Salty Fly Cape Cod Fishing Charters

My wife and I booked a trip with Captain Avery in fall of 2021. We thoroughly enjoyed our day on the water with her. Her knowledge of fishing and of the history of the area are excellent, and her patience with me being a angler with some experience, but still willing to learn was very appreciated. Sorry this review is so late in posting, but if we ever make it back to Cape Cod, will definitely look forward to fishing with Captain Avery again.

3 old buddies went out for a day of fishing to celebrate a 60th birthday. Boy did we catch fish, what a day!! Avery was fantastic, a great guide and a lot of fun. We'll be going out with Avery again. Highly recommend you do also.

As a new fly fisher I’ve hired Cap’n Avery for a number of charters. She’s been extremely patient sharing fly casting instruction, gear reviews and fishing strategy. Oh, and she’s helped me catch a bunch of stripers. The fishery of Barnstable harbor is incredible and Avery is extremely knowledgeable of area and putting you on fish anytime of the season. It’s always great fun and I look forward to booking more charters this coming season.

Captain Avery went above and beyond for our charter. The winds for the day were forecasted to be a bit tricky, but Captain Avery worked with the tides and made sure we still got out on the water. She made sure that we tried all of the good fishing spots, and she did a great job of explaining and educating us on what she was doing as we moved from place to place. When a nearby boat in the harbor beached itself on a sandbar at low tide, Captain Avery made the right decision to help them out. We picked up the adults and two children and shuttled them back into the marina. Captain Avery was calm and patient, and she even made up the time taken from our charter by keeping us out on the water for a half hour longer than originally planned. Both of us caught multiple striper for the afternoon. Captain Avery is funny, personable, very knowledgeable about fishing and the area, and gave us a great day out on the water.

Had a great trip with Avery today, she worked hard to put us on fish! Both of us landed our first stripers ever, looking forward to fishing with Salty Fly again next season!

What a trip. Few thoughts:
1. The weather was blique, most guides would have cancelled at best, but Avery said” let’s give it a shot, if it’s bad we will turn back.” Turns out the weather sucked for 20 minutes the rest of the time was awesome. We saw zero boats all day except one sail boat. Awesome!
2. I am critical of guides as I also guide out west. She chased birds, fished favorite spots, changed flies, anything to get us on the fish. Guess what we smacked em all day long.
3. Cherry on top, we were headed in after the tides were slowing down and time was up on our trip, but there were a group of birds I was dying to hit, I didn’t say anything just watching, but she was gracious enough to recognize that and said, “ let’s go hit those birds.” Sure enough got another one in the boat.

3 of us went on a half day fly fishing trip while in the cape on vacation. Avery was very professional and we had a blast! Would definitely recommend
