A historic eatery established in 1937! This family run place is a quaint place that we have passed numerous times but decided to make a point to have dinner here last Saturday evening. My wife and a friend of ours joined us for dinner. We started with he pimento cheese appetizer. I had the fried chicken and country ham plate, my wife the half a fried chicken and our friend had the roast beef dinner. The meal was very good. The service was excellent and we had a very good time with our evening in bardstown. If you're passing through or in the area you should give this place a try and enjoy the history.

Atmosphere and food were wonderful service was also great. Chicken was a little overdone and it was a little to warm inside because they are still cooling with a window unit. We will diffantly return. They also have a room upstairs to reserve for large parties.

We had dinner in this historic restaurant. The staff was very friendly and the food came out hot and fresh. The fried chicken crispy and moist - not greasy. The turkey and ham were amazing and all the sides we're flavorful and tasty.

When visiting Bardstown, this was a good choice for old fashioned Country Cooking. I was pleased with the taste and portion sizes overall. Prices reasonable for tourist areas

Best down home cooking you ever put in your mouth. Try the fried chicken fried in cactus iron skillet. Don't forget about the chicken 🐔 livers and home made coleslaw is just to dry for.

Cutest little elderly lady with great stories and home cooking. Been there since they opened. Butter bean soup is amazing.

Great fresh home cooked food. Everything was delicious including the fried corn bread. I had the turkey dinner and my girlfriend had the burger. Even with the burger she raved about how fresh it was. They have been in business for a long time and one meal will tell you exactly why. You won't get a meal this good at very many restaurants. Make sure to stop by if you're ever in town.

Very nice family owned Restaurant, the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and nice. Y'all made it a great evening for dinner with the family. I definitely recommend coming here if you haven't before you enjoy a meal and the atmosphere of a home cooked meal.

Staff was very particular about sanitizing table, chairs and salt and pepper shakers. Fresh tablecloths for each and the hostess and family owner was careful about placing guests for spacing. We were able to chat for a while. Very good food, large portions and attentive service. Well worth the higher prices.

Very enjoyable, one of a kind place. Not only was the country cooking great, the service was top notch! Not too hovering but attentive and friendly. My sister and I decided to check it out because I'm moving away and it was one place we'd never really been together. Needless to say we were not disappointed. Great portions too -- generous without being ridiculous. And it's in a historic building across from a major historical landmark, in what was originally a private home. It's still family run after all these years. Kind of sad I'll be living far away from it now, actually ;-).

First time dining here. Called earlier in day. Made reservation at the host's suggestion.
Arrived at the designated time, received good welcome and was seated immediately. Our group of 5 tried different items. We all agreed everything was delicious. Cornbread and rolls. Salads. The specials: Prime rib or Lamb chops received raves. The chicken(fried and tenders) and livers were excellent. Sides were very good. All tasted fresh cooked, not setting in steamer. Everyone was attentive to us.We plan to return.

Enjoyable family restaurant in old stone home. Good old fashioned southern cooking. Yummy cornbread, pickled beets, and enough food to take home. Friendly and efficient servers. Only downside was it was loud. Not a big specialist in whiskey as some of other bars.

Just the best. The owner hostess was the most welcoming, beautiful soul. The food was top quality. I had the baked fish and shrimp. Delicious. My husband's fried chicken and livers with gravy was to die for. Cornbread out of this world. Thank you.

What a charming, beautiful old place. The restaurant was begun in 1937 in this same gorgeous buildinv and is still owned and operated by the same delightful family. It is in a stone, two story home that looks like a piece of Kentucky history and is divided into lovely dining rooms. Love the fresh centerpieces, fireplace, and cozy dining tables. The menu is loaded. The food is southern and tasty. Love this one.

Took my best friend Chef Eric Brawner for his birthday Saturday. The place was very full but was seated very quickly (hint: make reservations) Once everyone was seated we had time to look at the menu... WOW everything on it looked so good !!! I got the skillet friend chicken with red potatoes and side salad with homemade house dressing. I can tell you that the chicken has to be some of best I have ever eaten. The red potatoes were fried with onions so yummy. The corn cakes are off the page good i ate at least 6. I then had the chocolate bourbon sauce over ice cream they truly do it right here !! I live in Nashville and traveled 3 hours for dinner and its the best 6 hours round trip i have ever made

My family has been driving from Louisville to dine at this restaurant for the past 15 years. The fried chicken is my favorite and you need to leave room for the homemade pie. The food and service is consistently great.
