Nells-N-Out

I’ve been coming here my entire life. One of my favorite burger joints, period. Amazing fries and shakes. Burgers are simple, but so good. And Nells has the best fry sauce ever!

For many, many years, they've always had great food, and their drinks are amazing! They're also one of the few businesses who haven't excessively jacked their prices up through the roof.

Love this place. My absolute favorite thing to order are the sweet potato fries w a side of their famous BBQ sauce, their large order is enough to share between three people i’d say. & their drink options are endless! If you like polar bears, you’ll love their marshmallow polar bear milkshake it’s to die for! Forever one of my favorite spots in La Grande. Plus, the lady’s that work here are so sweet.

Decent food for a good price. Staff was helpful and friendly. I do wish the menu had descriptions of the burgers so I wouldn’t have to ask what comes on several different burgers to make a decision.

Not at all greasy, pretty tasty, surprisingly fast considering the line and size of our order (didn’t take more than 8 minutes from pulling in to pulling away with a full double line), real nice service. Vegetarian options. Prices seem high for a drive through but make sense for the quality of food. Definitely a good spot to roll through for hungry travelers.

Excellent burgers, the wait wasn’t too bad. Good service, overall a good experience. They have fry sauce!

On a two day road trip, nearing the end of leg one, we stumbled on Nell’s N Out burger as alternative for fast eating. This place impressed! The French fries were clearly cut day of and plentiful. The burgers were thick and juicy. With each finger licking bite, you will ask yourself how the neighboring McDonalds even stays in business with Nell’s right down the road. Stop here for a bite on your next road trip. You will not regret it.

Great place and the customer service was ridiculously awesome. Man, the lemonade was off the chain and just fabulous. Have to visit NELLS-N-OUT again before I leave LeGrande, Oregon.

Nell's is my go-to place to eat when I am driving through La Grande. It seems every Oregon town has it's historical drive-in where the burgers, fries and drinks are made to the highest standards - Nells is La Grande's contribution to that tradition! You will enjoy the experience, but as they say "It is good food, not fast food."

The food is always fresh and delicious when I come here, it is definitely worth the wait time.

It's very good 😊. The meals and surviving are just right. And the Burger's are very tasty with home stile Fry's. Your in and out in a few minutes. You can drive through or walk up to the window and order. Love the service and the people are very helpful. It's a must try.

I was told I needed to stop here If I drove by on the highway. Just a couple blocks off the freeway and it was great definitely worth definitely worth your 5 minutes out of the way or better yet take a few more minutes and enjoy the town off highway 30. The burgers are awesome I don't know if they're handpressed or they get a from supplier but they were great. Good old school attention to detail. Great shakes, great hamburgers what else do you need. OH WAIT...THE FRIES. These are not your fast food taste like everyone else's fries. These are Scrumpdillyicious. OH YEAH...THE FRIES.

Background: As part of our National Parks tour from our home state of Florida up through New York and then circling around. We were traveling along I-84 in Oregon. We had been hungry for awhile so when we saw an exit with some food options, we decided to pull off. We drove down a road that looked like it was the main road. As we drove past Nell's we saw a line of cars down both sides. That's usually a good sign, we drove a ways drove the road but decided to turn around and grab a bite to eat after we saw a picture of the menu someone had posted.

The food:
Great

We ordered some steak burgers and a large order of curly fries.

The orders all seemed to be made as they are ordered. This results in a hot, juicy burger. A toasted big bun holds together this great tasting beef patty. A sauce topped the burger along with chopped onion and pickles. It was all fresh, hot and delicious.

A paper tray basket was heaped up with curly fries fresh from the fryer. Slightly thinner than normal with no zesty seasoning, these fries were really good. Salted just right and comes with some fry sauce which was the color of a mayochup mixture but the flavor was slightly different.

Ambiance:
This is a little pull through drive up. There is a menu board and a speaker. You pull up to pay at the window. They accept credit cards. Friendly service.

Location/eating area:
Some picnic benches are available to eat your food on. Fruit trees are planted along the line, possibly crab trees and ??? A trash can at the end of the grassy area for your bag and trash.

Great food. Prompt service. They are a little more pricy then big fastfood chains, of course, but so very worth it. Lots of different burgers, chicken sandwiches, hotdogs, a ton of different sides and the drink menu is amazing. Malts, shakes soda both coke and Pepsi.

Love Nell's n out! Their deep fried pickles are the bomb

Small drive through but had enough parking to maneuver my pickup & horse trailer in & out. DELICIOUS sweet potato fries!! Super friendly & willing to make my 5yo daughter's Italian soda just how she likes it. The burgers weren't greasy AT ALL & I appreciated the server explaining the difference between all the burgers/options. SO many to choose from, I wish we lived closer to try more!
