Darwell's Cafe

Just moved to LongBeach MS and was getting my oil changed when the ladies walked in with this food that smelled amazing. Asked where it came from and then left there to go try it out.
I was not disappointed. If you ever want to find a great restaurant, ask the locals where they eat.
Portion size was large but it didn’t stand a chance with me. Ordered the CrawDaddy Burger. The sauce makes the burger and it is so FRESH! I got a side of potato salad that was perfectly creamy. No one ingredient o er powered another. Many times the onion is all you can taste but not in this one.
This will become one our regular spots in our new home!

We like to find the local restaurants to try when we travel. We enjoyed the staff and food. My son had the enormous crawdaddy burger and ate every bite. The etouffee, red beans and jambalaya were also delicious. The best part was the dessert. Caramel bread pudding and the snickers brownie. This restaurant was actually on Triple D with Guy Fieri more than once.

Excellent food, owner & wife are super friendly. Had to check them out while we were in Long Beach. Was checking out places to eat during our stay, and checked out their Facebook page. They have a clip of their spot on "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" with Guy Fieri. You gotta try this place and if you do get you some Etoufee!

Whooaaaaa! This place here! What a gem of a find while traveling through Long Beach, MS. The atmosphere was funky and fun! So much original unusual and fantastic art to look at! The service was unlike any place I’ve been to! The staff makes you feel like royalty with their attentiveness. And the food? O M G
The crawfish etouffee with shrimp was out of this world!! Hats off to the chef!

Amazing restaurant, from the food to the southern hospitality! The photo with the larger plate was from 2019. 4 years later and it’s still just as good!! The Crawfish Étouffée and Red Beans & Rice are my favorite! Darwell’s a must when I’m in Mississippi!

If you're ever near Long Beach, MS this place is a must!!! The Red Fish Nawlins is to die for. It's one of my all time favorite meals!! I've eaten here for years and not once been disappointed!! Thanks for the great food as we were passing through Sunday!!

My first visit was wonderful, food was amazing, service was great very friendly people, atmosphere is different but very nice. Will definitely be stopping back by next time I'm passing through.

Just 15 minutes off I-10 and a half mile from the beach - don’t just blow past - stop and get authentic and fabulous local seafood - it’s worth the detour! Fantastic fresh seafood, super friendly and helpful owners and staff. Very informal and the dining room atmosphere is... groovy!

Always a favorite and has been for years! We love the food and friendly owners/staff! Highly recommend and we’ll be back for more crawfish étouffée!

I saw Darwell’s on DDD last year. So glad we checked it out! The crawfish etufee was some of the best I’ve ever had! Friendly family style service and unexpected ambiance. We’ll be back next year!

Okay, wow. First of all, the owners and employees here, are absolutely incredible. The food, something else entirely. I can't convey how good the food is. These people truly love what they do, and it shows in the service and the food. This changed my perspective on customer service. You NEED to go here. Your stomach will definitely thank you for it.

We saw a show on national TV spotlighting Darwell in competition. The food was said to be unbelievably good. We had to find out for ourselves. Wow! It was fantastic, yawl need to find this little place and enjoy cooking beyond expectations.

Some of the best food on the Gulf Coast. Not as big of a menu as the original restaurant, but they are slowly adding to it. But the quality and taste is superb. This is one of those "local spots" that all the local people know about. Always friendly service and sometimes music on the weekends. Check them out.

Update: I'd like to add to my original statement about Darwells being some of the "best food on the gulfcoast". It's actually some of the best you will eat anywhere. It's always top of my list when I tell people from out of town where to eat at. Don't forget to try their homemade desserts. I tried the caramel bread pudding today, and it was done of the best bread pudding I've ever eaten. Make sure you don't miss out on Darwell's unique experience and food.

This place quickly became our favorite go to!! We've yet to dine in but look forward to our take out a couple of times a month. Still my very favorite Ettoufee. The hours have been set and every time we've been the hours have been accurate since my original post. I would give more stars if I could! The owner and his wife are awesome! So friendly and accommodating.

The only negative I have is that the hours posted online aren't the actual hours. We drove over there Friday at 7 and it was closed even though on the internet and the bussiness Facebook it stated they were open till 8. I was sad as I looked forward to this visit all week.
We reached out on Facebook to find they open at 11 and close isn't really a set time, so give them a call if your looking for dinner on Friday or Saturday.
Today (a Saturday) my husband was able to stop in and get us an order to go. I was dying to try the crawfish Étouffée as I haven't found any worth mentioning since moving to the Gulfport area. We were able to buy by the quart. (How ever if you wish to do that we were told to give 24 hour notice.)
It was worth the wait!!! Fantastic!!! Just what I was craving if not better.
They don't short you on the crawfish either!!
My husband was pleased with the service as well, everyone was friendly. They offer by the quart or gallon prices, which makes it a little more affordable for our family of 6, I appreciate that for sure!

I was traveling from Florida to Louisiana with my dog. I went in to order and told them I was going to go walk my and come back for my order. To my pleasant surprise as I came back with my dog, the lady was coming out with my order. Thank you! My shrimp, Poboy was excellent! Thanks to my client that told me about this fine establishment.

We went to darwells because of triple d. The owner was there and talked to us in person. Every single thing was incredible. The crawfish poboy with their sauce and the Verde sauce was incredible.

Very friendly staff and good food. We had the crawdaddy burger and the shrimp scampi. The bread for the burger and the garlic bread was perfect.

We haven’t been to Darwell’s in some time, but coming back again made me realize why it is one of our favorite places to eat. The ambiance of this restaurant is magical. There are lights all around and local art all over the ceilings and walls- pouring out into the outside area. Before we reached the front door, we were greeted by the friendly faces of their amazing staff. There were so many options, but I went with what they’re known for- their famous etouffe. They had many more delicious offerings as well, such as shrimp scampi with crab cake. It was my son’s birthday and they all took the time to bring a piece of their delicious brownie a la mode made by their talented resident baker. Everything was made with love. On the way out, there is a variety of spices and accoutrements one can buy to try to mimic the flavors in their food. If you ever come to Mississippi, go to Long Beach and check this place out. You won’t regret it!

First, there are no deep-fried foods on purpose as Darwell, himself, informed me shortly after I walked in. I arrived on a Monday at about 1220 pm. All of the patrons were sitting outside under the canopy of trees and vines - a beautiful place for a meal. I learned that the crawfish ettouffe recipe here is in Guy Fieri's cookbook, so I had it over angel hair pasta. The crayfish ettouffe was da bomb bomb - highly recommend it, especially over rice - sampled that also. The service is just about the best ever - attentive and anticipating patrons' needs. Make this place pop - fill it up. Local folks making a superior product from scratch daily!

Definitely one of the top 10 places on the MS Gulf. They are reopened since the shutdown are worth the trip a few blocks off the beach. I put them on my Michelin star list and will bring my friends on my next trip to the coast.

Did not disappoint. Very good food, zChef Darwell came by to see how we liked it.
