The fresh pan fried chicken liver was excellent. The dinner salad was simple, but, the lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions were all super fresh and the ranch dressing was very good as well. The side of okra tasted fresh and was deep fried to perfection. Place was packed, but the service was still great.

I'm guessing the diner atmosphere burned with the old place, used to love old south, like 3-4 times a week loved, this was my first and last time I'll come back to this new location. Took 6 muns before we were asked about drinks(6 different waitresses walked by) got appetizer and no olates to eat off of, took 24 mins to get food, hushpuppies were way overcooked, roast beef was dry.....Dear owners what happened, you lost touch with Old South DINER and tried to create a restaurant, sorry I won't be back.

Fortunately for us, as we followed the cracker barrel sign we stop here. Lots of cars is always a very good sign. We were delighted. Great staff. Good food and beverages. Choices not typical for us travelers. Fantastic experience and didn't have to heat my usual at CB down the street. Recommend

Awesome restaurant!! We stopped at this place enroute through Russellville for breakfast. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and had suggestions when I told her I am on a special diet. She kept us supplied in great tasting coffee and then brought our awesome food. It was pretty as a picture and even more delicious. 🙌 Good choice!

Always a great experience when you visit Old South. The new location has improved parking. There will likely be a wait to get in, but that's because it's worth it! From the minute we were seated, we had superb service. Food came quickly for as busy as they were. And the quality is above all. Couldn't have asked for better food or service. Thanks for providing the best dining experience in Russellville.

Adrianna was our waitress and she could not have been more friendly and helpful. Every person working here was smiling, talking with customers, and hopping around making sure everyone was happy and full!
The food has to be some of the most flavorful diner food I have had in a long time! The yeast rolls were amazing! The pies (we had three kinds) were clearly homemade--it makes a difference!
The three of us each had a different entree--each so filling and tasty: the fried catfish, the chicken fried steak, and the vegetarian of our party had veggie soup, Mac n Cheese, and loaded mashed potatoes.
Do not pass this restaurant up--just a few miles, if that, off the highway!

Old South is just an old time classic that still to this day serves amazing food with a smile! Staff are friendly and absolutely there to do their best, serve and treat each and every customer like they're family. Chicken fried steak must be a top recommend, but as you can see in my review photo we definitely had a wide sample of items! May be a new building in a different location, but the service and food has not suffered... It's even better than ever!

Excellent in all ways! Large seating capacity, able to be seated upon entrance + excellent staff to provide pleasant, attentive service, and that's rare. My breakfast burrito, my husband's eggs, hash browns and biscuit w/sausage white sauce were perfectly prepared and delicious.
Everything is 5+ out of 5! AND, the very best coffee that is kept full.
Try it and you'll be returning!
Enjoy!

The service was awesome.
I got the chicken fried steak with brown gravy and it was awesome. Mashed potatoes was pretty good but the broccoli could have been cooked longer and seasoned. But the chicken-fried steak is hand-breaded it is NOT frozen.

This is a great local place eat at. The staff here is friendliest staff I have ever encountered at any restaurant. We went for dinner and I highly recommend the chicken fried chicken. The food here is amazing. It's like something Mom would cook when you were young. Also don't forget dessert. They have some of the best pies I have ever tasted.

Old South was a truly wonderful dining experience. Food was awesome. We had Country Fried Pork Chop with potato and great creamy coleslaw. The white gravy was delicious. Grilled catfish and green beans were best I've had in a long time.

Service was outstanding all around but our waitress CAMBRIE was the best. She was so professional, kind, caring and attentive we felt embraced by her southern hospitality and charm. We regret we were only passing through on our way home to Oklahoma as we would surely be regular customers and ask for CAMBRIE.

One last note on atmosphere is how great the property has been converted to Old South. But a little background music to mellow out the busy open kitchen noise would be a positive addition.

Thanks again Old South....You are the best!

SAME as before the fire in the original location... EXCELLENT!!! Food (chicken fried steak so tender you can cut it with a fork! The hamburger steak smothered in onions and mushrooms was AMAZING!!) The service was impeccable!! The new building carries the 'Down-home, welcome, y'all come on in and let us feed you vibe.'
Will continue to frequent here every time I am in town!!

I’m not usually a fan of this type of food but the joyous feeling when you walk into this place is contagious. Everyone just seems so genuinely happy to be here. I usually get the fried shrimp which is pretty good, but NOTHING beats their breakfast cinnamon roll! Truly the most delicious cinnamon roll I’ve ever had, and very affordable. The food is good but the atmosphere is what does it, even without the style and flair of their old location The Old South restaurant is still serving up slices of home.

Great experience in their new location. It was sad seeing their old location got up in smoke, I'm glad they were able to reopen in this great location.

It was really crowded which was to be expected. We didn't have a super long wait though. We were there an hour maybe hour and a half. Food was hot and good. I got chicken fried chicken and husband got chicken fried steak. Portions were good and decently priced. First time I had been to their new location and first time in years I had been. Good, home cooking and wonderful staff. Will return.

The new location isn't quite the same but food is still great, staff still just as friendly! They are definitely a lot more busy than they used to be due to more room. But, always worth the wait. (Try a flying pig)

My family had an amazing lunch, it was served hot and fresh. The dinning area was very well kept a, the waitress was very friendly and tentative to all the tables. And the prices are very good for the amount of food you get. Easy location to find. I definitely recommend ya come and try.

Great dinning experience. Much better than your average dinner food. Wait staff was super friendly.
