated. Very good experience.

I have nothing but praise for the Salem office. After my husband's death, I was applying for the death benefit and widow's benefits. The agent I dealt with was compassionate, professional and efficient. They needed my marriage license (not a photocopy) to finish my claim. I have problems driving so chose to mail it to them. Mailed it on a Friday, received it back the following Friday with all things approved and money already in my account. I think the biggest problem is getting your call through to the national telephone number. Once you do that and have direct contact with the Salem office, it was easy.

Following the death of my son's father the SSA were quick to process the file AND they were caring and respectful. They seem to me to be very efficient at their job, there was no lagging here. I am so thankful. Salem Office has compassionate people employed. Thank you. And God bless.

Submitted a claim, and before it was even completed, I got a phone call from a staffer asking for clarification. She helped speed the paperwork through in 2 days, it was amazing. She even provided an email so I could email in a missing piece of info. Pleasantly surprised as this was well beyond what I expected!

I don't know why there were so many bad reviews. This was my first time going to the social security office and it was great! Of course there is a line(when is there not?). But if you have all the things that you need, you'll be fine. Print out your paperwork and fill it out beforehand, do some research what documents you will need to bring. And ladies, save yourself some time and just bring your wallet instead of your entire purse. Security does bag checks and if they find something you're not suppose to have (mace, stun gun, etc) you have to go to your car and go back in line. That was my experience as I had mace in my purse and was politely informed that I could not be let inside, so I went to my car to put it away and came back. The woman that did my paperwork was really informative and kind. If you're prepared, it's smooth sailing!

The security guard was friendly when I arrived. He asked about weapons, knives, etc--I had none. He then instructed me to sign in and to be seated. I had a short wait (arrival at 12:19 PM on a Thursday, called to window at 12:35 PM). The SSA agent was competent and friendly. My paperwork was processed and I was finished by 12:45 PM.

I did have the paperwork filled out before I arrived, and I did have the required ID. Given that, everything was smooth and quick. A job well done by the SSA.

I am an advocate for homeless seniors and disabled in Salem, Oregon. My Camper/Advocate Partnerships have received so much help from the agents setting up appointments for my Camper Partners. I'm hoping all their issues can be resolved in a timely fashion.

A very rude and inconsiderate young man was inside the waiting area while i was there. He was playing music on his phone's speaker as loud as it could go. He was not cooperating at all with the security guard. The security guard was very professional and had to escort him from the building. Good job!

Quick and easy. There is an officer that checks purses but he was nice and friendly. Fill out paperwork ahead of time to save time. Make sure you have all necessary documents with you and you'll be good to go

Tracy Bold was fantastic! We played phone tag, but she always called me back. When we finally talked, she wasted no time handling my issue. Then she provided extra help with what actions I could take next. She really cares about giving great service! I wish everyone did this.

The security guard at the door is amazing. Super funny guy. Yes there is a wait - but that isn't anyone's fault. I was in and out in 45 minutes so I was pleasantly surprised based on everyone's reviews stating there was a 2 hour wait.

Yes there was a line, it's a government office so of course. But it went by fairly quickly. Opened at 9 and was out by 9:30. Security guard was nice as were the employees, atleast the one I went to.
