Dr. Rivera ghosted me, a bipolar, schizophrenic, borderline patient. As far as they know I haven't had a mood stabilizer or antipsychotic in 2 months. Bewilderingly negligent behavior. I could be in the psych ward due to their choice to cut me off with no explanation or even a response from their team. I was quite fortunate to have enough money and wherewithal to see someone else at a different clinic. Avoid this place at all health. Dr. Rivera likes to posture as queer-positive and trans-positive but at the end of the day, they fumbled DANGEROUSLY and RECKLESSLY with a very sick patient, and it would have only taken an email or referral out to make it right. No regard for a high risk client that already has severe abandonment issues. I would give this clinic less than 0 as a rating if it were possible. Disgusting.

Please do not entrust these people with your health. These residents run the office with ZERO supervision. You roll the dice with each new resident. I recently went cold turkey off my meds due to my "provider" being out of the office for over a month and nobody calling in my refill. I told her I was not ok I left numerous messages and it was only AFTER requesting records for my attorney (for SSI) that I spoke to an Attending. By this time I was suffering from complete hopelessness (side effect of stopping any anti-depressant abruptly amongst worse things such as suicidal thoughts) . Prisma also never returned a call for a complaint.

VERY unprofessional. I called before even coming to this appointment to make sure I could still be seen and was told yes by the answering service because it was 12:50 and the office did not answer, (apparently out for lunch). I get here and they stated because I’m a new patient who did not fill out paperwork yet I would have HAD to come 30 minutes earlier? I’m sorry, but I’m 6 months pregnant and this is a gross inconvenience to me and how I feel. The doctor and staff should have continued to accommodate me by letting me fill out the paperwork while I waited, because there’s always a wait. Better communication needs to be established.

DO NOT GO HERE! They will lie, give you terrible/negligent health care, ignore family medical history, waste your time/money, and never contact you back. I came to see “Dr.” Jordan Merrels. I was lied to from the jump. I was referred to them for med management. The person from their office confirmed with me that this was for med management, not therapy. When I got there, the receptionist confirmed that this was for med management. When I saw the “Dr.,” she confirmed that this visit was for med management. So I was lied to 3 times by 3 different employees already, as this visit was not for med management. It was so that they could try to convince me to do therapy with them, which I stated was not what I came to them for. I have tried 2 therapists, and they did not help at all. In fact, they made things much worse. I left WAY more upset than I was before. After speaking with her, and explaining that my depression medicine is working great, the therapy I’ve tried was terrible, and two different anxiety meds I’ve tried were ineffective, I was told by the “Dr.” that she probably wouldn’t ever change my meds. She said if anything, she wanted to keep me on the ineffective anxiety meds AND take me off the effective depression meds?! Then she wanted to force me into therapy, which I made very clear I was not interested in, because it only upsets me more and is not cost effective. So the “Dr.” ignored everything I said, then went completely against my treatment wishes in every way possible, which is a HUGE factor in mental health care. But what really destroyed the tiny bit of credibility “Dr.” Merrels had left, was when she looked me in the eyes and lied through her teeth. I told her that all the anxiety meds I’ve tried do not work, but I have 3 immediate family members who are prescribed a different anxiety medication, and it has worked wonders for them. I was told by the doctor that these meds (benzodiazepines) would not be effective. This was a blatant lie. I know that, you know that, my 3 family members know that, every doctor on the planet knows that, the person popping them for fun knows that, the federal government knows that. You just don’t approve of that as a treatment method because of the stigma surrounding them. So to avoid those, you suggest taking me off a depression med that has worked wonders and is vital to my mental health. That is a GIGANTIC risk that is absolutely not necessary, and as far as I’m concerned, medically negligent. Then you have the nerve to look me in the eye and say “benzos don’t work,” when you know that they do! In what universe do you tell a physician that you have the same ailment as 3 family members, and they have all had great success with a particular medication, but then the doctor goes, “yea but those won’t work on you?” Family medical history is one of the first things doctors look at, yet this one completely ignored that and suggested a very risky treatment method as an alternative. And how convenient is it that the treatment option you chose, against my direct wishes, would make you more money? Trust is HUGE in mental health care, she managed to blow that in the first visit. I have been extremely upset for the last week over this; WAY more upset than I was before I saw this “Dr.” I called to ask if I could see a different Dr., who wouldn’t lie, ignore family medical history, and suggest irresponsible treatment methods. The receptionist, Monique, told me that patients can’t change doctors. So I’m forced to see a doctor that lies to me and is completely negligent? After arguing with her, she put me on hold and never came back. Called again, she answered after 1 ring, but then realized who I was, put me back on hold and never came back again. Tried to call back, she refused to answer the phone at all. Came up there and said I’d like to speak to a supervisor and will happily wait however long that takes. After 30 mins, I was promised I’d receive a timely call back. 3 days later, still no call back. Obvious they only care about their grossly inflated paychecks, not the patients.

The staff only care about pushing numbers, not about actual patient care. Don’t go here unless, like me, it’s the only place you can afford. Referrals take 8-10 WEEKS to process, just for you to roll the dice and possibly end up with a clueless doctor who will delete your chart without any prior notification.

They take too long with refferal service . They are nice but not very efficient. With your classified information. They need to be aware when people are in drastic need of psychotropfic help. They are not and the residential doctors don't know hippa regulations very well for SC. Thanks
