I was originally referred to Dr.Phelps by a physical therapist who noticed that Dr.Phelps patients had a tendency to heal quicker than patients from other Dr’s. That was 7 years ago and I’ve been making an hour plus drive since to see both Dr. Phelps and Dr. Hay. I’ve received back and neck injections almost annually with Dr. Hay until the decision was made to move forward with Surgery. I was confident in Dr. Phelps surgical skills, but reluctant because of the anticipated pain following the surgery. Let me go back and preface this with the fact that in seven years of being a patient I have requested meds a handful of times (when the pain was extreme). Dr. Hay has always listened and never let me leave without some relief. Having heard rumors that Dr. Phelps was an excellent surgeon, but didn’t believe in the efficacy of pain relief, I was terrified. So much so, that I actually canceled the first surgery. After years of the physical and emotional toll of pain, the last thing I wanted was to have a major surgery and be left hurting yet again. I am now 21 days post op from a fusion and not only did the surgery go incredibly well, Dr. Phelps has also been proactive and responsive to my pain control. It’s common knowledge that pain medication is a taboo subject these days and the Dr’s hold a huge responsibility to keep patients safe while also minimizing pain for optimal healing. And Dr. Phelps
Is doing that.

Additionally, my physical therapist has said that I’m doing incredible for being 3 weeks post op. The combination of having an excellent surgeon and adequate pain control has afforded me the opportunity to put forth more effort in physical therapy thus improving my healing process. I highly recommend Dr. Haye and Dr. Phelps if you’re looking for a skilled team to help with any back situation you may be experiencing.

Dr. Phelps is the absolute best. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Des (unsure of spelling) . I am 4 weeks post Lumbar Fusion and just received more necessary paperwork to be filled out. 3rd set requested, one for Short-term disability, one for FMLA and now this specifically for my job!! 😬
She was so very kind to offer to get in done while I waited, which was incredible since I'm not allowed to drive yet and my daughter is my driver.
This whole office has always been so kind, but this is top-notch 👌 👏

My husband is 15 days post back surgery, is pain free and feels better than he has in a long time. Dr. Phelps and his staff provide excellent care, I could not be happier with his outcome!!

In my 60+ years I have never been TREATED SO WELL by a medical staff. They are absolutely AMAZING. Special shout out to Dr Hay & Alicia. They went well above and beyond to solve an issue for me. THEY TREAT THEIR PATIENTS AS IF THEY MATTER. Also, each time I visit the office , staff is always so welcoming and cordial.
Thank you all for your kindness and professionalism. …..TEG

I have nothing but good things to say about this office. The office staff is prompt, cheerful, and professional. Dr. Hay and his assistant, Trina, definitely put me at ease. Dr. Hay went over my MRI results in detail in a language I could understand. I was able to have my initial appointment and get my epidural steroid injection within 24 hours of each other. I'm very pleased with Spine Works Institute after calling other places and my initial phone calls not even being returned.

I have seen Dr. Hay for almost two years now. He is one of the finest physicians I know. I have had injections and now am under a medication management pain program. He listens, is personable, and creates a comfortable experience. His assistant Trina is also outstanding. She listens and captures the right information for Dr. Hay before I see him. I never wait on the phone to reach someone and prescriptions are filled that day. A pleasant experience starts at the door with the primary receptionist Pam and others who relieve her. Always a smile and a welcome.

Everyone here was great!! I was having low back pain after tweaking my back, I went and saw Brock and he listened to me and after some x-rays suggested I get an MRI. My MRI experience was great! They have an MRI on site, which was very convenient for me. I saw Dr Phelps after the MRI he listened to me as well and explained all my options in great detail, but suggested I get an injection to start. I came back to the office for my injection by Dr Hay which was yet another convenience being in-house and my back is so much better! I will always recommend Spine Works to anyone I know that has back pain.

I have had nothing but excellent care from their facility. They;re are plenty of nurses, Dr's ,and assistants. Dr. Phelps handle my case professionally and very well. They all listened to me about all of my issues, since after being put off for 6 months with all the Dr's from Baylor. My symptoms became severe and had gotteb worse to where I was siting at work and I had fainting spell, lost vision and other issues , so I had to go to the hospital to have a CT scan on my brain. I now do not have full movement in my ring and pinky fingers, so I am not able to type normal. I was having seizures in my nerves in the back of my head that shot up behind my ears. I then had to have extensive nerve testing to test or any permanent nerve damage. My hands and feet still go numb , tingle, and swell up and I began to have bad tremors. One orthopedic told my I had neurological issues or MS. Prior to a diagnosis. My doctor kept saying Hmmm... I don;t know why your elbows and arms hurt so bad and go numb. I dealt with severe pain for 6 months. They took forever just to start with the 1st set of injections. I then stopped going to them and started seeing Dr. Phelps. He was appalled they had dragged it out so long to cause more damage and pain. It had ended up being two herniated bulging discs with bone spurs at my cervical cord. They had finally collapsed so the 2nd set did not work. Dr. Phelps took the time to spend almost an hour with me starting from the beginning . Dr. Hays does not prescribe the meds people. It is Dr. Phelps and or Dr. Brock Smith. When I had to call they would see me treat me very well. I love all the nurses and staff I dealt with. They know you by name and follow along with your treatments. They know what is gong and they listen. Dr. Brock Smith is the P.A. for Dr. Phelps. He handles the post opt after the surgery. He examines the x-rays. Sire that is all he does, but listened to me and would note and let Dr. Phelps know of any new symptoms. I have nerve issues, the issues with my hands. I have to take a Naropathy med.for tremors., being all of these symptoms had started prior to to my issues getting so severe I was scared that I will remain handicapped or worse. I still have issues and they are treating me for other symptoms that has arose after my surgery. My job is a fast paced job and I have to sit on the phone and type fast work from multiple screens and systems and now I could not meet the requirements and I am so scared of what that would do to me. I have to make 100 calls a day while collecting money, doing customer service, emails etc. and I cannot even type normal and have to wear glasses or my vision will fade out. They are only for readers and small print, but a prescription. I go to therapy and it makes more pain. I have issues with the major disc at my neck. It became huge and makes me look like I have no neck in back. I have Cervical Radiculopathy and cannot bend my neck back yet or very far. He had never seen a case like mine.
