Havana 1959 Cuban Cuisine

Wow! What a great find! Looking for Cuban food after touring Mt. Dora? Look no further. One of us had the $10 roasted chicken lunch special, one had the mixed appetizer plate, and I had the mofungo with chicken. The pictures don't do justice to the flavor explosion you taste. From the price, I was expecting an ice cream scoop of mofungo but I got a coffee mug sized serving. The chicken stew with it was so delicious. We had to take home leftovers. Our waitress was superb. We were obviously tourists and she treated us like regular customers. She refilled our drinks without asking and took time to explain things even though she was the only one serving. I wish we were staying in the area longer so we could have tasted everything on the menu

You need to eat here!

Let me start off with the pork roast meal which includes the normal sides of beans, rice and plantains. The shredded slow roast itself was incredibly tender, breaking off easily into flavorful bite sized pieces. It was SO GOOD! And the plantains were cooked to perfection, with a slight crispy outside and fully cooked interior that just melts in your mouth! This is absolutely my new favorite spot.

My husband ordered the steak sandwich which was cooked similarly to the pork roast, slowly and perfectly, filled with flavor and accompanied by delicious plantain chips. It looked incredible on the plate!

Both were good eats in huge portion sizes. Like I said, come eat here!!!

The roast pork was delicious. We also had the yuca with mojo. Everything was delicious. Don't go if you're expecting quick service. They make everything fresh as you order. So your plate is not "hot" like other restaurants that heat your food. Very authentic Cuban food.

Our first time eating Havana 1959 but certainly won't be our last to eat here. Had Cubans and tamales, both huge and amazing. The menu looks completely delicious, so it won't be long before we're back.

Love this place! Portion is huge and food is delicious. However service is slow since they are too busy but not enough people working. Will be back!

I was working in this area and think in a plate of bread stak whit arroz congri. This place, which goes above my expectations, was delicious. The music, the servers, especially Katherine (Katy), have the hospitality complement the atmosphere really feel like you in a paradise island feel like abuelas house for lunch and a authentic café cubano make you wake up thanks for have this place ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We Google displays to see what kind of great Cuban food we could have while visiting from California I have to let you know that we were very impressed my flank steak was fantastic and they came out with the largest avocado we've ever seen in an avocado salad. I am very impressed and our waitress was fantastic thank you have Havanna for being so kind!

Great little place. Service was fantastic, the food delicious with large portions for a fair price.

We came here for some cafe con leche and I realized my tire was flat. While we worked on it a waitress brought us water. When we finally got it taken care of, we went inside to enjoy our coffee and rice pudding and she brought us bread on the house. Generous and kind folks. Great atmosphere and food! Shout out to the guy who lives behind the restaurant who had a lug wrench and pipe!

From the outside the place is nondescript. Take a chance and try them out. Great service and the food was great. I had osso bucco and my date had a Cuban steak. Very affordable. A go to place for me from now on.

Went for the house fries but sampled the plantain chips.
My sandwich was very good but would go for the Cuban next time. Same reason I would pick the plantain chips too. Other menu items looked like they need to be sampled.
We will be back.

The food is great, very tasty and made to order.The owner always stop by the table and check on you and how you like the food. Is one of those hidden jewels like you will find in Calle 8 Miami but better food and excelentnt prices!

There is a wide variety of options. I went for a Cuban staple the roast pork and wasn’t let down a bit. It had excellent flavor. The yellow rice was very good and fluffy and the black beans were just right with lots of seasoning. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality.

Visited Havana 1959 for the first time & I was quite impressed. I was born in Tampa & I lived in Miami for many years, so I know Cuban food. I have to say this is the best Cuban food I have found outside Tampa & Miami. I usually travel to Tampa to eat Cuban cuisine but I have now a restaurant close to home that I will be able to enjoy the Cuban flavors. I am certainly looking forward to returning & trying more items on the menu.

This quaint, authentic Cuban restaurant was a fabulous find! The food is amazing and certainly worth a try. Love it!

Went there for lunch with our friends. Food was delicious, price was reasonable, and staff was great. We would go back. Hope for much success in the future!

Slow night, but food was delicious! Had the oxtail with yellow rice and Cubano sandwich with plantain chips! Absolutely fabulous, quaint little place, highly recommended if you get the chance. This was our Uncle's favorite place to get Cuban food, sadly he passed, but we'll always enjoy this restaurant and the eclectic foodie he was.

Great food and excellent service, can't wait to try the whole menue!!
