Max's Tavern

It was my birthday and I wanted to go somewhere special. Max's Tavern was that place!!
The service was amazing, and the food and drinks were excellent.
A varied menu that made it hard to decide. I started with fresh oysters that were so delicious I would have ordered a dozen but wanted an entrée. I chose the seared duck. It melted in my mouth.
My martini was made to order, and the bartender kept my preferences! I was impressed.
I did want to have dessert and decided to have the banana pudding and indulge at home......I woke up with a food hangover,
and it was worth the pain!
I highly recommend Max's for your next dining experience.
And, I must give a shout out to my server, Jack, who made the evening even better with his efforts. Only he knows!!!

Our server was GREAT!!!! You HAVE to get the Maple Ice Cream…it was delicious.
The 10oz Flat Iton was a 10/10
The Chicken was a 10/10
The Calamari was an 11/10 (YES)!!

Attended a retirement party with about 45 others. It's always a welcoming feeling when one of the owners is at the front of the restaurant greeting customers on a busy Saturday Night.
Never being here before, my expectations were exceeded. The waitstaff is exceptional. They handled the group with the greatest of ease. The food was served deliciously hot and the dessert was very special unlike anything I have had before. I must say, my wife and I will go back again even though we live 25 miles away.
Waitstaff - Exceptional - 5 stars
Atmosphere - Excellent - the rest rooms are very clean and the entire restaurant shows pride from the owners.
Food Quality - Excellent - everything was fresh. The drinks were brought cold and refreshing and everything brought into this large group looked amazing.

The location is great if you’re heading north/south on 91. Parking is easy and free. The food was excellent and better than I expected or remembered. We have been before but the food and service seemed much better this time. We had the chicken and salmon for main course and they were both very good.

All the wait staff, bartenders, and managers will go above and beyond. John Thomas will greet you at the door and his presence is unmatched to another . Keep him there at all cost , he strives for old school management and excellence. He goes above and beyond for his patrons. Your service and kindness means a lot . Travellers, this place has a wonderful tavern atmosphere and a laid. Back feeling that makes it easy to enjoy the great food. We came for appetizers and split several and it was delightful. We had the Caesar salad, tuna tacos, and the shrimp toast which were all delicious and well prepared. The shrimp toast were a treat and don't make appearances on many menus. They were crispy and well done but not greasy. Check it out. We recommend.

Everything you hope and wish for when you choose to go to the local community restaurant. The bartender Matt knew the entire bar's first name and drink of choice. Great happy hour menu, both food and drink. Good draft beer tap selection as well. Beautiful classic red/maroon leather booths for seating. Attached to the Basketball HOF. If I am ever in the area again I will definitely come back!

Went here for a birthday dinner. Staff was very nice and attentive. Food was very good. Highly recommend the Spicy Tuna Wanton Tacos for an appetizer.

This may be the best crab cake I've had... Perfect on a bed of asparagus!

Max Tavern is my go to restaurant at the NBA Hall of Fame and also in the Springfield area. It’s a huge place and the food is always delicious. Great happy hour specials too. Love the brunch Bloody Mary Bar and if you aren’t starving, order a few appetizers and you’re set! Great for family outings, private parties, date night or just to watch some sports and hang.

Experienced the wonderful Spring Green tasting menu. Great experience and the staff was very accommodating. Be mindful that a cocktail is not included with dessert but I added a Chocolate Martini. :)

Allyson was a wonderful bartender to say the least! I used to frequent here often a few years back but after visiting this past time I must say management and the whole team are more on point than ever! Loved the colossal shrimp, gentle giant, and garlic mashed!

The Beat of Springfield lives here ! Beautifully decorated for the season! The atmosphere says comfort classy and enjoyable as soon as step thur the door! THE STAFF WORKS TOGETHER SEAMLESSLY! The sheer variety of menu and drink selection is amazing! .Crafted DRINKS and Hot food served Will keep. us coming back for more!

Stopped in for a drink after a long drive from Maine. The staff was friendly and attentive. Sophisticated appearance as you view the bar area, decor and the uniforms the staff wear. A nice spot to get the driving/riding angst out of your system. Tried the shrimp ceviche as well. Great presentation.

Zoe was a dream server. We had a party of over 15 people and she handled us like a 4 top. The food was exquisite! But the service….beyond belief. The tuna tacos were to die for. And the salmon dinner was amazing. We have eaten there three nights in a row and everything was divine.

One of the best restaurants hands down! The service was excellent from the minute we walked in . The cheddar biscuits with the sweet butter is amazing (on the house). The fried calamari is fried to perfect but still get that chewiness with a lemon garlic aioli and an arrabitia sauce . The main course we got was the prime ribeye steak with au pouvre steak frites. Just amazing . And we ended the night with the banana pudding dessert

The food was amazing. Service was 5. STARs can't remember our waiters name, but he has long hair.. and he was great! Nothing better than a professional server 👌
