Legion Park

I visited my sister who still loves in Owensboro, where we both grew up, and took my nephews to the Christmas lights at Legion Park. It was surreal being back there as an adult, taking some kids to a thing I used to do as a kid. The part equipment is a blast. The lights were great. The paths are smooth and fun for the kids' scooters. It was awesome.

Peaceful environment with plenty of large, mature trees that shade the entire park and give it its unique feel. I like to take my dog here because I can take the leash off of him, and he can play with other dogs that may be there in the designated fenced-in dog area. Also, this particular park is perfect for picnics.

Beautiful park with lots of huge trees! The playground area is wonderful with equipment for all ages. It even has recommended ages on everything. There is a walking path that goes around the whole park. Restrooms are available also

I actually feel safe letting my daughter ride her bike around here, and of course the puppy is always happy to meet new dogs in the park. Very clean, zero trash, zero graffiti....nice to see a community keeping it clean, reminds me of Germany...well done

A nice place for kids to play and have fun and a nice workout area free to the public oh and did I forget to mention…..a zip line at your child’s fingertips

This park is a wonderful little oasis conveniently located with easy entry & exits. It has a decent amount of parking, 2 pavilions available for rent, multiple picnic tables, restrooms, a walking trail, benches for adults to sit while keeping an eye on their kids playing, a decent sized updated playground area with equipment that is suitable for both small & larger kids. The zipline & the recessed merry-go-round especially are favorites. They also have a small but fun water area during the summer. The park has lovely big established trees for shade, is clean with conveniently located trash cans & is well maintained. My family has been coming here since I was a little girl for reunions & holds lots of wonderful memories for me.. even if the old hot metal slide is long gone.. I'm now making new memories with the Littles in my family here.

We loved the little begging squirrels who had CLEARLY learned that people who picnic'd here would give them little bites of food. So they get really close but not in reach to grab some fries other delicious snacks!! Oh the playground is cool too!

We had a family gathering. The pavilion was nice and clean. Screen's on the windows allowed for a cool breeze and no bugs. We had 8 picnic tables and 2 serving tables provided, along with trash cans, electrical outlets, ceiling fans, and lights., and Brooms to sweep up.
Will definitely book again.

One of our favorite parks to go to we absolutely loved the water park and just having a walk around the trail is great. We also have picnics here and love when the winter comes and the decorations go up !😍

It's always so peaceful there.
My children and I actually had a very unique experience yesterday June 3rd, 2023. We witnessed a squirrel that hopped into the drinking fountain because it was extremely thirsty, I took it upon myself to press the button for the water fountain for the squirrel, so that way it would be able to quench its thirst.

Just stopped in to kill some time. Didn't even get out of my car. I know from previous visits that it is a nice park.

We live close by. There is a 1/2 mile walking track wandering through the park, mostly shaded by huge oak trees. The play area has many features (swings, climbing attractions, slides) and an adult work out area. Water area with a huge dragon sprayer. Plenty of picnic tables and 3 rentable shelters for large gatherings. Lots of parking. 2 fenced in dog areas for large and small dogs. Restrooms available.

My favorite park in town since moving here to Owensboro earlier this year, however the squirrels at this park are a little nuts and run right towards me and others 😆 maybe people have been feeding them.

The squirrels will eat right from your hand & even sit in your car lol

Castlen Dog Park is so awesome. Owensboro is very blessed to have this available to their dear pets and their owners. I have developed friendships with several pet owners that I am thankful for.

My kids have outgrown the playground which is sad because it has been redone. It looks like so much fun!

We had a family reunion in one of the covered shelters. It easily held 50 of us, I think we had 60 two years ago. Place was clean and easily accessed from the parking lot (carrying dishes, plates, coolers, etc..) Need to make reservations early for these.
