Hampton-Preston Mansion and Gardens

What I love abt Columbia is its true old school charm with some of their buildings. This place has beautiful gardens to stroll through, take a picnic or just sit and enjoy the scenery. I went for a festival and it was the perfect backdrop for the event.

The gardens have free public access on certain days. Check the website to be sure before you go. The gardens are amazing to walk through and lovingly maintained.

Didn't do a tour inside, but loved wandering the garden here. If you only have time to look around, this is the one to see.

Historic house with plenty of gardens to walkthrough on the grounds

The Hampton-Preston Garden is one of the best places for a lunch stroll in Columbia. It’s full of beautiful vegetation and has a host of different paths that are excellent if you have young children. Make sure to check out the greenhouse, it’s one of the most beautiful structures in Columbia! The Boyd Foundation did an excellent job restoring these historic grounds so that everyone can enjoy!

I once lived in Columbia historic district where my home was only around 10 minutes walk to those historic buildings such as the Hampton Mansion. Travellers can join a guided tour provided by Historic Columbia to visit this mansion, Robert Mills house and Woodrow family house, etc, although the price is a little high, about $10 for each place. All these places are well preserved. Moreover, those stories from the past are awaiting their listeners.

We had our nieces baby shower in the carriage house of the Robert Mills House. Prior to the shower as a special thank you to all the attendees we purchased tickets for them to tour both the RMH and HPM. It was absolutely wonderful!! The staff made everyone feel special and Heather continuously checked in on our event to make sure everything was up to our standards!!! What a beautiful experience for our new parents to be and their guests!! Thank you to everyone that made our experience so wonderful!!

House and Gardens was impressive. Even though house tour was closed, we had a good time walking through the garden. I was happy it was dog friendly as well.

This is a dream wedding and event location. The grounds are plentiful, and the main lawn is preset with tent anchors. You should definitely stop by and see their new greenhouse. It comes with a catering kitchen that has its own separate entrance/exit.

This is my favorite of the four Historic Columbia House Tours. It's the biggest, grandest house with the most beautiful gardens, I really enjoyed my tour. My volunteer guide was super chatty and fun, I liked her a lot! Make sure to walk around the gardens and read all the signs. The memorial pavilion to the right is really cool. All tours start at the Robert Mills gift shop, and then you walk across the street.

Our family member had her wedding reception and rehearsal dinner at the facility. Gorgeous venue. Well taken care of!

Absolutely stunning. Went there for an after party after an Historic Columbia event. Gardens are in bloom and well maintained. The new greenhouse structure is beautiful and would be perfect for an event space in chillier weather.

The gardens are newly replanted based on historic records and include many native species. Absolutely beautiful place to visit and be inspired. The plants are well marked and the signage is informative. The site includes water features.

This is a beautiful and well-maintained property. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable on the history of the property and the stories of the people who lived there. She was very passionate about the subject and pleasantly engaging with the tour group. Highly recommend for an educating and entertaining view of Columbia history
