This is old school diner complete with counter and bar stools. And loads of pig memorabilia! But the food...yum! I had the Mr. Pig omelet complete with hash browns and biscuits and gravy. The omelet was loaded up with bacon, sausage, onions, cheese and came with a thimble of tasty salsa. It was cooked perfectly.

The hash browns were okay. I had to add salt (which I rarely do) and pepper, but there were some nice crunchy bits which were great.

The biscuits were tall and ready to handle big spoonfuls of the peppered gravy. Of course, I added more pepper because YUM. I don't usually take leftovers but I liked the gravy and hope I can just heat it up for a later treat.

This diner is not high brow, and maybe a shiny layer of paint or a nice fat pink pig chef mural might make it sparkle, but it is filled with staff who know their customers. The servers greet their regulars by name or a hug. It's kitschy with the huge collection of pigs of all sorts. It's serving good country style cooking with lots of comfort tucked in.

Closed on Sunday and Monday, and no plans on closing their business (as someone mentioned in a previous post). Cash only.

Old school diner with great made from scratch food served on melamine plates AND amazing waitresses who call you sweetie or honey! This is a must try eatery for the nostalgia of it all... and a really great meal. Cash only is accepted. There's an ATM on site if you've forgotten.
Friends had the lunch special of Chicken fried steak that came with mashed potatoes, green beans, creamy corn, a fluffy diner roll that reaches toward the heavens & a cute little serving of peach cobbler for dessert. With their iced tea & tax, it was $10.01...Amazing!
Steak & eggs is served all day & comes with crispy hashbrowns, 2 homemade biscuits & a bowl of gravy for $15.99. It's my favorite, though I haven't finished it once. 🙂 Highly recommend!

Food was delicious, and service was polite and quick, as usual.
There were 3 in our party and we walked in shortly after 6am.
I had 2 eggs over easy, with 3 strips of bacon, and an orange juice.
My dad had 2 eggs scrambled, with sausage, and a cup of coffee.
My son had the Spanish omelet, with biscuits and gravy, and an apple juice.
Food came out quickly and the waitress made sure we were taken care of while we were there.
Great little diner to visit if you're ever in Abilene.

Great place to eat. The service is awesome. The food is truly to die for but the best part about it is the family environment you feel as soon as you step inside. This place is a true gem of Abilene and I would recommend it to everyone. You won't be disappointed

We stopped in at the Dixie Pig as we were passing through town where we throughly enjoyed a delicious breakfast omelette, a bacon egg and cheese burrito, along with excellent Texas style hot salsa. In addition, to savoring full flavored and robust tasting coffee.

The waitresses were all very personable, attentive, and quick with coffee refills. They got our breakfast prepared and brought out to us in short order.

We even enjoyed a short visit with the owner, wherein she described how the Dixie Pig has been open for business continuously since 1931 in the same location serving the greater Abilene area all the while family owned and operated.

It was great food, the dining rooms super clean and neat, and we loved the pig figurines lining the shelves on the walls. We look forward to the next opportunity we have to stop in again.

This was simply amazing!! Food and service was really great. This restaurant has been here since 1930 with the same owner since 1981. Don’t miss eating breakfast here. The Mr. Pig Omelet with fresh biscuits and gravy was incredible. Enjoyed this experience for sure!!!!

This is a neat old style cafe. It is an old family owned and operated restaurant! There is a non-alcoholic bar to sit, order, and eat at or you can choose to seat yourself at a table to be waited on. The service is good and the food was prepared and served quickly. I had two eggs over hard that came with three slices of bacon, hash browns, and two huge biscuits with gravy. This was all for about $7, if I remember correctly. This is a neat place to eat with good table service.

This was the best meal we had on our trip to Abilene. We stopped in for breakfast and found a seat right away even though it was busy. Service was fast, coffee was hot, bacon was perfectly cooked, eggs were fluffy, biscuits and gravy were hearty, hash browns were exactly what hash browns should be. It was one of those rare meals that made us both happy and full. The most impressive part was how fast we were in and out even through they were very busy.

Their biscuits are the best you will ever have! Along with great breakfast and lunch choices, you will not be disappointed here. Around for more than 80 years, the Dixie Pig is Abilene's oldest diner. Great service, cash only or local checks. Can't wait to come back!

Been going for breakfast every Friday. And have yet to be disappointed. And I guess that's why they've been in business so long.

I went and visited Dixie Pig Diner and was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and service. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure our table had everything we needed. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, with a charming and welcoming atmosphere. One thing to note is that Dixie Pig Diner is cash only, so be sure to come prepared. Overall, I would give Dixie Pig Diner a solid 5 stars and will definitely be returning in the future.

The only bad thing you can really say about this place is they don't take cards. Or that it's sometimes so hard to park or grab a table because everyone is there! They even resolved the card thing by putting in an atm! The staff knows your name (and what you're having) if you are a regular. The Dixie pig is embellished with everything pig over the years and it's just fun to look around. The food is classic diner and not these big chains that remove all flavor. Young or old, you'll find something you love here.
