Church of the Transfiguration

I just don't know where to begin. As soon as you get out of your car you can feel the peace and serenity surrounding you. The grounds are magnificent and the church itself could not be more beautiful.
We stopped in the shop and were met by Father Peter who remembered we had been there last year. He us a lovely and gracious man and being in his company is such a pleasure.
I only wish we lived there year round so we could enjoy the community more fully.
If you are in the area it would benefit you to stop in and visit.

The tour of this magnificent church was such a wonderful experience. Our docent, Sister Diana, was informative and sweet. The artistry was amazing. The stone work, the mosaics, and the murals were museum quality masterpieces. It was a unexpected gem of a find! I felt a great peacefulness there. They do not accept donations, but a visit to the gift shop is a treat with lovely homemade items. We each left with a treasure.

While they have a most excellent book & gift shop, the highlight of a visit will be a tour of the incredible Church of the Transfiguration. Our docent/tour guide was an actual member of the monastic community. The church is renowned for its transcendent beauty, it's acoustics, and a massive, very unique pipe organ. I suggest that you take advantage of any available opportunity to attend a worship service. I did, and was awed by the experience.

Fantastic church, excellent guided tour

We were given a tour of the church, and were amazed by the artwork contained within. Mosaics that were drawn here, then produced by artists in Italy, then flown back and assembled in sections. The pictures don't do it justice. It's worth the time if you're nearby. Beautiful!

Peaceful, very well kept grounds, simply the nicest people you will ever meet! They are so gracious! Even more so than disney people. Wonderful gift shop. And, yes, I will return here.

Although the church was officially closed by for rehearsal, one of the members brought us on a short tour during a break. Will definitely return hopefully, during their time of prayers though chanting.
