This is a cute little place. Has a plaque on the side also so something to read.
Just note that Sun is not a good time to go as everything is closed in this town on Sundays. Do not need tickets. Free to the public.

Headed to see the Hippi Memorial and found more than we bargained for. The Hippi Memorial was definitely a gem worth seeing. While there, be sure to go around the corner to visit the Raggedy Ann & Andy display as well as the very quaint town square. Awesome art work lines the whole street from wall art to art brooms that line the main road. Definitely a must see. #BubbasGarageTv

I couldn't believe it! A Hippie Memorial! How cool is that? It is a tribute to hippies and how they changed the world for the better, opening the eyes of generations to a freer way of thinking, and in turn living. It is situated in the small town of Arcola Illinois. The town has the history of being the location where corn brooms were made in the early part of the century, and still today. This gave it the nick name of Broom Town. It is also the site if some 25 beautiful murals done on the old buildings by some renowned artists at an event one day in 2012. They were known at the Walldogs and gathered from all over the world to paint these murals. There are also painted artificial brooms up and down the brick streets depicting events in a humorous fashion. The architecture of the homes and town buildings are worth seeing as well. You'll see old well kept homes on brick streets with beautiful old trees. This is an Amish community so you will also see an occasional horse and buggy. I found it worth the drive from St. Louis to see the Hippie Memorial, and got everything else as an extra.

Only one like it anywhere. An unexpected treat among many great tourism attractions. Museum, visitors center, Raggedy Ann and Andy statue, wildlife refuge, Amish attractions. Lots to do and find here in Amazing Arcola.
