Benson's Homemade Ice Cream

We went yesterday for Father's Day and it was as busy as ever even though the sky's looked like they were about to open up the entire time we were there. This happened to be our first visit of the year and they had a few new flavors we'd never seen before including banana and a few sugar free flavors. If you do happen to go to Benson's soon when they still have their native strawberry available make sure to try it with the banana. You certainly won't be disappointed if you do. There is not a bad choice to be made on the entire menu and don't ever hesitate to try the new flavors because 9/10 times they're a home run. These couple photos are from last year and look to be native blackberry or black raspberry and red raspberry and the other one is anyone's guess. Also make sure to check out their native flavor schedule on social media so you dont miss out because they go fast when available!

Benson's does a great job of offering homemade and vegan ice cream specialties in a country setting. Their servings are rather large so be careful. They're half scoop is the equivalent of most single scoops. We tried the black raspberry and the ginger ice cream both which were excellent. You pay you pay a little bit more but it's considered premium homemade ice cream. There are also gluten-free and vegan options for those with special dietary needs. There's ample parking and a sitting area with picnic tables. All in I'd read it on A-.

As someone with multiple food allergies all outside the top 9 and include corn syrup, being able to have ice cream from a stand takes research and lots of good vibes. Well, Benson's did not let me down on Friday!

We are not from around here, and we wanted to end our day with an ice cream date. So, I began my research early afternoon in search of safe ice cream from a stand. After reading reviews, looking at websites, and calling a few places we settled on Benson's being our best possible option.

And man, did they not disappoint! After telling the woman at the window helping us that I had food allergies and what they were she brought me a binder with all the ingredients! My first choice was a no go so I flipped through looking at what might be safe for me and compared my options to their current flavors before settling in the native fresh fruit raspberry in a waffle cone.

And man, let me tell you, this was one of the freshest best ice creams I think I have ever tasted! Yes their prices seem a little high, but the serving sizes are huge, and the ice cream quality is amazing... so the price is definitely worth it, trust me! And if you are like me and have allergies, you know that the care and helpfulness they provide to serve someone who isn't used to being able to eat at places like this is worth just about any price!

We will definitely be visiting again before we leave town. And who knows, maybe we will find enough freezer space to be able to take some with us!

Best homemade ice cream on Massachusetts 's North Shore. 2 scoops is about a pint of ice cream. You can mix flavors as well. Very polite servers as well.

The family discovered this place when I moved to North Andover/Merrimack Valley area nearly a decade ago and it remains the best stand in the area (Sorry Mad Maggie's). The fresh native flavors sold when different fruits are available are to die for. Fresh peach 🍑 Fresh Raspberry! Fresh native strawberry 🍓🍓 🤤🤤🤤 I need to go tonight now. I'm hungry!

I've been going to Benson's ice cream since I was a kid. In my opinion it's the best homemade ice cream around especially the native fruit flavors like fresh native strawberry.

They have dairy free / vegan / gluten free ice cream options! Had the vegan (which is also gluten free) mint chip and chocolate chip and it was delicious! Great variety here and great service by the staff. Also, they accept credit cards as well and have a cute little picnic and garden area to sit in

Hands down my favorite place to get ice cream. Their Fresh Native flavors are out of this world! Try the Red Raspberry.. You won't be disappointed!

Hands down best maple walnut I've ever had. Nice, cold hard ice cream! Not too sweet and chock full of walnuts. Delicious! Would be nice if it weren't as pricey though :)

Ice cream was excellent. Got the red raspberry and a half gallon of the maple walnut. It was one of the most maple-y I've had.

I have been coming to Benson's since I was a kid and now bring my family. The ice-cream is amazing (made onsite) and the staff are fantastic!

Great ice cream. It is native strawberry time again and it is wonderful. Our newest find was Honey ice cream.
We were disappointed in the peanut butter cup half gallon we got. Full sized cups in there, sounds great but very hard to eat a full sized frozen peanut butter cup.

Classic place for home made ice cream. On hot summer days the line is LONG - very popular. It was cool today, so things went quickly. Ice cream is fantastic!

This is my favorite part of summer, their homemade ice cream is Amazing.
Also the do a fantastic job of packaging take home pints and quarters.

Love the small family owned ice cream places. Very cute place. Good location, right off rte 133. Lots of flavors available. The price has gone up with everything including ice cream. I was surprised how much it was! I don't blame Benson's for the price increase necessarily, like I said everything else has gone up in price tremendously.

One of the North Shore's best ice cream places. It's seasonal, so when they have the native flavors, get those! High quality ice cream. The scoopers are patient and very good. There is a small outdoor seating area with tables and benches.

This family run homemade ice cream stand is so good they don't need advertising.

I'm not even going to tell you my favorite flavor because

1. They're all so good, and
2. I don't want my fave selling out b4 I get there.

If you go around dusk and are worrying about mosquitoes etc, they even have bug spray out for those in need, like me. It's that or sit in the car. I was so relieved to see it!

1 scoop is plenty for me, scoops are big!

Delicious ice cream made with local ingredients. Plenty of outdoor seating for little ones to make a mess.
