I absolutely loved this bookstore! We came up on it by accident and I'm so glad we stopped! So many books, artwork on the walls, comfy places to sit. This is perfect for any book lover!

This is my favorite book shop. Consistently strong collection, good prices, operated by kind and thoughtful folks. Really cozy and warm spot to spend in silence looking through the shelves.

Marked this bookstore a long time ago when I first time visited the area. Finally had a chance to spend sometime in the store. Very nice staffing and great amount of collections of books. Definitely will revisit in the future if possible!

Everything a used bookstore should be. Stacks of books everywhere, couches to sink into, it was somewhere out of my dreams. I go every summer with my dad and always find a good book to delve into. My favorite used book store ever. Worth going to Manchester just for this store.

This little bookstore has such a nice feel when you go in. I love the greeting cards they sell. They're very unusual and ones you don't see very often. Most don't have sayings on the inside but they're so beautiful that you purchase them and write your own greetings on the inside. They have a wonderful selection of books although they aren't a huge store. The owner I believe who's at the counter is very nice.

I purchased a book from Manchester online and it just arrived in the mail. It was shipped promptly with zero issues. Additionally, they had taken great care to wrap the book in packing bubbles to ensure that it wasn't damaged in route. I'm very happy with my book and the service! Would absolutely recommend.

Amazing and very large architecture section, rich in architectural history - best I’ve ever seen outside the specialty dealers…and the prices are better, too!

A great bookstore with piles of books everywhere. It wasn’t overwhelming or unorganized though. There was a good variety of books from each era and in each genre. The prices were good and the employee I interacted with was very knowledgeable. It’s the kind of place that any level of reader could stumble into and accidentally buy a dozen books.

Hands down the best used-bookstore I ever visited. Fabulous selection, night owner and also not expensive. You have something wrong with you if you skip this place when in Manchester-by-the-sea.

I admire used bookstores. I was just passing by and noticed this place. I’m glad I stopped. A wide and excellent selection of the classics in fiction and other great literature. Dipped into the back and found some gold nuggets in the history section. Manchester By The Book is definitely one of my favorites now.

This is exactly the kind of used book store you want to have in your town, especially if you love books the way I do. This is not a place to go looking for something specific. This is a place to let serendipity have its way. I ended up buying a book I’ve been meaning to get for years, and there it was. I found it after happily roaming the shelves and tables. Nobody asked if they could help me. It was wonderful. I’ll be back the next time I’m in Manchester.

Love the large philosophy section and the general quality of the books selected. Chess players, this is your place; I didn’t know so many chess books had even been published as are for sale here.

Quaint welcoming place with books from all different eras. This place is honestly what every bookstore should strive to be. I could spend hours walking around this store.
