Nine Mens Misery Monument

Neat little monument that you can find up a small hill near the trail. A lot of history about what occurred in the area and the reason for the monument. It was easy to get to but not clearly marked so just make sure you're paying attention to your surroundings to make sure you don't miss it.

Most definitely worth the hunt in the woods for this. Beautiful place to listen to nothing but the sounds of nature and to reflect on this monument. It is not far off the main trail, just keep looking and you will find it on top of a small gentle hill. When woods are thick, it will be trickier. Trails surrounding it are easy trails and plenty of space to bring Fido along too! Park in the lot next to the Cumberland senior center.

Cool place with valuable history. It's not difficult to locate, as long as you keep looking on the east side of the trail, you'll see it. Don't come here just for this! I'd recommend making a loop out of it and stopping at the Monastery on the way out!

Very historical area. Nice easy winding trails. Park behind the monistery along chain link fence.

I didn’t even know it existed until I happened upon it while walking the trail. Pretty nice to see the oldest memorial in the country

Beautiful walking area with a mix of narrow trails and wide gravel paths. Something for anyone who likes to be out and about in the woods!

Impressive! Hard to find off main trail. The oldest veterans memorial in the country!

If you like history, especially King Phillip's War, you need to come visit. Open during library or daylight hours. No one will stop you from going at other times, but it would be hard for anyone to find and help you if you got hurt in the dark. Suggest sticking to daylight/library-open hours.
