My first time on a train and was not disappointed. It gives a great taste of experience with a short ride through a small town, crossing a couple of bridges and through scenic wooded area.
A quiet ride while hearing the train whistle and the conductor punching tickets.

Fantastic train ride. I'm biased because I rode in the locomotive. If you can get that ticket, get it. The train ride is very scenic. The museum is nice and has a lot of L&N stuff in it. Everyone I talked to at the museum was knowledgeable about the things there and they couldn't have been nicer. I was last there eighteen years ago and it's really improved since then.

Outdoors there are some old train cars you can look at for no cost. I believe you can enter the building and gift shop for free. I am not sure how much it is to visit the small museum, but our train ride tickets got us in the museum. Train rides every Saturday ($21 for 1 adult). Train ride is great. Museum is small...

Me and my family went on the Santa train. It was GREAT!! We got there early like suggested and we picked up our tickets and looked in the gift shop and got to look in the Museum of all the cool stuff they had about trains they even had a track that was as long as the building with the town and cars and businesses it was so cool. They had photo spots to take pictures. We had hot chocolate and got to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. They road the train with us and took pictures. The train was decorated so pretty. They had lights on the ceiling and gifts and garland on the racks it was so nice we will do it again for sure. At the end of the ride they had snow machines blowing foam snow it was like Christmas it was so much fun.

Absolutely perfect day! This is definitely worth the money. My family will remember the day we went here for the rest of our lives. If you are on the fence about going here I strongly suggest you go. I have three children ages 6,8, and 10 all three of them had the best day ever it was raining and cold on the day went but it didn't matter we still had a great day and the train was dry and warm. Definitely go it's awesome!

The Kentucky Railway Museum, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization chartered in the Commonwealth of Kentucky for the purpose of education of the public regarding the history and heritage of Kentucky’s railroads and the people who built them through the acquisition, restoration, preservation, display, and operation of the rail equipment and artifacts.

Amply parking for larger vehicles
Small road side park with playground
Lots of walking areas to see the trains. Great place for photos

Houses the historic Louisville-Nashville cars. Many cars open for exploration .

Great day trip.

We had an amazing time on the train robbery Sunday. I am go glad me and the kids were able to experience this. This was our first time riding on a real train and we all enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this event to everyone. The tickets are a little pricey but well worth the spend.

We went for the Christmas train ride and it was a great time! Kids get pics with Mrs Claus before the train ride. During the train ride Santa comes through and greets the kids, then theres free pics with Santa afterwards. The train cars are decorated very pretty with hanging lights down the middle. Only thing I didn't like was you couldn't see much scenery since the train ride was in the evening and the lights inside the train were too bright so if you're wanting to see scenery during the ride you'll want to go during the day. This is something we will do every year during Christmas. Well worth the cost.

Best railroad museum in Kentucky has my favorite locomotive Monon Railroad 32 and several other classic locomotives, equipment, and rolling stock from some of my favorite fallen flag railroads.

Yesterday (Friday) my wife and I were headed home from seeing a friend down in Tennessee.
To get off the road for a bit we decided to visit the museum.
What an awesome place!!
There is a really great HO scale model railroad inside.
To visit the museum it’s only $7 a person.
The museum is definitely worth the visit as well as the gift shop across the hall
I purchased the L&N 2024 calendar and a very interesting book about railroads.
Thank you Kentucky Railway Museum

There’s a lot of equipment to see on the property. Be sure to go through the museum in the depot building before going outside. The touch panel in the museum will tell you a lot about what’s stored outside. There’s also a large HO scale model railroad there. The train ride is a leisurely 1 1/2 to 2 hour ride through the countryside.

We stopped here as part of the Harvest Hosts program to spend the night in our RV. It was a good site with plenty of room.

We also visited the museum which was smaller than we expected but very nice with friendly staff. It was also very affordable for a family of six. Overall I'd say if you're in the area, it's totally worth checking out!

I had a great time here today. I got the locomotive cab ride ticket. It costs a little bit extra, but it's worth it for anyone who likes trains. The engineers and breakman were very friendly and knew a lot about the locomotives. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys railroads 11/10

Me, my 3 kids ages 3,3,4, my sister, her two kids (ages 8 and 11), and our mom went on the Easter train. We got to see the Easter Bunny, Conductor, was given treat bags, and each kid got to hunt 12 eggs when we got back to the station. Each egg had different things in it which was nice for a change, some was stickers, balls, or puzzels. My kids enjoyed the train and the egg hunt!

Had a great time riding on the train. The staff and volunteers were very friendly. The history shared was good.
We ride from New Haven to Boston and back. At Boston, we had a shift stop and were able to go to a country store.

I had an absolute blast at the museum and taking a leisurely train ride with my two boys. The museum isn't really big, but it has an awesome model train set that spans the length of the large room (it's really impressive) and has lots of little artifacts from the good ole days that are interesting to learn about. The train ride itself was fantastic. The conductor was really friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The ride was leisurely and enjoyable. I had fun just gazing out the windows and moving at a slow pace. It was nice to be taken back in time.

The only thing to keep in mind, and this isn't a criticism, is that there's no restrooms on board the train (ride is 1.5 hrs with a stop half way) and there's not much in terms of food and drink selection. There's nothing on the trains and there's only small selection at the museum before departure. The stop in Boston, KY does allow you to go into a convenient store so it's not like you don't have a chance to grab a snack. Again, that is in no way a complaint, just providing info for people that might assume there's food on the train itself.

All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I can't wait to go back!
