As others have said, this place has a TON of information to read plastered all over museum. After you explore the upper floors go to the basement and check out the diorama displays, they are very well done. You'll def. see and read/learn some interesting tidbits at this museum.

AMAZING details! Great staged recreations...even if a bit primitive (even that was good!) Dedicated 3 floors with testemony of those who were there.
What a very well put together museum!
Definitely, a great attraction.
The staff was very helpful as well.

Pictures cannot do justice. There's three levels of this museum and be prepared to read a lot! There's a lot of interesting photos as well so give yourself plenty of time to browse. I've never been to Abilene so be aware it's nestled right in downtown. Great museum!

This museum contains a decent collection of equipment and weapons used by both American and German forces during that period. There are a few vehicles out back including a Sherman and mock Tiger I turret which you don't get to see too often. The large scale dioramas in the basement was quite interesting, chronicling specific engagements on a miniature scale. A few areas felt somewhat lacking though, like simple photos with a few lines of text on a plain white wall (almost something you see on a wiki page), I feel this might improve in the future with more interest to this location. That said, while this museum is far from being the best, it's still a must for any WWII enthusiasts and worth the $5 admission price. Go check it out!

We visited on a Saturday with our kids, ages 7, 5, and 3. While I wouldn't categorize this a a "kids museum," our kids found plenty that held their interest! We will certainly return as they get older and can understand and appreciate more of the history and stories this gem houses.

My sister and I attended the 76th reunion of the 12th Arm. Division Assoc. in our father's memory. He served with this Division during WWII (flew as a Forward Air Observer) and his 25 years of Army papers are housed in this museum.
This was my 3rd visit to the museum and enjoyed the new exhibits.

This WWII museum is one of Abilene's hidden gems. There are 3 floors of various aspects of the war. There are American uniforms, guns, equipment, medals, and much more. They have a whole section dedicated to Nazi memorabilia from their weapons, guns, equipment, uniform, medals, etc. There's a section dedicated to the holocaust, a prisoner of war section, another dedicated to different vehicles including a tank, and so much more. The admittance fee is just $5 for adults and it's definitely worth the price. Spent over an hour here and I'm highly satisfied. This is a must come!

Very interesting place to go look at . Staff friendly, 3 levels! I'd recommend starting in the basement before going to level 2.

It was an absolutely amazing experience. The museum was gorgeous, well spaced out, and had a plethora of information. The 1st floor has a lot about the 12th and Camp Barkley, and it was a stunning experience. 2nd floor was great, with German displays and US displays, it gave a lot of information about gear, uniforms, etc. Basement was amazing, with an INCREDIBLY detailed diorama, it was an amazing experience. We definitely recommend it to anyone even mildly interested.

Here they pack a whole lot of history and some very well preserved items from the WW2 era along with many, many valuable stories sharing experiences of the 12th armored division and the WW2 in general. Here a group effort has taken much care and dare say, love , into preserving a piece of history in pristine order. I will have to return! I didn't have enough time to see everything in detail which all deserves to be seen. Thank You.

If you enjoy WWII history this is a must see museum. Very good displays and the history of the division is well documented. I was unaware this division was a designated holocaust liberator division. That aspect of the museum was really incredible to see. Well worth the time and little bit of money to get this historical info.

A first class museum. They honor and reverence is palatable, the ghosts of these men and women tell a true factural account of the joys, hell and terrors they faced in WWII. The curators did an amazing job telling the stories, showing all the artifacts. Three floors, but take your time and get to know those that served willingly, you may just leave with tears in your eyes like i did.

There is SO much to look at and read. Fascinating stories, letters to love one from war zones, an eye opening Holocaust exhibit, and much more. Make sure to get the radio that provides you with more information on each exhibit.
