The Bread House

On our last day visiting family here in Albany they took us to this quaint yet large local restaurant. Besides being just a restaurant it supports individuals and a local organization that helps people with addictions.

We started with the Cheesy Herb bread bowl which turned into a feeding frenzy after the first bite. The dipping sauce had a little heat.

I got the BLT with candied bacon which I sat silently eating since the sandwich was so on point as were the fried cauliflower for my side.

My wife got the French onion soup sandwich. The au-jus sauce was a wonderful addition to her entree.

Our lunch companions enjoyed the Squash hunger protein grain bowl and the Mushroom swiss burger both winners. Side salad were served in Unique salad bowls.

Place was wonderful would not change a thing.

I tried the Breadhouse with some friends and loved it! I had the Zambian Chanwich and it was delicious! It was a little pricey, but the proceeds go to a great cause so well worth it! We’ll definitely be visiting again!

My first time visiting here and wow, what a find! I forgot the name of the dish but it was a poppy seed bagel with bacon, lettuce, tomato, guac (with no onions!!), and smoked salmon! It came with homemade chips and omg the whole meal was to die for!! Josh, our waiter, was very attentive and friendly. Loved all the nooks and cranies for seating. Definitely check out the baked goods! I left with half my bagel and some yummy chocolate chip cookies! Will definitely be back!

This is one of the best places in Albany. (Though the bar is very low considering the restaurant scene here.) The food is good and the snickerdoodle cookies are the best I’ve ever had. Fair warning: If you come at the wrong time, the service will be slow.

Let me get down to basics..

Atmosphere: 6 stars.
Debbie, the owner, and her husband Tim have contracted some brilliant minds to create a motif that is straight out of a country living spread! Everything is gorgeous and well thought out! Function follows form and creates a esthetic that is both pleasing and remarkable to behold.

Service: 6 stars.
We were served by Becca who was astounding but let me get back to that... I arrived thinking that I was trailing the rest of my group of five... So I had a chance to meander around the premises. In doing so I was pleasantly created by employee after employee smiling and asking how they could be of service. I eventuay realized the rest of my party were detoured, but by this time I was already seated at a table with the appropriate number of menus and ice water from a pitcher. By the time the party arrived 5 minutes later, we already had an appitizer on the table! Fantastic service! Becca was not only good but she was a precog, anticipating our needs.

Food: 6 stars.
Once in a while you come a cross a restaurant that does different good. This is one of them! Please try the pomento cheese pita dip! Everything I tried was delicious and beautifully plated!

Beautiful space in downtown Albany. This is a great local place to grab some good food while supporting a local business and a good cause - they support a local women's recovery center, Graceway. It's also a great place to book special private events from bridal to baby showers as well as rehearsal dinners, or even weddings. They can create custom catering menus to fit your specific wants and needs.

Always awesome and friendly service! I'm vegan and I love that I didn't have an issue with finding something on the menu for me.

I had the Southern Chicken Shawarma it was delicious. Service and and atmosphere were great. It was my first time going I would definitely come here again.

I’m so sad that I’ve been here 2 years and I’m just now finding the place. Everything was absolutely beautiful! Including the atmosphere, food and people. Can’t wait to have family in town to show them this gem.

The ambiance is welcoming, down-home charm. I have a new favorite restaurant. I had a turkey Swiss panini. Delicious. A band played during lunch. The staff was professional, quick, and courteous.

my friend and i tried it on today and it was great. the service was great. the young man who seated us, pulled our chairs out and made sure we were good. our server, i believe is named Derek, was also great. he definitely made the experience better. the staff is friendly, food is good and the place is beautiful. we’re definitely going back:)

Came here for lunch and had Janie as our server! She made such a memorable experience! Such a great and positive attitude! She was very attentive, kept our drinks full, and plates cleared! She also made an excellent suggestion of the snickerdoodles!!! Best server ever. Will be visiting her next time we are in town!!!!

My family always considers The Bread House and Granary our absolute FAVORITE restaurant in Albany and we always request to be seated wherever Janie is waiting on people as her service is Always on Point with gracious care and wonderful menu suggestions ! Thank You Janie ! I love the Cobb Salad. Make sure to leave room for the Bread Pudding for dessert. It’s Spectacularly delicious !

Ive eaten at The Bread House several times and the food and service is consistent and of a high caliber.

We had a great experience here! The food was delicious, the service was great, and the various baked goods for sale was icing on the cake! For our meal, we started with the white bean and collard green soul (amazing!) and we had the signature burger and fries for our entree. We will return!!

It was great. So glad we stopped here on our way through town. Lexi was awesome! Brandy was super nice to our daughter too!
