Charming museum with beautiful displays! We went as part of the NELUG to display and had a blast! Loved the Clafflin-Gerrish-Richard’s house history since the 1600s. The train displays in the lower level were very detailed and impressive! Definitely take your kids!

What a marvellous place this is! My eight-year-old grandson is fascinated with trains. All the train exhibits are unique, hand-made creations. The trains chug along the tracks; surrounded by custom-made scenery. During school vacation week, we enjoyed a magic show and a movement class. History comes alive in the historic house display. I already became a museum member.

Cute little museum! My son was in loved with the trains and the train outside. We had a little accident, but the team there was incredible in helping us and even shared a popsicle with my daughter. We will definitely come back another time

Had my two grandsons 7 n 4yrs old. They loved the trains. Spent quite a bit in the old house cooking and serving meals. Racing the vehicles down the ramps. Playing on the Thomas train.

A super fun place for the kids, with lots of hands- on activities, more than just trains, as well as opportunities to play with others.

I love this museum. It is a small museum, but is excellent for little ones as well as all ages. The downstairs area offers a few model train layouts in one room and a pretend play area in the next room. The upstairs area has train layouts as well, but also offers a different monthly exhibit based on a historical period. There’s also a pretend play area with a beautiful antique dollhouse. You can also tour a part of the original house which existed before it became the museum. The price is great and they offer multiple discount options. The staff is also a really great group.

This is a really great museum especially if you have a child who loves trains. They have wonderful model trains running both upstairs and downstairs. They have a little scavenger hunt set up for the trains which makes it even more fun. The learning center downstairs is great for older kids and the train tables in both levels is fun for the little ones.

Very, very very cool. My kids really enjoy it here. The staff is very nice and friendly and accommodating.
The train room is amazing and we can spend 45 minutes down there alone. It seems like a small place, but it's easy to spend a good deal of time here. I love it.
You can bring your lunch and eat it up front in the side provided as well. It's really cute.

Great place to take little ones who are into trains and let them play for a couple of hours. Also accessible from regional rail which makes for a bonus trip -- very few places in eastern MA like this.

There's also a museum with non-train things I guess?

Highly recommend! This museum is a hidden gem on the North Shore. For train lovers of all ages, the model trains span room after room and the details are exquisite. There are historical exhibits, too, which are quite impressive - quilts, toys, lake ice mining, and even a restored 1600’s home attached to the museum. The gift shop is also amazing with so many wonderful books and educational toys. My 4-year-old and I were both incredibly engaged!

My 3 year old son had a blast here! He loved the trains and the ice house. It was very quiet and he played with everything for as long as he wanted. I bought a membership and we will be back. A great spot for young kids on cold winter days.

Went there during the "Lego Trains" event. Small museum, but plenty to see, especially if you like trains. Kids would definitely have fun there

Very interesting display of a very historic home. Interesting historic documetation of persons who lived there. In other parts of the museum are collections that are unusual and unlike what is found in other museums. This is a unique place and worth a visit.

Really good kids museum, lots of trains and some hands-on things to do. It is nice that they have train layouts with different scales, however, not everything was running when we went. Also, for an adult train fan, the layouts are not really that interesting aside from one or two; operationally they are quite simple. But again, this is not a problem at all for kids!
