Loved this Campground! We was one of three campers here but it was like we was alone. Great camp spots, has a fire ring, picnic table & a hook for a lantern or trash. This site, (#7), is right on the lake with plenty of space. I really wished we had been able to spend more than a night here but we was on our way back & had picked it at random. What a lucky find!! We will definitely be returning. The site was $15 at a self serve station at the front of the Campground. They also have a pit style bathroom, one men's and the other womens as well as a spicket and trashcan.

We love it here. The day use is $3, well worth it. There are many little pull-off areas to park in, including some the have an actual boat launch and dock. Some of the areas have permanent bathrooms equated to port-a-potties but the bathrooms at the swimming area are nice and even air conditioned. There are plenty of areas to grill and sit and eat. The swimming area is large and even on busy days isn't uncomfortably crowded. The slope to the swimming area is grass and the swimming area is all soft sand. My husband loves to fish here (no lunkers caught yet tho!). We spend our day kayaking around the lake and then stopping to swim and eat. There are lots of little dead end off-shoots to explore. Some days the water is so clear you can see to the bottom. Be careful with a boat with a prop: there are A LOT of tree stumps that inches below the water-line. Highly, highly, highly recommend you give this place a try! We have T-Mobile, and don't have service at any of the camping areas, but have okay service in the dead center of the lake.

In my 68 years of life, I met few good men like Nathaniel!
God bless you, my friend.

Little slice of heaven! Public washrooms. $3 fee for the day -- well worth it. Nice lake for swimming!

I very often forget to take pictures when we visit a new place, dang it! But Horsehead Lake Campground was lovely! We didn't camp here but visited friends who where there for a week. There are only 7 or 8 RV camping sites, no electricity, no water, so if you visit be prepared to be self contained. The plus side is, total silence (other than the noise of the generator)no traffic, zen moments. There are public bathrooms and showers but I can't rate since we didn't use. Such a lovely, shady place. Bring bug spray for biting flies and such, and firewood if you like a camp fire. It's right on Horsehead Lake so you can fish or float in your tube or whatever. Dang, I wish I were younger!

So lovely. We stopped here to camp on our cross country trip off I 40. It was the perfect place to camp and close to the interstate but still secluded. We enjoyed taking a dip in the lake too. The place seems very safe. A short walk to the lake beach and shower.

Clean, quiet, nice view of the lake. One of the best places we stayed on our 4 day trip. Sunday night we were the only people here and only heard 1 car drive by on the highway. The sign says showers and a playground but that must be at some other part that I haven't seen. Vault toilets, water, picnic tables, paved roads and parking, and firepits. $10-15 per night.

Clean and well kept, even the bathrooms were cleaner than you'd expect from a public lake sort of area. Lots of flies in the area at this time of year, but I think that's due to the recent flooding earlier this summer.

We pulled off the beaten path to find this little state campground. Great swimming in the lake after a hot day of driving.
