This park has it all, a playground for children, hiking trails, and unlike most nature preserves even restrooms. When you enter the park you have to look around to find the entrance to the trails, follow the paved path. It may seem that things are not well marked, but once you enter the forest and pass the planetary walk (plaques of all the planets) you will see all the trails marked very clearly. The River loop is a little longer than it says but still very manageable. It'll be an easy hike for even beginners. There's a nice flat path once you get down the hill that goes along the river. In the summer, it's going to be extra muggy near the water. A review on a hiking website said it was one of the top 10 trails in the Durham area. I disagree but it is certainly worth a visit. Trails along the Eno are much more scenic, and I'm not sure why it's called a river it's smaller than Ellerbee Creek

It was a great hiking experience with my dog! They have a nice area for families and kids, but the trails were great, plenty of shade which was nice and easily navigable. Would definitely recommend!

My family visited this park for the first time today. It was such a lovely experience. Very clean and beautiful. The kids enjoyed the bike trails and the parents enjoyed relaxing and reading while they rode. We look forward to going back again soon.

Small beautiful park and trails. Very quite trails. I was the only one in the whole park on a wonderful Saturday noon. There are three trails and each has its own characteristics. Takes about 2 hr to complete all three.

Great place north of Durham, a much smaller park compared to the Eno, but very convenient for those living outside city limits. A few hiking trails, mountain bike paths, lots and lots of picnic tables, and a short paved trail for those with strollers or wheelchairs. It's clean and the trails are clearly marked. Used to have horse trails too, but I think they no longer allow horses.

A much better maintained park than I was expecting for a regional/county park. Trails well maintained (both hiking and biking from what I could tell), great views of the river, clean bathrooms at the parking lot. We hiked, but definitely want to come back and try out the bike trails at some point. Such a nice place relatively close to Durham that I never knew about.

Nice and shady. There are both 7 miles of hiking trails and mountain bike trails. Took the Southern River Loop trail which eventually takes you to the slow, meandering Little River. Nice if you have a "water dog" (we do!) The trail is wide in most places and can accommodate a rugged stroller but there are some places where it would be a major challenge. The park has a playground, bathrooms, and nice, covered picnic area. Very popular with families with young kids and dog owners. Gates are locked at 7pm.

Lovely 2m hike. A bit of rugged terrain compared to other local trails. Be prepared for the hills!

Paths and trails are friendly to both humans and dogs of varying abilities. Take a short walk or put together a longer hike if you wish. Trails are well marked with good walking surfaces for the most part. And no excuse for not picking up after your dog; there are multiple pet waste stations so grab a bag if you forgot yours at home. Parking is plentiful and attended by rangers. Also a popular place for mountain biking on trails reserved for cyclists.

Do you like to frolic? Do you enjoy hiking in a loop? Does the outdoors call your name, luring you constantly? If so, this little park is for you. And yes, the river is little. Very.

Great park! Good hiking trails, though steep at time, so not for younger aged children or people with knee/back problems. One paved bike trail that is very easy, one non-paved trail that is very nice to walk on. Very informative signs about the farm buildings that are on the site. Friendly staff. Nice bathrooms and playground. Very beautiful location (can't emphasise that enough)!!! Anytime I go is a great experience.

Lots of different trees, some have signs to explain them. Nice place for a hike or just a little walk. Covered area with tables for your picnic or somewhere on your hike in the forest. Bring your dog it's a great place for your fur baby.

All time favorite park! It's quiet, clean and relaxing. Pristine bathrooms, two covered shelters with picnic tables, paved walking trail about 1/4 mile long. Numerous hiking and biking trails, events all year long for kids and adults. Playground suitable for kids around 2 yrs old with a parent's help. I do wish they had swings though. Also great for parties and get togethers.
